"But... But I did the right thing! I can't-.. I can't be in jail!"
. . .
My name is Beryl Rosemary. I am a twelve year old girl, living in a simple life. I am an only child. My favorite color is lavender and sky blue. I like swimming, reading and drawing.

"Beryl, do the dishes!"
A yell from my mother, coming from downstairs.
"Coming, mom!"
I said as I quickly rushed downstairs.
"Great, now do the dishes. I'll be gone for two hours."
Mother stated, her tone leaving no room for argument. I could tell that if I said one more word, I'll be grounded for a month.
"Okay, mom."
I said, quickly washing the dishes as she walks away.
After I'm done washing the dishes, father suddenly yelled at me.
"Buy me some cigarettes, brat!"
He demanded.
"But-"
"No buts!"
"I need the money, father.."
"Use your own money, goddamnit! Are you that stupid?!"
I lowered my head, desperately trying to hold the tears that were about to stream down across my face.
"Now go outside before I force you to!"
Father yelled.
I quickly ran outside.
