Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: UNCONTROLLABLE POWER

[You have received a Flaw.]

[Your Flaw is: The Avatar State.]

Cloud was seriously confused. A Flaw was supposed to be something dangerous but this just looked like a serious boon to his abilities.

'Well the Spell does act weird sometimes. For example, Kai's Flaw might as well be another aspect ability so why couldn't it be the same for me? Or maybe it's a not so straightforward flaw which will find other means to hurt me?'

Cloud quickly read the runes below it. Hoping the description would clarify things.

[Flaw Description: You have an unstoppable power nestled deep within you, which threatens to control you.]

"Okay that sounds ominous."

He should have known that the spell wouldn't willingly hand over unstoppable power to someone like him.

Cloud struggled to make sense of all that had happened in the last thirty minutes.

When he had gone to Bed last night, he had just been an ordinary average Sleeper. Now he was a reincarnated person with forbidden knowledge and a divine aspect.

'Is there perhaps someone or something that is responsible for my reincarnation? If so, are they also the source of these abilities? What would someone like that want from me?'

He was suddenly interrupted by a sudden growling sound coming from somewhere in his room. He had grown sensitive to these sort of things after all, he was generally a coward. He wouldn't have survived this long if he didn't always run away from the slightest presence of danger. But this time the sound didn't originate from a nightmare creatures, it came from his stomach.

Cloud had skipped Supper last night due to a splitting headache he had. Now his stomach was refusing to also miss breakfast.

"Maybe I'll be able to think better on a full stomach."

He grabbed his shirt which had somehow found its way beneath the bed. He shook some dust off the shirt and put it on, preparing to leave to the dining hall.

Just as he was reaching out to the door, he felt a slight irritation in his nose and let out a sneeze. This was no normal sneeze however, a gust of wind shot out from his mouth sending him flying backwards and crashing into a wall on the other side of the room.

"What the Spell happened?"

He groaned as he struggled to his feet. He looked back towards the door and was left bewildered. I'm front of him it seemed like a tremendous force had struck the door, removing it from its hinges and blasted it into pieces lying across the hall way.

'No way. So this is what a Divine aspect was like?'

He thought to himself with stunned silence.

Previously, it would have taken him all his effort to replicate even a fraction of this power. But now be had done this much damage by accident with a sneeze.

"I think I get where the statement 'uncontrollable power' comes from now. I wonder how strong it would have been with the Avatar State?"

He tried to imagine it before quickly dismissing the thought.

'I should probably learn how to control my own abilities before even trying something as dangerous as that. Especially if it's going to take away my sense of self.'

Cloud had made his way down to the dining hall. Thankfully, no other accidents had occured since then.

'It's a good thing nobody lives in the adjacent rooms next to mine. It would have been troublesome explaining what happened to so many people. But right now, am I just imagining it or are there a lot of people staring at me?'

Cloud wasn't sure if it was due to his Child of Spirits attribute, but ever since he came downstairs, he had started to see weird glowing embers in people's chests around where the heart would have been. He would have assumed it was just their soul cores but it seemed like something more. He could also vaguely guess people's emotions when gazing at the embers in their chests.

'My hypothesis is that I can see a culmination of both their minds and soul called their spirit. If I were to like them to a computer, their body would be the hardware, their minds the software and their soul cores the power source. I can still vaguely sense them even with my eyes closed. I wonder what else I can do?'

Cloud thought to himself as he decided to leave finish his investigation later.

He had received his portion of breakfast, two plates of monster meat stew and was quietly eating while occasionally glancing at his reflection from the metal spoon in his hand. It was a bit unnerving seeing a strange yet familiar face stare back at him.

He had pale blond hair on the verge of being white and black eyes that brimmed with curiosity as he studied his surroundings. His face was like that of an angel that had been sent to a realm he did not belong. He continued to eat his food as a bored expression appeared on his face.

'It seems my appearance improved a little bit after my aspect evolved. I don't really mind it but I don't want to attract any unnecessary attention.'

A few minutes ago, he had told a passing hand maid about the broken door. He had received a slight scolding which made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

'Luckily, she didn't ask how it happened.'

It seems he had also carried his loner personality into this world. Cloud had a lot of trust issues which prevented him fitting in with others. Even that short conversation he had earlier took a lot of effort.

'I'll just act like nothing happened this morning. There aren't that many people in this place who even know I exist but I still shouldn't act suspicious.'

But it seemed fate had other plans for him because he heard a yell from right behind him.

"What the fuck are you degenerates staring at?"

Cloud turned around slowly, surprised by the commotion. It seemed the voice wasn't speaking to him though.

Beside him, were two guards standing next to a young man with black hair and black eyes and a young woman with blond hair and blue eyes. The young man who Cloud assumed had spoken just now was currently glaring at the two guards.

'I didn't think I would meet them so soon. I get my memories and they appear in the same day? It can't be a coincidence. Is this fate perhaps Fate? Who would have thought I would get to meet Sunless and Cassie today.'
