Chapter 1 - Chapter One

I walked into court with the Titans on either side, staring at the ruler of us all, Cronus. He had long, white hair that went to his shoulder and eyes, and was wearing a robe.

"Astraeus, so nice of you to join us." Cronus snapped.

"I'm sorry." I quickly replied, bowing, as I heard mutters about how I was being disrespectful for coming late.

"Why are you late, dear Astraeus?" he asked, his voice silencing the crowd.

"My dear he was helping me," Rhea explained. Her long blonde hair flowed down to her waist and her blue eyes locked on his.

"How?" Cronus asked, his face softening when his pregnant wife walked out of the crowd.

I pulled out a tube full of herbs walking over to her. She took it, explaining that it was for her health, to which Cronus thanked me, then waved his hand, telling me to join my family. I hurried over to my family, where Dad patted my shoulder. Rhea rejoined the crowd, too.

I looked up at Dad, who smiled back at me. We all had black hair with bright crystal blue eyes that seemed to have water flowing behind them. I had his eyes, just like my brother, and while they had his black hair, I had mom's gold hair.

A man with black hair and eyes was dragged through the double doors I had just entered by two guards in armor. The guy was begging for mercy, but looking at Cronus, he wasn't about to get any bit of it.

"This man tried to poison me with something that would cause me to vomit!" Cronus stated, making everyone gasp and mutter what he had done.

"I did what was best for the future!" he screamed, his voice shaking.

"What is best for the future is me," Cronus growled.

"What should be his punishment?" Dad asked angrily, glaring at the man.

"Would you like to take care of this?" Cronus asked, to which dad agreed, walking over to the man, putting his hands around his neck, casting a spell. The spell burned a slave collar into his neck. He screamed as it burned, but once it was over, Dad turned to Cronus and bowed.

Cronus looked pleased when Dad ordered the man to bow to him. The man frowned and even tried to fight it, but the collar was absolutely. Cronus made a speech saying that peace and prosperity need sacrifices like this. We all agreed, and then he dismissed us.

As we were leaving, I saw Eos, her beautiful red-gold hair, white wings, golden aura, and flowing robes. I smiled at her, which she returned but quickly looked forward.

"She doesn't like you." Perses laughed, smacking my back with an annoying laugh.

"Astraeus, I need you to stay!" Cronus ordered before I could reach the door. I could feel my stomach sink as Mom hugged me quickly and then left.

I took a deep breath, then walked to the front as the room emptied, taking a knee and bowing my head. As the door closed behind the final person, I could hear him breathing.

"Thank you for looking out for Rhea," he said.

"Yes, sir."

"What do you want as a reward?"

"I don't need one; I'm happy to help," I replied, to which Cronus laughed.

"Your father raised you right, but I insist, so give me a moment to think." Cronus smiled, reaching for a drink. At that moment, I saw that once he drank it, he started to vomit.

"Don't drink that!" I screamed, standing up.

"Why?"

"I see you throwing up," I replied, taking a deep breath, then kneeled again, hoping that I wouldn't be punished for standing up. He stared at the drink and then looked at the maid who brought it.

She wouldn't meet his eyes, so he called her over, demanding she drink it. She hesitated but chugged it and instantly started throwing up. Cronus yelled for guards and she was dragged away while cursing at Cronus for being a monster.

"Thank you," he said once the room was quiet again.

"It's the least I can do, sir," I replied, trying to breathe normally.

"I didn't know you could see the future."

"I'm still learning how to use it."

"You may go while I think of two rewards to give you for helping us today," Cronus stated. I stood up, thanked him, and then left, but as I touched the door, I paused. I saw two more people in his kitchen staff who were putting poison into his food. At this point, I had to decide whether to take my leave and let the rebels win or tell him.

"Sir there are two more people in your kitchen staff that knew," I replied, turning around.

"If you saw them will you know them?"

"Yes sir?" I replied, to which he nodded, yelling at the butler to call the kitchen staff to line up in the hall. I walked in front of them, looking at each of their faces. I pointed out a man and woman who claimed I was lying.

Cronus stood up, to which I kneeled like the other staff except those two. He asked me to leave as he summoned his scythe. I hurried out, not wanting to see the next part. I heard a woman scream, but that was cut short.

Mom and Dad were waiting for me, walking with me to the carriage. I walked to the front, petting the plagues, then followed Mom and Dad into the carriage. They asked a million questions but praised me for using my abilities to help our country. I nodded, leaning my head against the side and closing my eyes.

Mom woke me gently when we landed at home. Our house was a marble mansion with gold doors and a large marble pillar behind our house, reaching above the clouds holding the sky. Dad walked off, saying he was going to put that guy to work. Mom grabbed my arm, pulling me into the house.

"Get some rest." Mom hugged me. Once she released me, I nodded and headed up to my room, wondering if I had done the right thing. I shook that thought off.

"You ok?" Pallas asked me as I got to my door.

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" I smiled.

"You're about to be Cronus' pet," he stated, but I couldn't let him know my worry.

"You just worry too much. I need some rest." I smiled, walking into my room, where a bluebird was waiting for me. I locked the door taking the note off its leg.

I'm sorry I took your herbs. Thank you for your help. Zeus should be here in three months.

I burned the note while sending the bird away. I went to the bathroom, where I vomited, my nerves getting the best of me. I must stick to the plan.
