Chapter 9 - ORB IN THE FOREST

Ever since his parents died , he had been leaving with his aunt who was kind of less strict on him in order not to make him miss his parents. His aunt had done nothing to care for him well , she had also lost her two sons during one of the wars against the monsters.

After the long night he woke up and the blossoming sun rays had lit up his room. The light danced across his eyelids, and coaxed him awake. He blinked, squinting slightly as the warmth of the morning sun spilled over his bed, illuminating the pale blue walls and glinting off the glass of a framed photo on his nightstand. The rays stretched long shadows from the potted plants by the window, their leaves casting delicate patterns on the hardwood floor. He stretched, his toes brushing the cool sheets, and smiled as the light bathed his face, signaling the start of a new day.

Being that he had no school to attend , he chose to use this time to go and do his final training before he would head off for the military. He had been doing these training ever since he turned twelve .It had been a request from his parents to always train and become the strongest he can be . That was the only way he could protect the ones that he loved and now it was only his aunt that he loved. She was his family , she always advised him to ensure he keeps the discipline his parents taught him.

"Strength isn't just power, it's choosing who to protect." his dad always told him and some of these always kept him moving it was the reason he was stronger than most of his peer physically when they all hadn't awakened their abilities.

He headed to the forest where he always carried out his training, this part of the region where he stayed was actually a ghetto and inhabited by the poor so they lacked training halls with simulations .

He entered the forest and he soon reached his usual place for training. He had well shaped logs that he would use for training weight lifting in order to increase resistance and thickness of his muscles .

**********

Forty minutes later he was sweating profusely from the rigorous warm-up before his real exercise would start .

After a few hours of strenuous exercise as though he was on steroids, he removed his lunch from the backpack to refill the energy before he would head back home.

He leaned into a nearby tree , still panting and sweat dripping down his temples. His trembling fingers ripped open the wrapper ,before he took huge and hurried bites.Crumbs scattered across his laps unnoticed. However before he could take the last bite , something unusual startled his .He saw birds flying away from trees a head and he could see a faint light .

His brain told him to go home , but his heart told him to go check it out . As someone who will be heartbroken, he followed his heart as though he was falling in love with a toxic b*tch. He slowly followed the faint blue light as he entered deeper in the forest . His mind kept telling him how dangerous it is going deeper in the forest due to presence of monsters yet he had not awoken any ability.

One of the goals why he kept training was to be able to awaken a strong ability and early enough. He would always enter a meditative state after most of his training trying to remember a certain feeling that he had felt once in life . The stronger the body , the easier it becomes for it to bind energy and this awakening a strong ability. Awakening a strong ability in a weak body would severely damage the use at times , or at times the ability would get limited in order not to harm the body of the user and this would go undetected unless if one worked tirelessly and made a breakthrough.

He went deeper into the forest until when he could visibly see what was producing the light, a floating orb the size of a coconut. It looked like as though the space around the orb was shifting randomly, this was seen in surroundings near hot bodies but this specific orb was not releasing any heat.

Vincent wondered why he had never seen such a thing yet he had been training from this forest for long . He slowly lifted his hand to touch the orb but "This is not what blacks do , we run bro . We don't touch what we don't know ," Vince said to himself.

Either way he had nothing to lose, so why not touch , he felt a something compelling him to get closer .

He touched the orb but unlike what he expected, there was nothing like a big explosion to throw him away into sleep but rather it felt as though there was a protective layer preventing direct touch. He increased the force and broke though the barrier. He would feel the orb pulsating in his hands like a heart pulled out of a victim in the temple of doom .

But something was definitely not right he felt it now.
