Chapter 74 - Ch 74: Climate

Chapter 74: Climate

While Jiraiya was investigating Ayaan's past, and Uchiha Obito was accelerating his recruitment efforts for Akatsuki, Ayaan himself was far from idle. He was setting off in search of some legendary treasures he had seen in the Naruto movies.

The most coveted of all was, of course, the Giant Tensaigan on the moon. Unfortunately, while Ayaan desired it greatly, there was no feasible way to reach it—at least for now.

This wasn't the One Piece world, where you could just grab a hot air balloon and fly off to the moon. Even though reaching the moon in the Naruto world was theoretically easier than in real life, it was still no simple task.

As for the rumored "Space channel" that led to the moon, Ayaan had found no clues so far. For now, he had to put the idea of obtaining the Giant Tensaigan aside.

Another major source of interest was the dragon vein of Roran, a chakra source with space-time properties—reportedly capable of traveling to parallel worlds. More importantly, its location was known. So, Ayaan set his sights on it as his next target.

This time, Ayaan wasn't traveling alone. Alongside him was Nagato, now fully recovered and bearing a changed appearance thanks to Ayaan's help.

Having spent most of his life confined to the Land of Rain, this was Nagato's first time traveling far—especially to Roran, a small desert nation located within the borders of the Wind Country. It was the polar opposite of the rain-soaked Land of Rain.

Now freed from the burden of the Rinnegan and his self-imposed "god complex," Nagato had reverted to a more youthful state of mind. As they crossed the arid terrain, he stared at the vast desert with curious wonder.

"The Land of Rain is soaked year-round, and the Land of Wind is bone dry. I wonder if it's just the terrain—or if it also has to do with the ancient battle where the Sage of Six Paths sealed Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki," Ayaan mused, noticing Nagato's awe-struck expression.

While the climate in Naruto wasn't as absurdly diverse as the Grand Line in One Piece, it still exhibited clear, unnatural patterns. Each of the Five Great Nations had sharply distinct weather, with no transitional zones.

There were thunderclouds that never dispersed in the Land of Lightning, and literal rock rain in the Land of Earth—things impossible under normal weather conditions.

But people in this world had long adapted. Since they had always lived in these environments, they never questioned their origins—just like the people of One Piece never questioned how islands floated in the sky.

"But would a battle from thousands of years ago still affect the world's weather today?" Nagato asked skeptically.

Ayaan pointed upward. "If they could create the moon, do you really think permanently altering the world's climate is harder?"

Nagato fell silent. In the face of such godlike feats, weather manipulation suddenly felt trivial.

"Then why didn't the Sage of Six Paths restore the climate after defeating Kaguya?" Nagato asked, his tone slightly resentful. After all, his homeland had suffered due to the unending rain.

Ayaan tilted his head. "Just a guess, but maybe it's because creation is harder than destruction? Making weather worse is easy—but stabilizing an entire planetary climate system? That's something else entirely."

"Plus, back then, no one understood meteorology. So trying to fix one country's weather might've worsened another's. Heal the Fire Country's storms, and maybe you cause flooding in the Land of Water."

They continued walking through the endless desert. Although it looked like a normal pace, each of Ayaan's steps covered over ten meters—far faster than any normal jonin.

This wasn't a Devil Fruit ability but rather Ayaan's refined use of Rinnegan's gravity control. While Nagato had only ever used it for offense or defense, Ayaan had pushed the power to its limits—effectively mimicking the "Shrinking Earth Technique" for swift travel.

Thanks to the Baku Baku no Mi , which he had modified to attune perfectly with his chakra, the Rinnegan had essentially become his personal, enhanced version.

Nagato, still fascinated by the climate discussion, clearly wanted to find a way to fix the weather in the Land of Rain—but since they had no real answers yet, their talk ended. The two picked up their pace and arrived in Roran within a single day.

"This is Roran? Doesn't look like the info you gave me," Nagato said, surveying the half-ruined city.

"It's still Roran," Ayaan said with a roll of his eyes. "The data I had was from three years ago—before the dragon vein was sealed."

"Now that it's been cut off, the place has eroded badly. The wind and sand, plus the war back then, have left it in ruins."

And not just the city—Roran's population had clearly dropped. Many had likely migrated in search of food and water. When the dragon vein was active, it sustained them. Without it, survival became a struggle.

The city was barely holding together on its remaining resources. Ayaan recalled that in the anime, Roran would be completely abandoned in a few decades.

As Ayaan and Nagato entered the town with commanding auras, the townspeople watched in awe and fear. Clearly, they recognized the symbols and clothing of powerful shinobi—especially the Rain Ninja forehead protector Nagato still wore.

Unfortunately, Queen Sāra's residence—once a towering spire—had already collapsed. They had no idea where she was now.
