Chapter 4 - Preparing for Divorce

Feng Jingxin jumped up from the bed. "Really?!"

"Mm."

"Then why didn't Aunt Wu tell me just now?"

"The situation just became clear, and I haven't told her yet."

Feng Jingxin was overjoyed. "Then, Daddy, don't tell Aunt Wu yet. After we return to the country, can we give her a surprise?"

"Okay."

"Daddy, you're the best! I love you so much!"

After hanging up the phone, Feng Jingxin was still extremely happy, singing and dancing on the bed.

A while later, she suddenly remembered Rong Ci.

For the past few days, her mood had been really good because her mom hadn't called her. In fact, to avoid talking to her mom on the phone, she had purposely left early a few days ago, and after school, she would intentionally put her phone far away or turn it off.

After two days, she was worried that her mom might get angry if she found out, so she stopped doing it.

But what surprised her was that her mom hadn't called her at all in the past few days.

At first, she thought her mom had figured out she was intentionally missing her calls.

But then, she remembered, based on her past experiences, if her mom knew she had done something wrong, she would've made her correct it immediately, rather than being angry and not calling her.

After all, to her mom, she was the most important person. Her mom loved her the most. She just couldn't believe that her mom would really be willing to stop calling her just because she was mad.

Thinking about this, Feng Jingxin suddenly found herself missing Rong Ci.

This was the first time in many days that she had thought about Rong Ci.

She couldn't help but call Rong Ci.

But as soon as she dialed the phone, she suddenly thought that although she would see Aunt Wu soon after returning to the country, based on her mom's personality, her mom would definitely try every possible way to stop her from meeting Aunt Wu.

She could no longer do what she did here—seeing Aunt Wu whenever she wanted.

Thinking of this, Feng Jingxin's mood suddenly worsened.

It was early morning in the country.

Rong Ci had already fallen asleep.

She was woken up by Feng Jingxin's call.

When she woke up and saw Feng Jingxin's call, she was about to answer, but Feng Jingxin angrily cut the call off.

Although Rong Ci had written in the divorce agreement with Feng Ting Shen that she gave up custody of Feng Jingxin, Feng Jingxin was still her daughter.

She still had a certain responsibility toward her.

Seeing Feng Jingxin's call and then suddenly hanging up, Rong Ci became worried that something might have happened, so she quickly called back.

When Feng Jingxin saw the call, she turned her face away and refused to answer.

Rong Ci became even more worried and immediately called the landline at the villa.

Aunt Liu answered the phone quickly. After hearing what Rong Ci said, she replied, "The young miss should be fine. She stayed up late last night and got up late today. When I went upstairs just now, she was still asleep. I'll go check on her now and call you back soon."

After hearing Aunt Liu's words, Rong Ci felt relieved. "Okay, thank you."

When Aunt Liu went upstairs, Feng Jingxin was already in the bathroom, washing up.

While Aunt Liu explained the situation, Feng Jingxin was rinsing her mouth and lying, "I must've accidentally pressed it."

Aunt Liu didn't suspect anything, seeing her brushing her teeth, and went downstairs to update Rong Ci.

Feng Jingxin snorted, feeling a bit better after hearing this.

Rong Ci, having heard Aunt Liu's words, finally felt at ease.

However, she had been woken up suddenly, and couldn't fall back asleep. When she woke up the next day for work, she was not feeling well.

The envelope containing the divorce agreement that Rong Ci had given Feng Ting Shen, he hadn't thought about it since the day he received Lin Wu's call.

On the day they returned to the country, Feng Ting Shen placed the last document into his briefcase. After making sure nothing was missing, he turned around and walked downstairs.

"It's ready, let's go."

The Lincoln sedan quickly left the villa and headed towards the airport.

...

Rong Ci didn't know about Feng Ting Shen and the others returning to the country.

No one had told her.

It had already been half a month since she moved out of the villa.

During this half month, she gradually became accustomed to and grew fond of the quiet and leisurely life of living alone.

Today was the weekend, and she woke up a bit later than usual.

After getting up and washing up, she opened the curtains. Seeing the sunlight was just right, she stretched lazily, watered the plants she had been taking care of, and was about to make herself a simple breakfast when the doorbell rang.

It was Mrs. Fang, her neighbor across the street.

"Miss Rong, I hope I didn't disturb you."

Rong Ci spoke gently, "No, I was already awake."

"That's good to hear." Mrs. Fang said enthusiastically, "These are some buns and dumplings that just came out of the oven this morning. I brought them over for you to try."

"Thank you, this... you are too kind."

"Not at all, not at all. If it weren't for you saving our Tiantian the other day, I don't know what would have happened to her with that crazy dog. We've been meaning to thank you properly for a while, but my husband and I have both been so busy with work, we haven't had time. I feel really bad about it..."

"It was nothing at all, Mrs. Fang. You're too kind."

After a bit of small talk, Mrs. Fang left.

Rong Ci went back inside, eating her breakfast while reading about the AI algorithm mechanism she had been studying recently.

In the afternoon, a news alert about T University's centennial celebration popped up on her phone.

Rong Ci paused, checked the date, and then remembered that today was indeed T University's anniversary.

She went online and found several trending topics related to the #T University Centennial Celebration#.

The reason why T University's centennial celebration was so highly discussed was not only because T University is the top university in the country, with every move attracting attention, but also because this was the first centennial celebration in T University's history. As a result, many distinguished alumni were invited back to the school to participate in the celebration.

These distinguished alumni were all influential figures in various fields.

Rong Ci looked at the news for a while.

When she saw several familiar faces appearing on camera, her hand holding the phone trembled.

Memories of her time at school suddenly flooded her mind.

Her heart, suddenly, felt chaotic.

If she hadn't entered marriage right after graduating from her undergraduate studies, perhaps she would have been one of the invited alumni today, returning to the school for the celebration?

Rong Ci closed her laptop, hesitated for a moment, then drove to T University.

It was already afternoon.

Many of the important figures who had been invited to the school had already left.

But there were still a lot of people on campus.

Rong Ci wandered aimlessly through the campus. When she reached the familiar building of the experimental labs, a familiar voice called out to her.

"Xiao Ci?"

Twenty minutes later, in a tea house outside T University.

Yu Mo Xun poured a cup of tea for Rong Ci. "How have you been lately?"

Rong Ci held the tea cup, lowered her eyes, and smiled faintly. "Pretty good, but... I'm preparing for a divorce."

Yu Mo Xun didn't expect such an answer and paused for a moment. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine."

"So, what are your plans next? Are you thinking of coming back to the company?"

"That's the plan, but..."

Yu Mo Xun didn't know what her concerns were, but he spoke to her seriously. "Xiao Ci, the company needs you. You have a share in the company, and I hope you can come back and take charge."

"I... I..."

Looking at Yu Mo Xun's serious expression, Rong Ci felt an unspoken bitterness.

It wasn't that she didn't want to.

It was that the AI field was developing too quickly now.

She had been away from the industry for six years. Even if she returned now, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace of development, let alone lead everyone as she once did on the cutting edge of the industry.
