Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Shopping Spree 1

Chapter 3: Shopping Spree 1

As I walked into the store, I was immediately greeted by floating screens and holograms of items I vaguely remembered from my past life—like a set of seven golden orbs with orange stars inside them, or a glowing golden arrow with a bottle embedded in the arrowhead. I even spotted a familiar character saying something about summoning allies.

In the past, I hadn't had the chance to browse the expensive stuff since I was focused on saving up. But now? Now that I'd hit my goal—I could finally splurge.

I made my way toward the glowing altar in the center of the shop. As I placed my hand on it, a familiar surge of energy flowed through my body. A new floating screen appeared before me:

Soul Points: 1,550,673

Seeing the number I'd painstakingly saved up felt like finally eating the best part of a dish after saving it for last. A sweet, euphoric warmth bloomed in my chest.

"Sigh… It really does feel good when you achieve your goals."

If I could see my own face, I bet I'd look like some enlightened monk.

"So what will you do with all those points?"

asked my partner, Jackson.

"Isn't it obvious?"

I grinned at him.

"SHOPPING SPREE!!"

I shouted as I burst into the main section of the Soul Point Store, pushing a large cart—and yes, Jackson was sitting in it with a confused look as I zoomed through the aisles. Other souls turned to look, their faces showing a mix of confusion and surprise.

"Wait, don't you already have a list?"

Jackson asked from the cart, raising a brow.

"Yup! But getting a few extras won't hurt."

I grinned again.

We started browsing through various stalls, each offering countless perks for one's next life. The possibilities were endless.

"Now, first, we need three things."

I pulled out a folded piece of paper with only three items scribbled on it:

Memory Keeper

Travel System

OP Abilities

Jackson looked at it, then at me, with a deadpan stare.

"Really? After all this time, you only thought of these three?"

"Ehh... I only had a few minutes in my former body before. By the time I realized I could stay in them longer, I was already in my 100th life! So sorry if I didn't have the time to peruse the whole store for flashy abilities,"

I replied with a sarcastic tone, matching his disbelief.

We looked at each other—then both burst out laughing. Just like that, the tension vanished.

We headed to a store named Mnemosyne: Store of Remembrance. The entrance had soft, glowing letters and a calm, serene aura. Inside, we found floating screens labeled Memory Exchange.

"Why do you even need to exchange your memories when you already have so many?"

Jackson asked curiously.

"Well, when I said I didn't have time to browse, I meant I didn't have time to extract and organize the memories either. They're all still in my head. There's too much in there—I even had to solidify them as images in a mental space just to make room."

"So... basically, your brain is a second piggy bank? That's one way to save points,"

Jackson said, resting his head on the edge of the shopping cart.

"Yup. I've got a lot stored in there. Let's see how much I can get if I cash in… Wanna bet?"

I smirked.

Jackson perked up. "Sure, what kind of bet?"

"Guess how many points I'll get if I sacrifice almost everything in here."

"Almost?" he asked, tilting his head.

"Yeah, I'm keeping a few things. Some of my past lives became ridiculously successful—some even had knowledge from worlds I plan to visit."

"I bet you'll get around 500k,"

he said, lying back in the cart with his arms behind his head and legs dangling off the edge.

"500k? Pfft, my guess is at least a million,"

I replied confidently.

"What do I get if I win?"

Jackson asked before I could press the button.

"Hmmm… How about I buy you something from the store? Something to make sure you never forget me."

"Bet," he said with a grin.

I pressed the button. As the memories began to fade, I waited for the result. And then—

"F*!"**

The number appeared on the screen:

Soul Points Exchanged: 549,327

"Ha!"

Jackson's laughter echoed through the store, smug and loud.

"Well, looks like I won,"

he said with a wicked grin, practically glowing with pride.

Sigh... "Yeah, yeah. Adding that to my total, it's around 2.1 million points."

"Damn. That's a lotta moolah,"

Jackson said, clearly impressed.

I pushed the cart over to a nearby table and began looking at the items I had originally planned to buy.
