Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Tour in Kings Landing

The sun hung high over King's Landing, casting long shadows on its crumbling walls and winding alleyways. Rodrik Arryn, flanked by his closest friend Jaymee Royce, strode through the city streets, his eyes keenly scanning the surroundings. His retinue, though small in number to avoid drawing attention, walked just behind, vigilant and quiet.

Jaymee, ever the eager knight, was visibly excited. "You know," he said, glancing sideways at Rodrik, "I've decided to take part in the tourney. I've been training hard. This is my chance to make a name for myself. What about you? Will you enter the lists?"

Rodrik offered a faint smile. "You know me better than that. I've neither talent nor interest in smashing lances against other men. There are other ways I'd rather test myself."

They turned a corner, the cheerful tone fading from Rodrik's face as he witnessed the grim realities of the capital. Human waste thrown out in the streets, and the air reeked of rot. Children played barefoot in the filth, and nearby, a man shoved a screaming woman into an alley. Without hesitation, Rodrik gestured silently to one of his guards. The man disappeared, returning moments later with the woman safe and the attacker subdued.

Jaymee glanced at Rodrik, noting the shift in his mood. "You've grown sullen," he said lightly, trying to brighten the moment. "Perhaps we should visit one of those infamous brothels? They say King's Landing is unmatched in... carnal delights."

Rodrik chuckled but shook his head slowly. "Maybe," he said. Jaymee was was not suprised as he knew his friend.

Rodrik considers himself a good person & wants for others life to become better but he also believes that a person should enjoy his own life as much as possible so he always liked to drink & party & in his previous life he has charmed many women into fooling around but never had anything series. he can't do that here because he thinks that if he approaches a Nobel women then it's implication would be a scandal & at the end marriage & if he approaches a common women it might be that she gets afraid of his standing & comply because of that which he doesn't want to persue both routes. So he has enjoyed the company of professional women's in Vale also. As per him until he is commited to a women it's a waste to not enjoy the pleasures of life.

Jaymee smirked. "So when can we go?."

Rodrik's voice took on a thoughtful tone. "Lets wait it out there are eyes everywhere in Kings Landing."

Jaymee nodded. "So how was the dinner yesterday with the royal family?"

Rodrik smirked. "It was good. There were some awkward conversations but I answered them as per my thoughts. You know I don't like to twist & turn my words no matter who is listening but still I think I carried myself nicely I believe."

Jaymee scoffed" Yeh right I was waiting the whole time that guards would come & drag me with them to hang me because of something offensive you said to the king until you returned I could not take a breath of releif. In your brain everybody's an Idiot".

Rodrik playfully " You said it not me".

As they continued walking, Rodrik's eyes returned to the narrow, disease-ridden streets. His mind churned with thoughts. The people of King's Landing didn't need gold or pageantry. They needed sanitation, food, medicine. He had changed the Vale; could the capital be changed too?

Jaymee nudged him gently. "You're thinking about fixing it all, aren't you?"

Rodrik sighed. "I always think about that. But I can't act on it because it's not my place to act. I have been given the responsibility of Vale so I will do anything necessary for Vale & could only hope that others follow in its footsteps. People might think that I am afraid of these inventions to be leaked to other kingdoms but truthfully I am not I want them to copy it but I can't give it to them as they won't value it & will think us week. Let them put effort steel the ways of Vale & implement it. Till they do this we will be years ahead of them & this cycle will never end. In the core of Vale I will implement the ideology of progress so it keep the lead & guide the world towards it."

The tour of the city continued, but for Rodrik, it was no leisurely stroll. Every crumbling wall, every beggar's cry, every sign of decay planted new seeds of thought. And somewhere, deep inside, a new idea began to take shape.
