Miki sat at her desk, fingers trembling slightly as she tried to focus on her screen. The numbers blurred into a messy soup of letters and symbols.
She kept glancing sideways, hoping no one would notice how red her cheeks had become.
But fate wasn't on her side.
Dana slid into the chair opposite her with a sly grin, resting her chin on one hand.
"So… how was last night?" Dana asked, voice dripping with teasing.
Miki froze.
She gave her best deadpan. "What are you talking about?"
Dana's eyes sparkled. "Oh, come on. Don't pretend you don't know. Everyone at the party was talking."
Miki's fingers twitched on the keyboard.
"You know what happens when Celeste Lorrain gets drunk," Dana continued, eyes dancing. "And you know how she can be… persuasive."
Miki hissed, lowering her voice. "Persuasive isn't the word I'd use."
Dana laughed softly. "You're blushing. Admit it."
Miki groaned and buried her face in her hands.
Just then, another coworker, Yuri — the ever-watchful office gossip — appeared behind Dana, smirking.
"Well, well, if it isn't the new 'power couple' in town," Yuri said, loud enough for nearby desks to catch.
Miki shot her a warning glare, but Yuri just winked.
Dana leaned forward. "So, Miki, when do you plan to make things official? Or is this just a drunken accident?"
Miki's heart pounded in her ears.
Before she could respond, a notification popped up on her computer — a message from Celeste: "Lunch? My treat. And no wine this time."
Miki smiled despite herself.
Dana's teasing didn't stop, but Miki knew one thing for sure:
Whatever this was between her and Celeste, it was only just beginning.
