In another part of the universe, in a galaxy far far away, on a planet that was mostly purple in colour, a young purple boy who with what seemed to be three small antennas on his head, was sitting in front of a large holographic display trying to find something to watch.
"Why has there been nothing worth watching this month? Everything is either poor quality or has crap acting, nothing decent has been released in months since the universal actors guild went on strike over pay disputes."
"Don't tell me I'm going to have to check out the streaming platforms, there's even less chance of something decent being on there. The actors' strike is also affecting the production of new top quality games and don't get me started on those IRL streams, they're all so fake it's stupid."
As he used his uniband to switch the holographic display to one of the streaming platforms his attention was caught by a banner at the very top that was advertising a stream for someone called Codename: S.P.E.C.T.O.R.
One side of the banner showed the live coverage of the stream without any sound while the other side gave the stream description.
"Spector's revenge, eliminate the coroner." The boy mumbled as his attention was caught by the sight of someone riding what looked like a vehicle through the streets of a city while avoiding other larger vehicles.
Finally having found something that looked interesting he opened the stream and watched the streamer ride his vehicle through the City while also paying attention to the chat as he tried to figure out the scenario.
After a few minutes he figured out that the streamers target had somehow escaped and that the streamer was now in pursuit of him, what he found most amusing though was the viewers in the chat who thought that the streamer was playing a video game.
The boy of-course knew it was completely IRL because he was connected to a streaming platform using the universal subspace network which was far more advanced than the streaming platform that the people on Earth were using. The streaming platforms of the universal subspace network could automatically tell what sort of content was being streamed and advertised it accordingly.
"How do these people lack such common knowledge?" The boy wondered before deciding to find out about the planet Earth that they all seemed to be from.
The universal subspace network contains information on all planets that are connected to it and all the boy had to do was select (Earth) from one of the chatters and he would be able to see all information the network had on it.
However as he selected it the only response he got was an error message saying [Unknown Planet, No Information Available.]
This surprised the boy as he couldn't understand how these viewers were able to watch and even chat in the stream when their planet was unknown and not connected to the universal subspace network.
After thinking for a few minutes and paying closer attention to the stream he noticed that the level of technology on the planet shown in the stream was ridiculously low, some would almost say archaic compared to his own planet and those connected to the universal subspace network.
"Is that why they think it's a game? Because their technological level is so low they can't tell the difference straight away."
"But the question of how they gained access to the universal subspace network still remains."
Because he could not figure out the reason himself and his curiosity kept nagging at him about it, he decided to jump on the social media app Xer-verse and post an article about it asking if anyone knew the reason.
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): Just found an entertaining stream (yes I know what you're all thinking) however it caught my attention because it's an IRL stream on a planet where they don't seem to have reached the technological stage of space exploration.
Also the viewers and chatters are all from a planet called Earth which is not connected to the universal subspace network.
Can anyone tell me how this can be?]
After writing the post he focussed back on the stream and decided to try talking in chat.
