Chapter 17 - Unfortunately, His Brother Doesn't Like It.

And Rongci also noticed that even though Feng Ting Shen was usually calm and indifferent, at this moment, he clearly showed an expression of astonishment and admiration. Feng Jingxin and Qi Yuming jumped up from their seats.

The race entered its intense phase. Feng Tingyi took the binoculars back again.

It was unclear whether Feng Tingyi was completely focused on Lin Mei, but he didn't seem to notice that Feng Ting Shen and the others were there.

The race took a brief pause. Lin Mei temporarily ranked first.

Rongci asked Feng Tingyi for the binoculars.

Feng Tingyi was delighted: "Sister-in-law, you're mesmerized by my goddess too, right?! I told you, no matter male or female, there's no one who wouldn't like my goddess!"

Rongci lowered her gaze and smiled but didn't speak.

At that moment, she wanted to take out her phone and call Feng Ting Shen. She wanted to know how he would react when he saw her call—most likely, he would just hang up as soon as he saw her name pop up. After all, that's how Feng Ting Shen had always treated her.

Thinking about this, she felt like there was no point in making the call. She didn't want to call anymore. It felt meaningless.

But then she thought, let this be the last time.

With that thought, Rongci still picked up her phone and called Feng Ting Shen, then took the binoculars.

She personally saw Feng Ting Shen glance at the caller ID, hesitate for a second, and then hang up without hesitation. Afterward, Feng Ting Shen turned his attention back to Lin Mei.

His eyes were only on Lin Mei.

Rongci took a deep breath, then smiled, calmly handing the binoculars back to Feng Tingyi.

After that, Rongci didn't watch the rest of the race, nor did she pay attention to Feng Ting Shen's side.

When the race ended, Lin Mei was first.

Feng Tingyi was extremely excited, and both he and his friends were eager to ask her for an autograph.

"But I heard that CC is from a wealthy family and graduated with a doctorate from a prestigious school. Racing is just a hobby for her. She doesn't need fans, and she doesn't pander to them. She usually leaves right after the race and has never given an autograph, so it's pretty much impossible to get one from her."

"Yeah, this was a private race, so the chances of getting an autograph were higher, but there's a dedicated passage for racers at the venue. We don't have the connections to get in... sigh..."

While Feng Tingyi and his friends were discussing this, they heard that Lin Mei had already left with her friends to celebrate.

Sang Qian had already called to urge her, and Rongci had declined Feng Tingyi's request to go have fun with his friends. She was getting ready to take him back.

Before leaving, Rongci went to the restroom.

When she came out, she accidentally bumped into someone.

"Sorry."

"I'm sorry."

Both Rongci and the other person took a step back and apologized at the same time.

When Rongci looked up, she froze.

He Chenbo.

Another close friend of Feng Ting Shen.

He Chenbo naturally knew her.

Upon seeing her, his already indifferent expression became even colder.

Rongci noticed this, of course.

She had known Feng Ting Shen since she was ten years old.

Feng Ting Shen and He Changbo had grown up together as childhood friends, and their relationship was very close.

When they were young, they went to school and played together; as they grew older, they worked on projects together and would meet up regularly.

Whether it was during childhood or after marriage, Feng Ting Shen had always excluded her from his circle of friends.

So, although she had known He Changbo and Qi Yuming for more than ten years, they were nothing more than acquaintances who simply nodded at each other.

But soon after he met Lin Mei, Feng Ting Shen introduced her to He Changbo and the others.

That's why, when Lin Mei had her birthday, Feng Ting Shen asked He Changbo and the others to help her celebrate. And when Lin Mei was racing, He Changbo and the others came to watch as well...

Rumor had it that Lin Mei and He Changbo had become very close.

So close that, even if Feng Ting Shen wasn't around, they would still invite Lin Mei to their gatherings.

He Changbo and the others had completely treated her as one of their own.

It was probably because of this that, in the past two years, when He Changbo and the others saw her, they had become increasingly indifferent.

She had wanted to build a good relationship with them, but they had always looked down on her.

They gave her no opportunities at all.

They had always been cold to her.

She had her own pride, and since they had shown their attitude, she never forced it.

But when she did run into them, she would still politely greet them when necessary.

However, most of the time, what she received in return was their indifference, even disdain.

This time, Rongci didn't plan to speak up.

She bypassed them and left directly.

But He Changbo spoke up: "Miss Rong, are you interested in racing too?"

His tone was cold.

Rongci, sensitive to the tone, immediately realized his implication—he was questioning whether she had come here to follow Feng Ting Shen.

She turned around, her voice cold: "What are you trying to say?"

He Changbo showed no signs of shame despite being caught by her: "I just thought someone like Miss Rong wouldn't be interested in racing."

Rongci stared into He Changbo's eyes. "Mr. He, are we very familiar with each other? Do you know me well? Since you seem to understand me so well, why don't you go ahead and tell me what kind of person I am?"

He Changbo had always thought of Rongci as quiet and gentle, even somewhat shy and reserved—but he believed that was just her facade. In reality, he thought she was very calculating. After all, if she wasn't, she wouldn't have done the unsavory things she did in order to win Feng Ting Shen over years ago.

But afterward, she had acted innocent and still refused to admit that the whole thing had been her doing.

He Changbo didn't speak. He just stared at her.

He didn't feel the need to comment on her.

He wasn't interested in commenting at all.

However, Rongci's behavior today was different from the times he had seen her before. It was as though she had ripped off her mask, no longer pretending.

But it didn't seem quite like that either.

Because, when Rongci looked at him, her gaze was cold, sharp, and clean, but also tinged with a hint of sarcasm. It seemed as though she was mocking him for thinking he had figured her out, standing on some moral high ground, judging her without any clarity or understanding.

Rongci didn't care what He Changbo thought. She looked away and turned to leave.

Sang Qian had rented a place for Feng Tingyi near the school.

Rongci took him back to the area near the school, and by the time they arrived, it was already 11 p.m.

Feng Tingyi, still growing, had eaten dinner but was hungry again.

He said, "Sister-in-law, the late-night snacks over there are really good. Let me treat you to some."

Rongci hadn't eaten dinner either and was craving something warm to fill her stomach, so she agreed.

Just as they sat down, Rongci's stomach growled.

Feng Tingyi was startled for a moment, then suddenly realized: "Sister-in-law, you... didn't have dinner?"

"Mm."

Feng Tingyi immediately felt guilty: "I'm sorry, sister-in-law, it's all my fault..."

"It's fine, I wasn't hungry earlier."

Feng Tingyi looked at Rongci's gentle smile, and a feeling of unease stirred in his heart.

He really thought Rongci was truly a good person.

It's a pity his brother just doesn't like her. Sigh...
