"I have a notebook here." Gwen went to her suitcase, took out her laptop, placed it on the table, plugged it in, and turned it on.
She opened the map first. They were currently in Washington, D.C.
"Search again for the Paleontology Museum in Washington..." Gwen muttered, tapping her fingers on the keyboard to spell out "Paleontology Museum." Soon, a red dot appeared on the map, marking the only paleontology museum in the city.
"Gwen, zoom in on each intersection on the map," Ryan instructed from beside her.
Gwen connected a mouse and used her right hand to zoom in on the entire map. Ryan quickly memorized the fastest route. He looked up at Max and described the route.
"Okay, I'll drive over there." Max firmly committed the route to memory, pressed the accelerator, and drove toward the Museum of Paleontology.
"Otherwise, let's look up Dr. Animo," Gwen suggested. She closed the map page and typed Dr. Animo's name into the search engine. A page about Dr. Animo quickly popped up.
"Dr. Animo, male, formerly a Ph.D. in biology. He once participated in the Truth Award. He went crazy because he didn't win the prize for his research..." Ryan murmured, reading the introduction. His eyes flickered, and he told Gwen, "Search again. When is the latest Truth Award being held?"
"I know this! I've been following it. It's today," said Gwen, ever the studious girl.
"It seems Animo released mutant creatures today, both to test his genetic alteration device and to disrupt the Truth Award ceremony!" Ryan rested his chin in his hand and concluded.
"It's okay. You can definitely stop him," Gwen said, looking at Ryan with a hint of admiration.
"Um, I have a question if I can interrupt!" Ben raised his hand, his face full of curiosity. "What's the Truth Award?"
"The Truth Award is second only to the Nobel Prize. It's an award many scientists dream of," Ryan explained patiently.
"Dude, you need to read more books. You don't even know about the Truth Award!" Gwen teased Ben again, as she often did.
"Hmph, I'm not a nerd." Ben stuck out his tongue and patted Ryan on the shoulder. "Of course I'm not talking about you, Ryan. Only Gwen is a nerd!"
The bickering between the two made Ryan laugh and cry. He was used to this kind of atmosphere.
Beep beep beep~
The Omnitrix alert sounded from Ryan's wrist. The red Omnitrix, which had been cooling down, had now turned green, indicating that it had sufficient energy. This gave him enough confidence.
After some idle chatter, the sky quickly grew dark and the old RV arrived at the entrance of the huge paleontology museum. When the four of them got out, the surroundings felt strange. The large museum was eerily silent with no security guards or staff, and its main doors were wide open.
"It looks so scary," Gwen mumbled, shrinking her neck. Her face naturally showed a hint of fear.
"Maybe you and Ben should stay here while Grandpa and I go into the museum," Ryan said, turning to them with a serious expression. Ancient creatures were no joke, and he was worried that battling one might endanger the innocent duo.
"Ryan's right." Max nodded too. He was more concerned about Ben and Gwen than cautious Ryan.
"How could that be, Grandpa? I'm not afraid," Ben said, clenching his fists and looking determined.
Gwen carried a plastic bag with a large bag of something inside. "I'm not leaving. I still have to help you."
"Grandpa, let's take them with us. I know Ben and Gwen very well. Even if we refuse, they'll secretly follow. It's safer if they come with us," Ryan said, seeing their determination. He turned to persuade Max.
"Okay, let's go." Max shook his head helplessly and led the way. Ryan followed behind him, then Ben, and finally Gwen.
When they reached the museum doors and stepped inside, the entire hall was pitch black, and they couldn't see their surroundings clearly. Only when they got close could they make out the huge dinosaur skeletons next to them. It was incredibly quiet. Their light footsteps sounded very loud.
Subconsciously, Gwen reached out and grabbed one of Ryan's arms. She followed closely behind him, her bag still hanging on her shoulders. "When danger comes, run far away," Ryan whispered, giving her a comforting look. Gwen nodded meekly and looked left and right.
This paleontology museum was truly weird! Dr. Animo should have been here earlier, so why was there no movement at all?
"Something's wrong here. Could it be an ambush?" As they walked to the center of the hall, Ryan cried out inwardly, stopping and tugging at Max's shirt. He tried to persuade everyone to go back to the entrance first.
At that moment, it was too late!
Whoosh!
The lights in the hall suddenly flickered on, illuminating the entire space. The sudden light made Ryan's eyes uncomfortable, so he narrowed them slightly. Even with his eyes narrowed, he could vaguely see the enormous parrot blocking the main gate. Dr. Animo was riding on it.
"You idiots! You dare get in my way? You're courting death!" Dr. Animo took off his red sunglasses and revealed a sinister smile.
Boom!
Boom!
Two Triceratops, many times larger than the hamsters, charged out from the gates on both sides! As they walked, the entire hall shook.
"These two have been hiding for a long time, waiting for you to walk into my trap! That big red guy must know you, too. I'll catch you all!" Dr. Animo declared confidently.
