The complete omnitrix
Just like the original Omnitrix and the Ultimatrix, the Omnitrix mainly allows for the user to alter their DNA at will and transform into a numerous variety of alien species that are each with their own unique powers and abilities (along with their weaknesses) and in a selection of alien DNA that is in groups of 10.
Ben compares the feeling of transforming to a "good stretch".
The Omnitrix has a quick-change feature that allows for the user to transform between alien forms while already transformed with or without touching the Omnitrix symbol. It also allows the user to transform back into normal when they are done using their transformation, causing it not to time out and allowing the user to transform again far quicker.
Modes
Active Mode
Active Mode is the Omnitrix's default mode when idle. It is where the user can select the transformation they want to become; initiate the process of transforming; and stay in said transformation. The actual usage time is 30 minutes at a time. However, different factors and actions performed by the user can severely diminish the available usage time: most commonly if the user, while transformed, changes to another form. If the user slamming the core, this affects the time limit of a transformation,as the user could stay transformed for hours.
Recharge Mode
When the Omnitrix's usage time is fully depleted (i.e. "times out"), it goes into Recharge Mode: firstly warning of the timing out; then detransforming the user and locking all functions of Active Mode while the Omnitrix recharges.
Time Out
The Omnitrix is capable of detecting when it's host is in any sort of life-threatening distress. Specifically, it can instantly recharge to protect the user from a direct physical threat. This was shown when Ben was instantly turned into Feedback to contain the Big Bang
