Lunch ended, but my thoughts didn't.
Kai's words echoed in my head like a looping track — "don't confused people like that." He looked angry at that time.
It wasn't like him.
I glanced around the courtyard. No sign of him.
Then I remembered — the rooftop.
Everyone knew Kai's favorite place was the school rooftop. It was quiet and away from people. He went there when he needed air. Or when he was upset.
I climbed the stairs, heart weirdly heavy, and gently pushed open the rooftop door.
"Kai?" I called softly.
The wind was the only thing that replied.
I stepped out, glancing around — empty.
Until suddenly—
WHAM! I was spun around and pinned gently against the rooftop wall.
"Kai?!"
He stood inches away, one hand beside my head. His eyes locked with mine, intense and unreadable.
My breath caught.
Too close. Way too close.
"You looking for someone?" he asked, voice low, teasing, but edged with something else.
"I—I was worried," I stammered.
His eyes searched mine. "Why?"
"Because… you seemed ."
"Seemed what?"
I blinked. "Just worried and nothing , Kai."
Silence.
Then his voice dipped. "Did something happen last night? With Theo?"
My heart skipped.
I could hear it — the jealousy, the insecurity in his question.
"No," I said honestly. "We just talked. About stars, that's it."
Kai closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them again, I saw it — relief washing over his face like a wave.
He slowly stepped back, the tension leaving his shoulders.
"Good," he murmured. "That's… good."
I blinked. "You really thought I'd—?"
"I didn't want to think it," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "I just don't like him."
I didn't know what to say but i thought to ask him if he likes me? But I'm scared to ask.
Because right now? I'm still confused about my feelings and if he confessed me then I don't have any answer of this.
