DERA'S POV
I was doing some cleaning at home when Emily walked in holding her work laptop with dark circles under her eyes.
" What happened, is it your child's father or work" I asked putting down the mop and walking over to sit right next to her in the only couch in my apartment.
"Just work, I'm trying to get a promotion" she replied
"Really? Well that's good. I'm glad you are starting to put yourself first" I said with excitement.
Emily laughed " It's not how you are thinking actually, I'm only trying to distract myself from thinking about him, it's been two weeks now since the day he called asking us to make up back but he hasn't reached out to me or ask about the child I'm carrying….I feel used" she said painfully.
" Nope, you are just delusional, you think a child will just magically change him and make him fall in love with you? Now see his actions girl….they are not adding up. You are only just putting yourself at risk" I told her seriously.
I seriously don't know what love portion Dave gave her that made her this dull to think clearly.
She was the best student in literature class then, even became one of the teachers favourite, it continued like that till university days until she met Dave.
Now she doesnt even know what she is doing, just blindly following a man that has run out of love for her.
He cheated behind her back, when she ask if he did he gaslights her and she begins to feel as the problem thereby apologizing every damn time.
It's not like she doesn't have flaws but this guy is making it hell for her, her heart has been broken numerous times but she just doesn't get it, she has planed her future including him with all her goals but I know that son of a bitch didn't do so.
She is so beautiful, intelligent and humorous but the person in front of me is still beautiful but no motivation to go on but only hope, a hope that Dave might look at her more, love her more.
Dave is her desire and what she fears losing the most.
I really hope she wakes up soon.
I also thought that the fact that he called her the other day after seeing her post with her long time school crush, he might come back to his senses but it was just a moment of bliss.
Forgotten so soon.
Emily couldn't even refute my statement,just kept her head down and her hands went to her belly.
A thought came to my mind, I couldn't help but ask " Have you seen Leo again since that night at the bar"
Her face turned red immediately, with a flushed face " Well I saw him the other day I went for a prenatal check up"
I folded my hands shifting closer to her and asked curiously" so what happened I can see how red your face is, something definitely happened"
Emily smiled awkwardly " Remember that bet I had with him in high school?" She asked me
"Yeah I remember, so what about it"
" He is now a doctor" she said
" What….what he really did? Doesn't that mean you have to marry him" I asked shocked at the new she just told me
" It was just a bet, shouldn't mean anything now, but he said something that I still haven't really understand till this moment, he reminded me about our bet and asked if we should start courtship as soon as possible" Emily said while dropping her laptop on the table and standing up to take a bottle of water from the fridge.
"What….this is surprising" I said still stunned
Technically I would prefer it if she decides to chose Leo, like he is so fine, Dave is like an outdated version compared to Leo.
Back then in high school half the girls in school were crushing in him but he only had eyes for her, she also was crushing in him but after high school they lost contact, it should have been them both being married by now and not this godforsaken Dave of a man.
I sighed then said " You know it will be nice if you guys dated, it seems Leo is really serious about you"
"But I'm pregnant and in love with someone else, Dera come in, you don't expect me to double date, do you" she asked me.
" I didn't say that don't get me wrong, and then again you are not in love, you are just obsessed and delusional. He isn't into you anymore, do you want to go into a marriage that only happens because you are pregnant?" I asked her with concern.
She is my friend and I wouldn't want any thing bad to happen to her, her family doesn't give a shit about anything that happens to her but I do.
I really want the best for her.
I asked again " Does he know about your pregnancy yet?"
Emily raised an eyebrow drank the water in her hand and threw the bottle into the trash can " I wouldn't even dare, I'm already so glad that he still cares for me little more, if he finds out, our relationship will be restrained"
"It's not like the world will end babe, he will find out later or sooner because once your belly starts growing you won't be able to hide it anymore"
She laughed " I know but he shouldn't know so soon, not now "
I really hope she doesn't continue with Dave, she deserves someone better but at first she needs to heal from all her trauma and live herself more meaning outing herself first in any situation.
I plan to talk her out of keeping this pregnancy but I don't want to make her any sadder than this so I adviced myself against it.
How about I set a meet up between her and Leo?
That wound be awesome I thought while smiling.
Emily looked at me strangely and asked " why are you smiling like that, don't scare me please" she said.
