Chapter 53 - Chapter 50 She Got Kidnapped

Ruby

I was at my company Lune's Foundation, working late again. It was already 11 PM and I was dead tired, ready to head home, until my phone started buzzing.

No, not buzzing—blowing up.

Alia. Mireline. Her mom. My dad.

Even Max.

What the hell?

I picked up Mireline's call. She was crying.

"Where is Aveline?!" she shouted, her voice already cracking.

I was thrown off.

"How should I know? She's not with me. We had a fight—she hasn't talked to me since."

"Ruby, she didn't come home. Alia said she left earlier after an argument with Kai and just... vanished. Her phone is off. She hasn't texted. Nothing."

Chill's ran through my whole body

That was the moment everything froze.

No. No way. This can't be happening.

It's him. That bastard Kai.

"Mireline, listen—did you try calling Kai?"

"Of course I fucking did!" she snapped. "He's not answering either! Ruby, please. Do something. Bring my sister back. Bring her back alive."

Her voice cracked at the end, shattered and desperate. I swear, my chest physically ached.

"I will," I whispered. "I promise."

I hung up and I called Adam. Then Luna. My gang. My people.

"Kai fucking kidnapped her. I don't care what you do—hack, trace, threaten, burn the whole city down—just bring Aveline back. And keep her alive."

---

Next morning

It was already morning. I was still losing it. No leads. No messages. Nothing but silence.

I couldn't wait anymore. I grabbed my keys, drove like hell to the university. My gut was screaming.

And then—I saw him.

That smug fucker. Kai.

I marched straight up to him, grabbed his collar.

"Where the hell is she?"

He tried to act cool, but he flinched. Couldn't even meet my eyes.

"I don't know," he mumbled.

"BULLSHIT." I snarled. "You know exactly where she is. Spit it out before I ruin your fucking life."

I didn't do anything Ruby Daniel Sun he smirked at me that shit

He smirked, like the piece of shit he is.

"Yeah. I did it. She's mine, Ruby. Go find her—if you can."

Go find her ruby you're her protector after all but he leans close, be careful she might die

He chucked lowly like venom

That's when Adam called.

"We found her," he said. My heart dropped.

I'll see you later you mother fucker

I was already in the car, speeding like a storm.

They sent the location. An abandoned warehouse.

Of course. Classic villain move.

---

I got there. Bad vibes instantly. I told Adam and Luna to cover me.

We moved in.

Silence.

Then—I saw her.

Aveline. Tied up. Bruised. Scared. Eyes red from crying.

My soul left my body for a second.

I ran to her, dropped to my knees.

BANG.

A warning shot.

Four masked guys emerged from the shadows, guns aimed at Adam and Luna.

Then one of them walked up behind Aveline. Put a gun to her head.

My entire body snapped.

"Don't you dare touch her, you fucking bastards!"

One of them laughed. "What can you do? You're just some rich girl playing gangster."

...oh honey. You really don't know who I am.

I grabbed a steel pipe from the floor. Swung. Hard. Knocked one of them cold.

Another raised his gun. I ducked, tackled him, snatched the weapon, aimed back.

Aveline was crying. I could barely breathe.

Just hold on, Rabbit.

She broke free, ran to me.

Then—

Gunshot.

One of them aimed for her. I jumped. Took the bullet. Right side of my back.

Pain.

Fire.

But she was safe.

I held her close, covering her eyes.

"Don't look. I got you. You're safe now."

She was trembling. Shaking.

Her voice cracked. "Ruby, you're... you're bleeding."

"Shhh. Doesn't matter. You matter. Just hold on to me."

I carried her out. My vision was blurring. Everything was spinning. I didn't care.

Adam and Luna cleared the rest. We made it out.

---

Her leg was injured. Her arm, bleeding.

I forgot about my own pain.

Seeing her like that? It broke me.

I tried to drive, but I was losing too much blood. My grip on the wheel was slipping.

Adam took the wheel. Luna held pressure on my back.

Aveline was crying, screaming my name.

That was the last thing I remembered.

Then—nothing.
