Chapter 20 - Nine Months 'Till Doomsday

The morning sun slipped through the blinds, casting golden stripes across Riku's face as he stirred awake. His muscles ached, but in a way that was almost comforting—proof of yesterday's effort. He sat up slowly, blinking the sleep from his eyes.

["Good morning, Host. Would you like to draw the daily gacha?"]

"Yeah, sure. Hit me."

[Congratulations! You have acquired: Weighted Wrist Bands (10 tons each) – D-tier Item!]

[Weighted Wrist Bands (10 tons each)]: Durable training gear forged from an unknown alloy, these wristbands adjust to the user's strength level and always apply consistent pressure. Designed to build explosive speed and stamina. Warning: May cause severe strain if used improperly.

Two sleek, matte-black wristbands appeared on his bed in a blink. Riku picked one up, grunted at the sheer density of it, then grinned.

"Now this is gonna make me move like hell."

He dropped the wristbands onto the floor with a heavy thud and stood up. He was only in his boxers, his body gleaming with a light sheen of sweat even from sleep. Broad shoulders, a carved chest, and powerful legs—all packed into a lean, perfectly proportioned frame. His muscles weren't bulky like a bodybuilder's, but they rippled like tempered steel, refined and practical. Jet-black hair hung slightly messy, and his black eyes, unclouded and empty of fear, looked straight ahead with purpose. A younger Toji in silhouette.

He cracked his neck, then dropped into position.

"Let's go."

With cursed energy flowing through his body, armament haki coating his limbs, and—for the first time ever—Kaioken flaring around him in a flickering red aura, he dove into his morning workout.

5,000 push-ups.

5,000 sit-ups.

8,000 jumping jacks.

Every movement screamed in his muscles. Kaioken amplified everything—his strength, his speed, and the hellish strain on his body. His teeth grit so hard it felt like they'd crack. His eyes blurred. But he didn't stop.

Only after the final jump did he collapse, panting and twitching, the red aura fading like dying embers.

"Damn it," he growled, trying to sit up. "If only Regeneration could fix this kinda damage…"

Eventually, he forced himself to his feet and stumbled into the bathroom. The hot shower washed away the sweat and pain, steaming up the mirror.

After drying off and slipping into clean clothes, he paused in front of the mirror.

This was him now.

Toji-like body. Eyes like midnight voids. Hair black as shadows. And a quiet aura of power that wasn't just for show.

Once dressed, he powered on his PC. The familiar glow of the monitor greeted him.

Transfer Complete: 256,000,000 yen → Account.

He stared.

Then smirked.

"Time to enjoy life a little."

Riku took the train to downtown Tokyo, slipping on a hoodie. His first stop: electronics.

The store's automated doors whooshed open as he entered. Rows of glowing displays lined the walls.

"Welcome! Can I help you?" A cheerful store clerk in a blue polo smiled.

"I need three phones. One for me, and two gifts."

"What kind of specs are you looking for?"

Riku shrugged. "Latest models. Good battery. Fast processors. And make one of them a little extra flashy."

The clerk led him to a glass display.

"This one's new—high-end camera, fast charging, biometric locks."

Riku tested the weight in his hand. "I'll take it. And two of these," he pointed to another slightly cheaper model.

"Need cases and screen protectors?"

"Yeah. Three of each. Also, chargers and SIM cards."

The purchase rang up fast. He handed over his new card. The clerk blinked.

"Uh, sir, your card just approved 300,000 yen like it was nothing."

"I'm...having a good week."

Next stop: fashion.

A boutique store caught his eye. Clean lighting. Sleek walls. Modern designs.

As he walked in, a female attendant gave him a professional nod.

"Looking for anything in particular?"

"Just some new casuals. Something that fits well and moves easy."

The woman eyed his figure. "Athletic cut, got it. Follow me."

He tried on fitted joggers, minimalist shirts, and a sleek black bomber jacket. A few customers glanced his way while he checked his reflection. He looked sharp—dangerously so.

Another 200,000 yen gone on the card.

He left with shopping bags in both hands.

He wandered through the streets, sipping a melon soda and snacking on shrimp-flavored chips. Just as he was thinking of heading back, someone caught his eye across the plaza.

Black pants. White undershirt. Black leather jacket.

Pink hair.

Riku's heart nearly stopped.

'Yuji Itadori.'

He looked closer. No second pair of closed eyes on his face.

Riku blinked and power-walked across the street, stopping in front of him.

"Um, excuse me. Do you attend West Junior High?"

Yuji blinked. "Yeah. I go there. Why?"

Riku smiled politely. "When do you graduate?"

"In about… 9 months? Why?"

Riku's eyes widened just slightly. "Oh, it's nothing. My nephew goes there and I forgot to ask when he finishes. Thanks."

Yuji nodded and walked off, slightly confused.

Riku turned away, beaming.

'Holy shit. I got it. Nine months. That's it—season one hasn't started yet. I have so much time. Oh god… did I seem creepy just now? Shit, please don't think I'm a pedo—'

Before he could spiral further, three women approached him. All appeared to be around his age, dressed in casual summer attire.

One had long black hair and serious eyes.

One had twin pigtails and a playful smirk.

And the third—brown skin, short dyed-pink hair, and a fat ass in tight shorts—stood in the center.

"Excuse me," said the first woman. "Our friend here was wondering… are you single?"

'Wait. Am I getting hit on?!'

"I—uh—yeah. I'm single."

The woman with the fat butt stepped forward, biting her lip slightly as she handed him a piece of paper.

"These are our numbers. Just in case."

They giggled and walked off before he could reply.

Riku stood there like a statue.

'I just got hit on. For the first time. In both lives.'

He clutched the paper like it was a lottery ticket.

Back home, he handed the phones to his parents over dinner.

His mom blinked. "You didn't need to do this, Riku…"

"Seriously, we're fine with our old phones," his dad added.

"Come on. You deserve nice stuff too. I made the money, so let me spend a little."

They exchanged a look, then took the phones with small smiles.

"Thank you," his mom said. "Just… don't go blowing it all."

He grinned. "Don't worry."

Upstairs, he set the paper with the girls' numbers on his desk, then opened his phone's sleek box and started setting it up.

"Finally. I have a phone again."

He leaned back in his chair, staring at the screen.

'Nine months. I've got nine months to become something terrifying. When Season One hits…'

He grinned.

"I'll be ready."

Then he collapsed into bed, exhaling deeply.

Sleep took him with a smile on his face.

For the people wondering what he looked like I hope this chapter helped but if it didn't well womp womp. Anyways I was thinking about doing a time skip for nine months and then summarizing what he did during those nine months but for that I need to do some bullshit like the system being inactive. Give me some ideas.
