Name: Aris Shafiq

Identity: Heir to the Shafiq family, prospective first-year at Hogwarts

Magic Strength: C-Level (39/50)

Overall Talent Rating: SSS

Special Talents: Universal Shapeshifter, Prophetic Astrologer, Wandless Casting, Language of Nature

Academic Ability Points: 1000

Late at night, Aris lay on his bed, having read for what felt like hours. He stared up at the glowing system panel hovering in his mind.

After that unexpected epiphany earlier in the afternoon, his magic strength had jumped from D-level to C-level—a pretty decent leap by any standard.

The system showed the precise value of his magical strength just beside the rating—something he could improve through training or by using certain magical potions.

Most first-years just entering Hogwarts typically clocked in around G to E level, depending on their natural talent. Adult wizards usually reached B-level, while elite Aurors in the Ministry hovered around A.

As for the top-tier lot—the Dark Lord, Dumbledore, and the like—they were easily S-level or beyond.

Back when Aris had first merged with his talents, he'd already hit D-level straight off the bat. Not bad for someone his age.

Now, thanks to that moment of clarity earlier, he'd edged into C-level territory. Not surprising really, considering how active his magic was at the moment.

He could feel it humming beneath his skin—like it wanted to be used.

And with the kind of control he now had over his magic, he reckoned he could pull off standard spells with barely a thought.

Even the more complicated stuff wouldn't be much trouble—just a bit of practice, and he'd have it down.

This... this was the true benefit of inheriting Merlin's legacy.

"I've built up 900 points… and counting the previous 100 points, it's a total of 1000 points…. time for a bit of fun."

Aris closed the attribute panel and opened the lucky draw wheel.

[Would you like to use 100 points to spin the lucky draw?]

A prompt floated before him.

"Go on, then. Let's do ten draws in one go!"

Aris didn't muck about—he dumped all 1,000 of his points into the draw without hesitation.

To buy a magic potion outright would've cost him the full thousand, and at this stage, the lottery seemed like the better deal.

Surely, there were loads of hidden gems tucked away in the system, just waiting to be pulled.

As the points were spent, the spinning wheel whirred to life. The vibrant colours quickly morphed into a swirling, kaleidoscopic vortex.

Then—bang!—a burst of dazzling light shot out from the centre.

Five white flashes, two green, one blue, one purple… and one gold.

Aris's eyes lit up.

"A guaranteed pull in ten spins? And I actually hit a gold one? That's a legendary reward!"

He checked the list straightaway.

[Gold Galleons ×5]

He raised an eyebrow.

"Well, that's a bit pants. The last thing I need more of right now is gold."

[Next: Low-Level Spell Learning Experience Pack ×2]

"Hmm? Experience packs? What's that all about?"

Curious, he used both of them without delay.

A soft glow emerged as the system panel in his mind shifted slightly.

Beneath the "Special Talents" section, a new panel appeared:

[Charms: Beginner Level (99/100)]

Both packs had bumped his Charms subject to the very edge of the Beginner stage—nearly maxed out.

But something felt off.

"Hang on... why didn't it hit the full 100?"

Puzzled, Aris tapped into the details.

[The host has not mastered any spells. Spell learning cannot advance further.]

"Ahh… that's the catch, is it."

He gave a chuckle, shaking his head.

"Looks like I'll need to actually cast a few spells before levelling up properly."

Aris was left a bit gobsmacked.

He hadn't touched any other books that afternoon—he'd been entirely absorbed in Merlin's Handbook.

Come to think of it, he hadn't actually learned a single proper spell from the standard syllabus yet.

With a sigh, he reached for the Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1, which he'd chucked on the bedside table earlier. He'd meant to flick through it before bed—turns out, that was about to come in handy.

He opened it at random and skimmed a few pages.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

Right—wandless casting.

After just a glance at the instructions, Aris lifted his hand and gave it a try.

In the corner of the room, his coat gently rose into the air, floating up towards the ceiling and drifting in lazy circles.

The next moment, a soft glow surged through his mind.

The system prompt chimed in.

[Congratulations, Host. Your Spell Learning Level has been upgraded to: Elementary!]

He quickly checked the system panel:

[Charms: Elementary (1/500)]

Just as he thought—it had levelled up instantly.

He could feel the change too. The upgrade wasn't just a number—there was a real sense of clarity blooming in his mind.

New knowledge of spellcasting techniques began to embed itself deeply into his memory, like flipping through a book he'd already read.

Sure, it was only the basics—nothing too advanced—but it still made a world of difference.

That levitation charm he'd just pulled off?

Despite it being his first time, it had felt completely natural—smooth, almost effortless.

That's the power of his system-backed talent and refined magical control.

And now, if he cast the spell again, Aris was sure he could do more than just lift the coat.

He could probably make it dance, spin, or glide exactly where he wanted—like he had invisible strings tied to his fingertips.

And this—this was the effect of just one upgrade in spell theory, blending together practical casting experience and honed technique.

After getting a solid idea of what the experience pack could do, Aris shifted his focus to the remaining two rewards from the lottery.

This time, the purple-tier item wasn't a potion—it was a book.

A skill book.

[Meditation Method

Use to learn meditation.

Effects: Gradually increases magic capacity, strengthens control, and helps refine magical attributes.]

Magical attributes? That phrase rang a bell.

Aris recalled seeing it mentioned in Merlin's Handbook.

As it turns out, over time, a wizard's magic slowly evolves—shaping itself into specific attributes or affinities.

For instance, someone who overuses black magic will inevitably corrupt their soul, twist their magical essence, and possibly alter their personality.

Others might be born with natural affinity—fire, frost, healing, even lightning.

All of these were manifestations of magical attributes.

Aris had been fascinated by this while reading Merlin's notes, and now he found himself even more intrigued.

Meditation, then, wasn't just about boosting magical reserves or sharpening focus—it was a way to sort out and manage magical properties.

That alone made it priceless.

If Aris ever wanted to dabble in the darker side of magic, for example, meditation could help suppress the corruptive influence on his soul.

In essence, it acted as a buffer—protecting him from being consumed by the very spells he learned.

A truly game-changing skill.

The system classed it as a purple-tier reward, but honestly, Aris reckoned that was selling it short.

It deserved to be gold at the very least.

Still, no time to dwell—there was one final reward left.

And this one was gold.

If purple was already that impressive, what on earth was gold going to be?

His gaze flicked to the gleaming light of the golden-tier item.

At first glance, it looked… like an egg?

A strange one, too—radiating a faint warmth and pulsing softly, almost like it was breathing.

Wait. Don't tell me… I've won a pet?
