Chapter 4 - The Battle And Emotions

Raven POV

I had not yet read about this beast but I might have been close to it because I could remember there was a line that said to be wary of caves, for many beasts made home therein. Fuck why was I recalling this just now. it would have been very useful before we got into the cave and became trapped. I mean which beast won't love a hot spring huh..?

"So this is not good" Cole suddenly mumbled and I gave him a glare.

"Do you think I don't know that?" I hissed out and the strangest of things suddenly happened, the python turned to my form and bent low to properly look at me very well then it glanced at the others.

"what's going on?" Selene whispered into the now silent air and the snake tom it as it's cue to attack.

It flung it tail at us and without thinking, the two wolves transformed into their beasts, one dark green and the other brown, reflecting their eye color.

And begun to tear at the snake's tail, it became much more angry than it had been and lunged at them with its mouths wide open, and that was when I striked.

My body changed quickly, growing more bigger and I slammed my sharp claws right into the right head of the snake, tearing it off clean as the other hissed out a painful cry before falling back with its eyes staring at me with malice.

Oh boy. I thought and dodged a sudden throw of venom, of course the snake had venom. it singed the ground where I was on before, burning away the rock that was on it.

I jumped up, matching at the wall and forcing my body to propel me forward, slamming my foot into the face of the beast before raking down it body with my claws as red blood splattered around the place and all over my body too.

A sharp wail and the beast slumped to the ground, twitching one last time before it died. Two beasts dead in the space of six hours, way to go witch.

"Jeezzz" Filled my ears as I landed lightly on my feet and willed my body to change back to its normal form, I was getting better at this and the sudden pain now felt more of an annoying prick than a hurtful one.

"you're...---What are you?" fear filled those words as I slumped to the ground, exhausted beyond measure. My system was still adapting and I was been forced into fighting in a form that I knew little to nothing about.

"Are you okay?" Cole asked with concern in his voice and I gave a short nod before dragging the bag to me and putting my head on it.

"Get some rest, you'll feel better" I closed my eyes and fell into a deep slumber where instead of pains and hatred like my former life, I was running free in the woods, happy.

***************

When next I woke up, I sniffed to the scent of sizzling meat and fish? snapping my eyes open wide, I found Cole stood over a fire outside the cave with a wooden barbecue stand above the fire.

Standing to the side was Selene who was rubbing the fish and meat up with a sort of spice that had my mouth watering.

"You're awake" Selene smiled genuinely at me, in opposition to the fear from last night's events.

"What's going on?" I asked as I stood up, my energy levels overflowing and I felt no fatigue whatsoever, guess that was another perk. I suddenly found out that I was beginning to fancy being this way, my human life was not this exciting and carefree so although it was new to me, I loved every single moment-- except the battles.

"We caught some wicked rabbits and some fishes to cook, she made stew with one and I'm steaming this to go with it" I looked around and found a small iron pot to the side--I could perceive a sweet scent coming from it.

"You guys were ready for this" I mumbled offhandedly and saw their face sadden.

"What happened?" I asked, feeling like I should get to know them.

"We were exiled after my father's execution for something he did not do." Cole whispered with a saddened voice and I felt my heart ache for his loss.

"That's harsh and wicked" I commented.

"Yeah, I went with him too since he was also my family. His father saved me when I was a child" Selene smiled sadly but with fondness.

"Glad to hear your story, My case is rather unbelievable and I do not know if I can trust you with it yet" I said, if only tha-.

"Cole and Selene are good lads. you can. I know what you were gonna say" filled my ears and I smirked at the sky, seeing the last bits of the moon beginning to disappear. "I come and go with the moon young moon" came as a whisper and I sighed.

"we understand" Cole smiled at me and I nodded slowly before I began.

"I'm not from this realm"

"what do you mean you're not from this realm?" Selene's curiosity was peaked quickly and I smiled.

"The moon witch brought me here on a mission" I explained as clearly as I could without giving off too much details.

"Moon witch?" Cole spluttered with disbelief and I smiled.

"You call the moon goddess that?" Selene laughed and I nodded.

"She is one, didn't even explain anything before sending me here" I mumbled with a glare towards the now empty sky.

"That's funny, really funny. we hold reverence for the moon goddess, you should consider not calling her that in front of many" Cole warned as he used a water jug to pour over the fire after taking out the steamed meat.

"I understand, it's between us" And Selene distributed the food amongst us with flourish.

This day was turning out to be more better than yest- A loud growl filled the air as I drank from my cup and I sighed.

"A little bit of rest please"
