Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: War Ends

Arima was confident in his ability to suppress the Eight-Tails, but now that he stood face-to-face with it, he remained vigilant and on guard.

The Eight-Tails was the first to act, launching a Tailed Beast Bomb at Arima.

However, the massive wooden palm of the Statue lifted and deflected the attack high into the sky, rendering it completely ineffective.

Despite its berserk state, the Eight-Tails had not lost its reason.

It had finally broken free from the restraints of its Jinchuriki, and only one last obstacle stood between it and freedom. All it had to do was crush the human before it with everything it had.

But just as it prepared to unleash a volley of Tailed Beast Bombs, a voice echoed in its mind, Kurama's.

"Gyuki, you'd better run," the Nine-Tails warned telepathically. "That young man in front of you is incredibly powerful. Don't forget how Hashirama Senju caught you back then."

Startled, the Eight-Tails, Gyuki, replied in confusion, "Kurama, are you saying that kid is really that strong?"

Kurama spoke with lingering dread. "He's absolutely formidable. Years ago, he entered Mito's mind and saw me several times.

Back then he was just a little genin, not even ten years old. But a few days ago, I spoke with him again through Mito's consciousness... and in that moment, I felt a tremendous threat.

His growth is terrifying. In him, I even saw a shadow of Indra."

Gyuki shuddered at the name. It had once accompanied Indra and his brother, so it knew full well how frightening Indra's talent had been.

The Tailed Beasts hadn't kept in touch for ages, but they were all of one origin.

Kurama, in the end, didn't want Gyuki to suffer the same fate, sealed, forced to give up chakra, enslaved by a Jinchuriki.

Gyuki felt like it was walking on thin ice. At that moment, it wished it had sixteen octopus legs to run away with.

Arima noticed the Eight-Tails, which had been ferocious just a moment ago, suddenly calmed down. He murmured to himself, "It seems like the Eight-Tails just got a lot more docile…"

Just as he was distracted by this thought, the Eight-Tails suddenly launched a barrage of Tailed Beast Bombs. The small-scale bombs flew toward Arima in rapid succession.

Arima couldn't figure out what the beast was up to, none of the attacks aimed directly at him.

Instead, they all struck the wooden statue's arm in front of him. The resulting explosions created a dazzling flash of light and clouds of smoke that temporarily obscured his vision.

Taking advantage of the moment, Gyuki spewed a jet of ink, left behind one of its octopus tails, and transformed it into a replica of itself.

Meanwhile, its true body slipped away into the distance.

With his vision blocked, Arima was forced to use Wind Release: Pressure Damage.

The high-pressure wind sphere formed a swirling storm that cleared away all the smoke and debris in front of him.

But when he laid eyes on the Eight-Tails again, something felt off. The chakra he sensed was less than one-eighth of its original strength.

'Did it exhaust all its chakra in that last barrage?' he thought. 'Strange, but I'd better capture it first before worrying about the details.'

Arima pressed his palms together, his gaze falling on the not-so-distant Eight-Tails, still flailing about as if trying to intimidate him.

"Sage Art: Gate of the Great God." he whispered.

From the sky, a series of massive red torii gates descended instantly, sealing the Eight-Tails from head to tail.

Crushed under the weight of the gates, the beast couldn't move a muscle and could only roar in frustration.

Arima frowned. He had barely used a fraction of his power. "Since when did Tailed Beasts get so hollow on the inside?" he muttered.

Before he could make sense of it, a loud explosion rang out in the distance. He looked up and immediately recognized the source, it was the spot where he had left young Tsunade.

Without hesitation, he activated the Flying Thunder God Technique and vanished.

When he reappeared at Tsunade's location, the scene before him left him both relieved and amused.

He let out a breath and chuckled, "So it was the Eight-Tails... trying to escape by dropping a tail, huh? Fooled me for a second. Looks like Tsunade's having fun with my clone though."

There, the clone was carrying Tsunade on his back, leaping and twirling with ease as the enormous Eight-Tails attacked.

Tsunade waved her little fists excitedly, cheering for her "Arima-nii," with not even a trace of fear in her eyes.

When the enormous creature had first appeared, with its violent chakra and towering size, Tsunade had been paralyzed with fear. She had nearly peed herself.

Shivering, she stumbled over to Arima's clone and instinctively grabbed his hand. To her, he was her rock, her protector.

Sensing her fear and unease, the clone smiled gently, tousled her soft hair, and knelt down, gesturing for her to hop on his back.

Tsunade placed her trust in him without hesitation. She clambered onto his slightly lean back and hugged him tightly around the neck.

Then began the very scene Arima's true self had arrived to witness, the clone carrying her through the Eight-Tails' attacks with reckless grace, hoping to erase the fear in her heart.

At first, she was so terrified by the wild acrobatics that she squeezed her eyes shut and muttered to herself, 'Spin, jump, I've got my eyes closed. If I don't see the monster, it doesn't exist.'

But little by little, she realized she was completely unharmed. When she opened her eyes and saw Arima's confident, agile figure, her fear melted away. Her courage came rushing back.

She raised her tiny fists and shouted at the monstrous creature.

"Come on, you big octopus. I'm Tsunade, the 'Gambling Queen of Konoha, you think I'm scared of you?."

That one shout thrilled her even more. The adrenaline of skimming the edge of death awakened a wild, adventurous spirit buried deep within her.

Seeing that the two of them were in no real danger, Arima simply watched them quietly from the side.

As for Gyuki, it was miserable. In its heart, it cursed its bad luck.

It had already escaped the abyss, but in a moment of over-caution, it had scanned the area, only to sense a familiar chakra signature.

Thinking Arima had caught up, it had made a preemptive strike to avoid being put on the back foot again.

But when it rushed in like lightning, it realized too late that it had made a mistake. It had missed the presence of the girl and mistaken the clone for Arima's true body.

Gyuki was utterly aggrieved. 'Arima... why are there so many of him?.'

Not long after, when Arima saw that Tsunade was getting tired, he said lightly, "The little show ends here."

Once more, he pressed his palms together, summoning even more gates, finally sealing Gyuki's true body completely.

Tsunade was still feeling exhilarated, but before she could say anything, she saw the red gates fall from the sky and pin the monster beneath them.

Just as she turned to ask the clone what was happening, the scene before her shifted. In a blink, they were on a stone platform atop a mountain.

She was still disoriented when she saw yet another "Arima" appear before her. She instantly understood, the real one had sealed the monster himself.

She jumped down from the clone's back, dashed over in a few steps, and threw herself into Arima's arms, hugging his neck tightly and burying her face into his chest, inhaling his scent.

The monster had truly scared her. Now that Arima was here, his warmth allowed her to finally release all the fear and anxiety she had held inside.

She sobbed softly, letting her emotions flow out freely.

Arima comforted her patiently, allowing her to cry and vent as much as she needed.

After a long while, either from exhaustion or from having cried herself dry, Tsunade gradually calmed down.

As her senses returned, she became a little shy. Still nestled in Arima's arms, she didn't want to let go, clinging to that feeling of safety.

Arima had always spoiled her. No matter what she did, he let her be.

He thought to himself, 'The reinforcements from Kumogakure have all been dealt with. Now all that's left is to wrap things up.'

With Tsunade in his arms, Arima used the Flying Thunder God Technique once again and appeared atop the massive wooden statue.

Looking down at the remaining Kumo shinobi below, he declared.

"This is your final warning. Surrender now and abandon all resistance. From this moment on, I, Senju Arima, am taking over this battlefield. Anyone opposed?"

Down below, the remaining shinobi from Kumogakure had been watching anxiously, hoping Lord Taigen and Lord Kin would turn the tide.

But upon hearing Arima's declaration, it was as if they had fallen into an icy abyss. The bitter truth was undeniable now, the war was over, and they were on the losing side.
