Elton had gone out and was coming back home late when his cycle started early. He was caught by a group of other Genmen and limped home bred by no less than eight of them. Charlie helped him through it, wiped his tears, fixed his scrapes, cleaned his vent for him, and placed him in bed.
Nine months later, after thirty-two hours of labor, Lex had to help the very large Ray into the world. During the process, he had pinched a nerve in Elton's back, and he now walked with a limp.
The baby was hungry as usual. There was no way Elton could feed him enough—Ray weighed eighteen pounds when he was born and was still growing. Charlie sat down, put him on his gland, and fed the hungry child. Elton thanked his roommate for all his help with little Ray.
"Elton, when you go to make that big red bastard pay for his kid, he looks just like Red. He should be the one here with you, not me."
