Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Three Idiots of the Group? (2)

[Nanashi has sent a Doomsday Points red envelope!]

Angel of Power has received it!

March 7th has received it!

Aqua has received it!

Saeko has received it!

March 7th:"Whoa! I got 100 points! Lucky me! Thanks, boss! Love ya!"

Lemuel:"I got 80 points, thanks boss!"

Aqua:"What the hell?! Why do I only get 50 again?! Is my goddess luck gone?!"

Saeko:"70 points, thank you, Nanashi-kun."

Although it hurt his pocket a little, it didn't matter.

300 points were nothing compared to the S-Level ability he had just drawn.

Besides, testing out the new group functions made it totally worth it.

Suddenly, a sharp voice called out.

"Nanashi-kun, can you hear me?"

Pulled from his thoughts, Nanashi turned his attention back to reality—only to find total darkness surrounding him.

Instinctively, he reached out.

"Eep!"

A shocked gasp.

Nanashi froze.

Something was… off.

Had he just touched something he shouldn't have?

He swiftly withdrew his hand.

Two awkward coughs.

"Ahem… uh… what happened?"

Silence.

Then, a soft, trembling voice broke the tension in the darkness…

"T-The zombies outside the window were acting strangely, so I turned off the lights."

Nanashi approached the window.

This time, he made sure to confirm Yukino's position to avoid any more accidental contact.

Lifting part of the covers, he carefully cracked the window open.

Immediately, a chaotic chorus of inhuman sounds erupted.

"Roar!" "Ga-roar!" "Hiss!"

The frenzied howls of the zombies outside filled the air as if they had been injected with pure adrenaline.

Without hesitation, Nanashi silently shut the window and slipped back under the covers.

And he voices his suspicion softly.

"I think it's because it's nighttime. The zombies seem more active."

"It's probably best not to turn on any lights at night to avoid drawing attention. I'd really like to get some proper sleep."

"Okay," Yukino replied softly.

An awkward silence settled between them.

Finally, Nanashi broke the tension.

"Uh… how about we just go to sleep first?"

"Okay."

Hearing Yukino shift on the bed, Nanashi lay down. She did the same, settling onto the bed across from him.

In the darkness, Yukino lightly pressed the hem of her skirt with her small hands, biting her lip.

A faint warmth lingered on her skin.

It was her first time sharing a room with a boy, and the mix of nervousness, embarrassment, and unease made it impossible for her to sleep soundly.

Nanashi, on the other hand, had been busy all day and was thoroughly exhausted. Within moments, his breathing evened out as he drifted into sleep.

Hearing his steady breathing, Yukino exhaled quietly and tried to relax.

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and surrendered to sleep.

[Morning]

Rustling.

A faint noise stirred her.

Yukino opened her eyes.

Nanashi was already awake, stretching with his upper body bare.

She slowly sat up.

There wasn't any sound from outside.

Nanashi wiped the sweat from his forehead before turning to her. "Did I wake you?"

"No, I just woke up on my own."

As she spoke, Nanashi sat across from her, using a towel—presumably clean—to dry the sweat from his face.

Yukino's gaze lingered on his toned, smooth skin and lean muscles, as well as his strikingly good looking face.

She found herself unable to look away.

For the first time, she somewhat understood why some girls were drawn to athletic, good-looking guys.

"Uh?"

Nanashi's eyes met hers.

Yukino quickly averted her gaze and stiffly changed the subject.

"So… what's your plan for today?"

"I'm going to clear out some zombies, but I'm worried about you."

His concern sent a gentle warmth through her heart.
