Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 The Eerie Groom's Wedding Procession: Chen Luren as Onlooker

"Madam, your daughter's birth chart shows an inherently yin constitution, which does make her prone to attracting... unsavory entities," the master intoned. "Since we've crossed paths by fate, I'll give you this blessed amulet. Have her wear it close to the body—it's guaranteed effective."

He produced a triangular-folded talisman from his pocket. The middle-aged woman beamed, taking the paper eagerly. "Thank you! How much is this amulet?"

"Only 500 yuan. Remember, her yin destiny means the amulet can ward off misfortune, but keep her away from overly yin-heavy places."

"Can she visit a cemetery? I took her yesterday," the woman asked nervously.

"Cemeteries are yin, but paying respects to ancestors will invoke their protection. That's safe." The master's rhetoric sounded plausible, but Chen Luren sensed a trap—no trace of real spiritual energy emanated from the man. This was a fraud.

As the woman pulled out her phone to pay, a call interrupted her. She answered on speaker:

"Come back! Our daughter's on the rooftop—she's threatening to jump!"

"Jump? Why? She was fine when I left!" the woman panicked, rising to her feet.

"Who knows? Hurry back! Firefighters and police are here, but she won't listen." The man's voice confirmed they were husband and wife.

The woman turned to the master, tears streaming. "Please save my daughter! She must have 招惹脏东西 (encountered something evil). You're the only one who can help! I... I hid something: she's had the same nightmare for days—someone wants to marry her today."

Grabbing the master, she tried to drag him along. "Wait, madam! I'm just a humble fortune-teller! Call the police—" He shoved the amulet into her hand. "Take this for free! Goodbye!"

The reversal was abrupt. One moment he'd spouted wisdom; the next, he fled. Chen Luren saw through his motive: avoiding involvement. If the girl jumped despite his "help," the fraud risked being sued for promoting feudal superstition. Smart move to disengage.

But Chen Luren cared less about the fake master than the daughter. Her nightmare—"someone wants to marry her today"—echoed the eerie groom procession he'd encountered. The timing couldn't be coincidental.

A chill ran down his spine. The Reaper's traps were escalating, targeting innocents connected to him. He activated Tier-3 intuition: red danger threads stretched from the park to the woman's home, converging on her daughter like a spider's web.

"Wait!" Chen Luren called, stopping the hysterical woman. "I can help."

The master shot him a "you're crazy" look, but Chen Luren ignored it. He needed to confront this trap—maybe even turn it into a chance to study the Reaper's patterns... or farm more survival experience.

"Tell me everything about your daughter's dreams," he said, eyes glinting. "And take me to your building—now."

From the woman's description, her daughter seemed to have indeed encountered something eerie. Maybe he could go take a look, and perhaps even gain more information about the supernatural. With this in mind, Chen Luren quietly followed the middle-aged woman.

The woman was worried about her daughter. Since she couldn't take the fortune-teller with her, she simply left with the amulet. Fortunately, the community where she lived wasn't far from the park—only about 50 meters from the park gate. Therefore, in less than ten minutes, the middle-aged woman arrived downstairs.

A large crowd had already gathered below the building. The police, fire department, and even an ambulance were on the scene. Neighbors who knew the girl's family were also shouting words of persuasion downstairs.

After following the middle-aged woman, Chen Luren looked up at the rooftop. The girl was sitting on the edge of the rooftop. Strangely enough, she was wearing a red outfit, which looked like a traditional Chinese wedding wedding dress. Her feet hung down and swung slowly, as if she could fall at any moment. This naturally made the firefighters dare not act rashly, for the position was simply impossible to rescue from. They could only try their best to persuade her. Arranging a rescue air cushion downstairs was also impossible due to the internal environment of the community.

Chen Luren mingled in the crowd and looked up at the girl in the wedding dress on the rooftop. After a moment, a strange expression appeared on his face. Because at that moment, through his psychic sense, he clearly detected an intuition similar to the first crisis his sister had faced.

"Could it be that this girl has also encountered the Reaper's rules?" When this intuition arose, a gleam appeared in Chen Luren's eyes. After all, this was a good opportunity to observe the Reaper claiming a life from the perspective of a bystander. Maybe he would have a chance to see what this so-called Reaper was really like.

Of course... as someone who believed in the "play it safe" mantra, with his life being the most important, Chen Luren had no thoughts of rescuing anyone. First, facing the Reaper's settings, he really didn't have the strength. He couldn't risk his life to confront the supernatural for the sake of saving someone—this didn't fit Chen Luren's steady character. The second point was that his sister's matter was already making him extremely worried, and he had no time to mind other people's business.

So... Chen Luren mingled in the crowd, patiently waiting for the "arrival" of the Reaper.

Time passed slowly. Unconsciously, more than three hours had passed, and the sky was gradually darkening. However, as the sky dimmed, a strong wind gradually picked up around. The howling wind made the green plants and trees in the community rustle, echoing throughout the community like ghostly wails.

At this time... the girl on the rooftop, who had been deadlocked with the firefighters and police, actually stood up. The moment this scene appeared, the emotions of everyone present tensed up. As for Chen Luren... he now had a strange feeling, as if the auspicious wedding day had arrived.

[The sudden sound of suona horns makes you extremely nervous.

You follow the sound and see large red lanterns floating in the air.

Little ghosts carry a bridal sedan chair and slowly fly past.

Warning: [The deathly aura on you has been sensed by the one in the sedan chair, who is slowly opening the curtain and looking in your direction.]

Hearing the incessant whispers in his ears, Chen Luren suddenly felt his scalp go numb. What made his hair stand on end even more was that with his third-tier psychic intuition, he foresaw a crisis of death.

"Damn... I've been targeted?" Chen Luren took a deep breath and wanted to leave, but for some reason, he felt his body was out of control. Even though he had already had one physical enhancement, he still felt extremely stiff.

As fear permeated his whole body, Chen Luren broke out in a cold sweat.
