Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The Mutant and the Clone

"Doctor, the test results for Subject 757 are in."

"What's the level?"

"Level 2."

"Level 2… That means even at full potential, he'll only be capable of basic mind-reading and magnetic manipulation of objects under 50 kilograms?"

"Yes, Doctor. That aligns with our current mutant research data."

"Tch. So, fusing the genes of Professor X and Magneto still couldn't produce the strongest artificial mutant. Scrap this line of experimentation. Focus our efforts on Project X-24 instead. He's our true weapon."

"What should we do with Subject 757? Dispose of him like the others?"

"No. Keep him. Train him with the other children. After all, he's still a fusion of Professor X and Magneto. Even if he's only Level 2, he might still prove useful with proper development."

"Understood, Doctor."

"No. 757! Be ruthless! Aim for my vital points! Don't hesitate, you little failure!"

On the training grounds, a muscular man brandishing a dagger launched a relentless attack at a teenage boy, about seventeen or eighteen years old.

The boy used his mutant ability to control the dagger's motion, trying to block and counter with his fists. But it was clear—he was unskilled and struggled to make the right judgments.

"We both manipulate magnetism... but compared to Magneto, my control is pitiful."

His name was Qiao Mingzhi—a time traveler. Three months ago, he had crossed time and space, reborn into this body of an artificial genetic mutant: Subject 757.

His mutant abilities were mind reading and magnetism control.

Unfortunately, his mind-reading only worked when the target completely let their guard down, and even then, it could only sense current thoughts—not deep memories.

His magnetic control was even worse. He could barely manipulate objects under ten kilograms. Not bad in a pinch, but nowhere near Magneto's level—who could lift entire stadiums and fly with ease.

Against ordinary people, he might stand a chance. But against those with strong defenses like Colossus, the Thing, or Emma Frost, his powers were virtually useless.

His only goal now was simple: escape this brutal lab.

Riiing—!

A sharp buzzer echoed. A staff member in a white lab coat entered, stopping the training. He fastened a high-tech collar around Qiao's neck.

"Subject 757, time for dinner."

"...Yes," George replied stiffly, obediently following the staff member.

The collar was a mutant inhibitor. Once worn, all abilities were disabled. Outside of training and combat, he had to wear it constantly.

Walking through the long corridor, he saw other children being led out from training rooms. Most were younger—only around twelve or thirteen years old.

"The Marvel world… what a terrifying place."

Ever since he realized he was a mutant, George understood he had landed in the Marvel Universe.

He wasn't a hardcore Marvel fan, but he had seen the movies—enough to know this world was dangerous. Countless universes, endless catastrophes. Whether it was half the universe getting snapped out of existence or entire realities collapsing—it was all "normal" here.

Still, now that he had transmigrated here, all he could do was survive.

He didn't want to die. He loved life. If possible, he wanted to live forever.

Some say immortality is a curse, that it's painful watching your loved ones die over time. But George thought the trade-off was worth it.

"Honestly, who among our Celestial Empire doesn't dream of cultivating immortality? Even after unifying the six kingdoms, Emperor Qin still sent people to find the elixir of life."

Based on a month of observation, he suspected this Marvel universe had ties to Logan (Wolverine 3).

He had seen X-23—the little wolf girl with adamantium claws and a healing factor just like Logan.

But this wasn't 2029 like in the film. It was 2009.

And from the staff's chatter, he'd heard names like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers—meaning Iron Man and Captain America existed in this world too.

Which didn't make sense.

According to Wolverine's 2009 timeline, X-23 wouldn't have been born yet. But the determined-looking girl he saw was clearly twelve or thirteen.

"So this isn't the X-Men universe, nor the MCU. It's some unfamiliar Marvel universe."

But George didn't care about the timeline. What mattered was whether the expected events still happened. If these kids escaped like in Logan, he'd get a chance to escape too.

If he remembered right, a kind nurse would help the mutant children break free soon.

So, as usual, George acted quiet, submissive, and dull. After dinner, he returned to his room, lay down, and shut his eyes.

There were surveillance cameras everywhere. He had to hide his emotions, avoid suspicion, and keep the staff's guard down.

To appear non-threatening, he even hid some of his potential during training—like how fast he could move objects or certain applications of his powers.

Of course, he couldn't appear too useless either. That might get him thrown out with the failures.

"W-what's happening?! It hurts—!"

Suddenly, pain tore through him—like his soul was being ripped apart. But just as quickly as it came, the pain faded.

Then... something strange happened.

He opened his eyes.

He was still in his room—but at the same time, he was somewhere else. He could see another place entirely: a cramped, dim cubicle.

More shockingly, he had another body—one he could control just as easily as his original.

It was like he suddenly had a fully functional clone.

George closed his eyes in his main body, shifting his focus to this new one.

Then, a rush of memories flooded his mind like a movie reel. As they ended, he whispered in disbelief:

"This... This is the Harry Potter world?!"

The memories belonged to an eleven-year-old child named Dora, an orphan raised in Knockturn Alley by a cruel dark wizard.

The wizard hadn't adopted Dora out of kindness—he needed a guinea pig for black magic experiments and illegal potion trials.

Using Muggles would've drawn Ministry attention, but using an adopted wizard child? Easy to cover up. If Dora died, it could be written off as an accident.

Dora lived in constant fear and pain, never resisting, never speaking out—his life worse than that of a house-elf.

His only hope had been Hogwarts. But although he received his letter, the dark wizard had no intention of letting him go.

Children born to Muggle families must attend Hogwarts once they turn eleven, lest their powers spiral out of control and risk them becoming Obscurials.

But wizard-born children weren't bound by the same rules. Parents could homeschool, send them to other schools like Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, or Ilvermorny, or even skip schooling altogether.

The wizard told Dora he wouldn't be going.

Utterly devastated, Dora drank a potion and attempted to take his own life.

And somehow, George's soul fragment had taken over his body—Dora's body.

"Poor kid…" George sighed after absorbing Dora's memories.

"Come here."

Still parched from the potion, George subconsciously activated his ability—and the iron cup on the table flew into his hand.

He drained it in one gulp—and froze.

"Wait… I used magnetic control—in this body?"

Yes. He had just used his mutant ability from Marvel... in the wizarding world.

"Could it be… that the abilities of both bodies are shared?"

Quickly switching his focus back to his Marvel body, he sensed something new inside himself: magic—wizard bloodline magic, to be exact.

"If this is real… this could change everything."

A thousand possibilities began spinning in George's mind.
