A flash of lightning , an unexpected action and a girl made herself unforgettable.
Enmei had sworn to fight against the system, but not the one in the game , the system that had labeled women as weak then refused to protect them.
That's the system that she was fighting against and to her it was more important than this game.
Every monster killed meant nothing to her if women weren't going to be protected by the heroes who claimed that their purpose was to save the world.
Hudson stared at her with tears in his eyes as she laid there.
Her eyes flickered open and Hudson felt hopeful again.
" Are you ok ? What happened ? How did you become that thing ? " Hudson asked frustratedly
She could have just stayed on the ground and given up , but she struggled to her feet.
" I'm just tired of always playing the weak role just because I'm a girl. I have realized that people only love and respect those whom they fear." She didn't make eye contact with her friend , instead she looked ahead of her.
Her eyes looked sleepy and half- closed.
" Fear me ! The beauty can also be the beast." Enmei shouted at the players around her she took a red pill from her pocket and swallowed it.
Her body became larger and snapped upwards into the air.
Hudson's face bent in sadness and horror as he watched his best friend become a monster.
He wanted to curse at the world , but instead he just screamed.
The loudest , most painful scream that anyone had ever heard.
All the other players around them were completely shocked
Venus was sure Hudson's heart was broken but the game had to continue.
The game had already registered the Monster as dead , but the girl who was the monster had still managed to live.
Other monsters surrounded him on all sides and in his moment of sadness Enmei was the one who protected him.
It seemed that her beastly form didn't quite change her heart.
The scene was painted in Hudson's mind like a beautiful canvas that contained the history of a devastating war , something no one wanted to remember but still somehow no one could forget it either.
A tragedy on the battlefield that spoke to the soul of everyone watching.
The girl was a monster but not because Eros or any man made her one.
This time it was different because this girl was a monster by choice.
Enmei , player number 3. The woman who was destined to change the game.
" Get off the battlefield !" Venus shouted at Eros and Orion appeared behind her , with a blue light flowing around him.
" What happened?" He asked as he watched Hudson break down after backing away from the monsters.
" Just get him out of here." Venus said and Orion looked at Hudson with a sad look.
He knew that something went extremely wrong but he wasn't sure what that thing was.
He approached Hudson whose eyes were wide in shock. He didn't blink not even once he just let himself fall to the ground then he held his knees to his chest.
' This game is something sick and horrifying.' He thought and Orion grabbed his arm pulling him.
" Snap out of it. Whatever it is, you can get over it ." Orion said
" My best friend just turned into one of the monsters that we are supposed to kill .. I'm not going to get over it and I won't fucking leave until I make sure she's safe either ." Hudson argued, pulling his arm away from Orion.
A sinister laugh came from behind Hudson and he turned around to see Eros standing right there smirking at him.
" She was such a pretty girl. Too bad she looks like she's cosplaying you now." Eros' smirk widened, showing his fangs.
His lips were met by Hudson's fist as the human boy punched him as hard as he could.
Eros pushed Hudson off of him, then he smirked sinisterly.
" I thought you said you'd never raise your fist to fight me ? And to think I was just about to take you back as my weapon."
" Really …..Eros ….I'm sorry." Hudson's eyes widened then a softer expression found its way on his face as he stared at the ground.
" Too late now. I know you don't want to fight me. You want to be next to me fighting so badly , but what if I won't let you? What will you do with your desperation?"
Hudson realized then that Eros was just mocking him.
Hudson scowled
He felt as though the world was falling apart around him.
" I'll kill you !" Hudson shouted and he charged at Eros with all the strength he had.
They drew their swords at each other.
" You're using my own power to fight me and it still isn't going to be a fair fight." Eros said , he gritted his teeth angrily.
Hudson moved back and blasted Eros with all the power he could.
" You're pissing me off Eros."
" Really ? I'm scared." Eros mocked him
" Stop ! Fighting each other isn't the way. We all need to work together right now more than ever before. " Orion shouted at them, but Eros wasn't listening.
Eros blasted Hudson with power causing him to slam into the wall.
[ Game Analyzing players strengths and weaknesses . System updating ….. ]
A bright blue light glowed from the battlefield and all the monsters disappeared except Enmei who ran straight towards the two fighting boys.
" What the hell is going on ?" Alto asked , seeming oddly entertained as he flitted into view close enough to watch the fight.
Enmei ran towards them and Hudson was still fighting with Eros when he heard her loud footsteps right behind him.
' I don't understand she was just protecting me a moment ago' He thought and before he could move Enmei right beside him and just about to pick Eros off of the ground.
Anger filled her eyes and she charged in but before she could get close enough eros flitted away , he then turned back to blast the girl with his power.
At this moment Hudson realized that Enmei was just defending him and fighting Eros to protect him , but Eros was not holding back.
He had blasted Enmei with his power repeatedly and she just kept trying to attack him.
" Eros ! No ! " Hudson shouted at the man that kept attacking his friend.
Eros gritted his teeth and sent big blasts of power at the girl and Hudson attacked him from behind.
Enmei was now bleeding from her side and returning to her human state when Eros turned to face Hudson instead.
" So your still desperate for attention ?" Eros asked and Hudsons face bent in anger and sadness.
" Leave her alone , Eros ! " Hudson warned and Eros smirked as he headed towards Hudson.
" You wanna help your little friend ? Fine.I hope you can handle me." Eros teased and Hudson charged at him with his sword.
He stabbed Eros and Eros gave him puppy eyes which caught him by suprize.
Hudson flinched not knowing how to react.
" I'm sorry , Eros.
Are you ok ?" Hudson asked, panicking, but Eros smirked, slicing Hudson's arm as he did causing the Human boy to drop his sword.
" Did that trick really work on you again ? What a softie " Eros remarked , then as Hudson tried to nurse his wound Eros hovered over him.
" Next time you're dead." Eros said and he flew off.
Hudson ran to Enmei's side to help her and Venus flew down to make sure they were both ok.
Hudson ripped his shirt and tried to wrap Enmeis wound but she slapped his hand away.
"Don't touch me ! If you never decided to adopt a Villain none of this would have happened." She shouted at her friend and Venus intervened.
" I'll do it." Venus said taking the piece of shirt from Hudson and wrapping Enmei's wound.
" He's not a Villain and I didn't adopt him." Hudson defended himself and Eros.
Hudson sighed.
" Listen , I know he's mean and violent but I - " Hudson tried to explain but Enmei interrupted him.
" Don't tell me you think you can fix him. He's a grown man who doesn't want to be fixed." She shouted at him bitterly.
" I'm not trying to fix him. I'm trying to save the world."
" And what part of saving the world requires you to befriend the devil ?"
" He's not the devil ok. He's the key to saving us." Hudson said and there was a bit of silence between them before Enmei spoke again.
"Hudson, look at me. " Enmei said in a calmer voice and Hudson looked at her.
They made eye contact.
" He's what's destroying the world in the first place !" Enmei shouted at him , her voice loud and angry.
Hudson was sad and he didn't know what to say. He knew it was true and his bestfriend was right so why did he feel so defensive ?
" I'm sorry if I disappointed you, Meimei." Hudson said , using her old nickname he hadn't used in years.
She was suprized by it but she didn't respond, she just layed on the ground holding her side and waiting for Yukina to show up to heal her.
He walked off feeling empty and wishing Enmei would understand him , but sometimes he didn't understand it himself.
Why was he constantly defending and protecting his bully and why couldnt he stop ?
