Synopsis
[Mature content. R18, no rape] “That fiancé of yours is nothing if not two faced!” Ava spat angrily as she faced the man in front of her with clenched fists. Eitan's eyebrows twitched lightly. “Mind your manners Ava… she's my wife to be.” Ava seemed offended, like her heart had been torn into a million pieces. Her voice was low, “So what she did to me doesn't matter?... Because she's going to be your… wife?” Eitan turned away as if to avoid her hurt eyes. “...Yes… it doesn't.” **** Ava is a beautiful, healthy, and experienced… criminal. Yes, a criminal who hated her sick job. But it wasn't like she had a choice. Her parents had died and left her with the responsibility to handle their large debt, and she had no other way but to be forced to repay it, legally or illegally… or she suffers an even worse fate… But things are bound to take a drastic turn on what could be seen as her last criminal act. A "fatal" accident and a limited edition car might just be enough to change her life… **** “You almost killed me!” Ava bit out, gritting her teeth. Eitan's expression didn't shift in the slightest. “Yes, but you're alive now, so it hardly matters.”

Chapter 1 - Assassination

"Pull the trigger, Walter, or else I'll take the gun from you and do it myself!" A masked lady said urgently, her eyes darting around. "Someone could come here at any moment–"

She looked anxiously out of the glassless window of a building still in construction, chewing on her lower lip. The man she had yelled at was genuflecting with one knee to the cold hard ground, with a rifle that was propped up on the window in his hands.

"I'm trying my best!." A masked Walter shot back, his grey eyes still on the weapon. "Don't you know how difficult it is to aim at a moving target?"

"Everyone here, including Ava, knows that, Walter." A female voice sounded from behind both of them. "You're just bad at using guns."

The lady named Ava quickly turned her head full of golden blonde locks backwards, her sapphire eyes practically sparkling. "Kyla, you're back!" She exclaimed. "Were there any problems?"

Kyla, who was also masked, shook her head, her dark bob cut waving. "None that I could see. Everything's moving smoothly so far…" Her dark eyes moved towards Walter. "The only thing left is the target."

"I'm. trying. my. best." Walter said through gritted teeth.

"Well, your best isn't going to cut it." Ava interrupted. "We have to get her before she goes into the car… let me just do it."

Walter looked up at her skeptically. "You've never used a rifle before!"

Ava folded her arms. "But I know how to use a gun."

"They're not the same!"

"They look the same to me."

"Oh for f*ck sake, quit this stupid argument!" Kyla chimed in an irritated tone. "Walter, give her the gun."

"Yes!" Ava cheered.

"No!" Walter insisted. "She wouldn't know how to use it!"

"You aren't any good at using it now, are you?" Kyla asked, pointing at him accusingly. "You've only tried it once, that doesn't guarantee–"

"But Ava hasn't tried it at all!"

A vein seemed to pop at Kyla's temple as her lips twitched. He had obviously gotten on her nerves. "Why do you always have to be so stubborn? Give Ava the rifle."

Walter's face scrunched in an ugly manner and he almost looked like he was going to argue but he eventually gave in.

"Tsk." He clicked his tongue, roughly shoved the gun at Ava and walked away.

"Oof!" Ava winced as she took hold of it and shot a glare at Walter. "You don't have to be so crude…"

She then rolled her eyes in exasperation and took her place on the cold floor, facing the outside through the glassless window.

Their target was at a lengthy distance, more than a thousand feet away from them. Although the party their target was currently attending was masquerade themed, they were able to tell her apart by her dress.

Her name was Evie Alrosa, and they needed her dead.

"How is it?" Kyla asked.

"Mhmm…" Ava responded. "She's moving and mingling with a bunch of people but I'm following her just fine."

Kyla grunted. "You think you'll be able to get a headshot?"

Ava laughed nervously. "Absolutely not. This thing's harder than it looks." She winced. "And heavier too."

Kyla sighed. "Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about a rifle…" Her eyes moved pointedly to where Walter was sulking. "At least you can aim." She said, making him scoff.

Ava giggled. Using the sight of the rifle, her aim followed the woman named Evie, as she stopped briefly to greet someone.

'She's pretty… even through the mask…' Ava thought remorsefully, as she locked on. 'It's a shame…'

Just as she was about to pull the trigger, a really fancy car pulled up in front of the venue, taking everyone's attention.

Evie moved.

"Damn it!" Ava cursed softly. "Who's that bitch?"

"What's wrong?" Kyla asked urgently.

Ava sighed. "A super fancy car just showed up and it messed up my targeting."

"Haha…" Kyla laughed, relieved. "If that's what happened, then Evie wouldn't be leaving anytime soon… still, we need to hurry up."

"Right." Ava answered. She watched as the owner of the car made his way out. At the sight of him, she'd almost forgotten to breathe.

"Who…" She whispered. "Who is that?"

Kyla looked confused. "Who's who?"

"The man who just stepped out from the car." Ava added.

Kyla's lips twitched. "I can't see him, Cookie." She shook her head. "But if you describe him, I might be able to tell."

Ava nodded. "He's really tall and a bit pale, he's got really dark hair… his eyes are… I can't tell their color from this far away."

"Very dark hair… pale… there was no information about him being here…" Kyla mused. "Did he step out of a Mclaren?"

Ava furrowed her eyebrows. "Mclaren? What's that?"

Kyla rolled her eyes. "Nevermind. That must be Eitan Berger then."

Ava tilted her head slightly. "Berger? I think I've heard that name before…"

Just then, a walkie talkie hanging on Kyla's hip crackled to life.

"Kyla, tell Walter to shoot now!" They could immediately tell it was their leader's voice and he sounded desperate. "Berger isn't here alone!"

"Vince? What…" Kyla looked dazed for a few seconds before she asked, "What's the situation?"

"It's like Berger somehow got wind of the assassination plan and brought the police force here." Vince explained. "His entrance is a distraction, the rest are roaming."

Kyla was shocked. "But how did he…?"

"Fuck! I don't know either!" Vince yelled. "Now tell Walter to pull the trigger!"

Kyla's eyes jerked towards Ava. "You heard him!"

Ava didn't even have the time to nod, she frantically locked onto her target, her index finger already on the trigger when she noticed some men in uniform heading towards them through an empty path.

"I think… I think the police know exactly where we are." Ava voiced shakily, her heart beating wildly in her chest.

Cold sweat was already dripping from Kyla's forehead. "It doesn't matter, shoot!"

Ava's palms had already begun to grow cold from nervousness.

If they were caught here, this would basically be the end.

"What…" She said in a voice that was barely audible. "If… if I shoot now, she wouldn't–"

"Tsk!" Kyla clicked her tongue in irritation. "Just shoot the damn girl or we're all going to jail!" She screamed, quickly reaching for the rifle in Ava's grasp and forcefully pulling the trigger.

BOOM!!
