"You see, young wolf," the voice echoed in my mind again, smooth and deep like ancient stone, "this world has many gods. Some are gods of living creatures, others of concepts—like time, death, war, hunger... even silence. And just like other beings, wolves have a god too. The Wolf God."
"...Wait. That's it? Wolf God?" I muttered.
"Can't he have a cooler name? Like 'All-Mighty Howler' or 'Fang of the Skies' or something badass? Just 'Wolf God'? Come on."
SMACK!
Something hit the back of my head so hard I thought my skull cracked open.
"AAOOOOOOWWW! What the fuck?! Who hit me?!" I spun around, fur bristling, teeth bared.
Then I saw him.
A massive snow-white wolf, larger than any creature I'd ever seen. He was majestic. Regal. A divine aura shimmered around his body in hues of gold and silver. His very presence made the air feel heavier... sacred.
"It was me," the great wolf said calmly, his voice no longer just in my head but vibrating through the very ground. "Young wolf, I understand that you do not yet understand the ways of the gods. But I will not tolerate you insulting the Wolf God. Show some respect. Now, sit. Shut up. And let me continue."
Tears welled in my eyes as I rubbed the sore spot on my head with my paw.
"Okay, okay… I get it. No more god jokes."
"Good," he said, then sat regally on a rock as though nothing had happened. "Now… where was I?"
He cleared his throat with a low growl.
"Yes. The Wolf God. You see, he created trials across the world—sacred places filled with tests meant for wolves who awaken the ancient blood within their veins. These trials are guarded by spirits, like myself. But not just wolves. Every intelligent race in this world—humans, elves, goblins, dragons, orcs—all have gods. And those gods created their own trial grounds, tailored for their kind. Each test helps those with powerful bloodlines to grow stronger… to unlock their potential… to understand their purpose."
I sat there, stunned.
So it's not just wolves. There are elves? Goblins? And fucking dragons?!
This world just got ten times more interesting… and ten times more dangerous.
I wanted to ask a thousand questions. About magic. About the other races. About what kind of god would design a hentai tentacle wolf as a test. But I kept my muzzle shut. For once.
"Yes… I understand," I said in wolf tongue, trying to sound as respectful as possible.
The great white wolf tilted his head and smiled—a rare, peaceful expression.
"You are the most intelligent young wolf I've ever seen in my lifetime."
"Seriously?" My ears perked up.
"Yes. You see, most wolves below Level 50 are little more than instinct-driven beasts. They can't understand speech, can't ask questions, can't reason. You, on the other paw… you're at Level 10 and you're already understanding my words, talking back, and even questioning the system."
"Wait wait wait…" I paused, tail wagging in confusion. "Did you just say level? Like... I'm at Level 10? How the hell do you know that? How do I know that? How do I even check?! Is this some RPG game now?!"
The white wolf let out a sigh.
"I told you, young one, I would explain everything… but you keep interrupting."
"I'm sorry! But you just dropped a leveling system on me out of nowhere! I'm confused, okay?"
"Aiiiyaaa…" he muttered, shaking his head. "Very well. Listen closely now."
He stood tall again, his golden aura flickering like flames.
"When you pass the next and final test, you shall receive the blessing of the Wolf God. That blessing will unlock everything. Your level, your traits, your instincts… all will become clear. You'll awaken the true powers of your bloodline."
"So there's one more test?" I asked, ears twitching.
"Yes. One final trial," he said. "But compared to the last one, this one is simple…"
I raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess—kill more creepy monsters?"
He chuckled. "Exactly. You will be sent to a place filled with hostile creatures. Kill as many as you can. The more you slay, the stronger your blessing will be."
"Just kill?"
"Yes."
"No tentacles?"
"…Hopefully not."
That was enough for me.
"Alright. I'm in."
"Good," he said.
Suddenly, a blue portal opened behind me. Its swirling energy pulled at my fur.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Before I could react, I was sucked in like a piece of dust caught in a vacuum.
