Chapter 48 - Chapter 45 She’s Hot...

Aveline

After that hot kiss, we were now eating breakfast… but my face was still red from the mark. Why lie? I'll just say I applied too much blush.

Adam kept looking at me with that teasing smirk.

"Yeah? What's wrong, Adam?" I asked.

"Well…" He stretched his arms dramatically, like he's about to expose some top-secret mystery. "You and Ruby… got something going on, right?"

I choked on my drink.

Ruby, calm as ever, handed me a glass of water. "Adam," she said coldly, "you better keep quiet… or I'll have to do something."

Bro was shook. Like, she was serious-serious. And for me… she stood up for me. Even Mireline was side-eyeing me like she knew more than she let on.

After breakfast, Ruby took me somewhere random. Just the two of us.

"Where are we going?" I asked, looking over at her driving.

She raised a brow. "Why're you looking at me like I kidnapped you, Rabbit?"

"Because you did."

"Be quiet, or I'll make you."

"How?"

Yeah. That was a mistake. Shouldn't have said that. I just gave her the green light to be extra.

We arrived at this peaceful, stunning spot. Like a garden out of a dream—birds chirping, flowers blooming. It was beautiful.

"Thank you, Ruby," I whispered, genuinely soft.

She grabbed my hand and led me deeper into the garden. She had set up a whole picnic. For us.

She sat against a tree, and of course, I sat right beside her. That chain on her neck? It caught my eye again. Curiosity? Yeah. I had no manners left—I reached for it like a criminal cat stealing something shiny. She just smirked and took my hand, guiding it to the chain like, go on, play with it.

I rested my head on her shoulder, fully in play mode now—not with the chain, with her.

"You're being naughty, Rabbit," she said lowly. "Lemme teach you some manners."

Suddenly, she grabbed my wrists—I was under her now, pinned.

"R-Ruby! What the hell are you doing?" I was nervous, duh.

"Nothing," she said, voice dripping like warm honey, "just teaching you a lesson."

She kissed my neck like she was testing me… and then sat up like nothing just happened.

Later, we returned to the resort. Mireline pulled me aside, suspicious.

"Something happen?" she asked.

"Nope. Nothing."

"That hickey?"

"Spider bite. Giant one."

Anyway—BBQ night, dancing at the beach, and Ruby being an unstoppable flirt. Honestly? I didn't want her to stop.

After five dreamy days, we had to leave. I didn't want to, but Ruby promised we'd come back. And… I believe her. No clue why—but I do.

Back home, I updated Mom and Dad about the trip. Well, not all of it… just the PG parts.

Then Kai texted me.

He's my boyfriend—yeah, technically.

"Wanna grab a drink?"

I said yes. Figured maybe it's time we fix things. I mean… I've been cheating. With Ruby. And I felt guilty—waves of guilt, in fact—but I shoved it down.

At 5 PM, I went to his place. He gave me a side hug, and we sat, talked, laughed. I told him about the resort—again, edited version.

Two hours passed. We leaned in, about to kiss.

And then—

A bang. Loud. Aggressive. On the door.

Not a knock. A full-on bang.

Like someone was about to break it down.
