The Legendary Sannin—Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya!
These three have signed summoning contracts with Boss Summons from the three most mysterious sacred lands in the Ninja World. Over the past one or two decades, they've become Konoha's pillars of strength. With the Third Hokage growing old and rarely leaving the village, these three are Konoha's biggest names!
The last time the Sannin worked together was during their breakthrough battle—the one that earned them their legendary status. Today, to face the Fourth Mizukage Yagura Karatachi, the Sannin reunite once again!
Although Tsunade can no longer contribute directly in combat, her skills in medical ninjutsu remain unmatched—undoubtedly the greatest medical ninja in the entire Shinobi World!
"Ahhhaha! I am Jiraiya the Sage from Mount Myoboku!"
Jiraiya stood before Shizune, striking what he thought was a mature and cool pose.
He held his head high, one hand pointing dramatically at the ground, the other gently stroking his face. He laughed weirdly and even shook his hair now and then, clearly trying to look cool.
What a weirdo!
That was Shizune's impression of Jiraiya. Although she had been Tsunade's apprentice for quite some time, having heard Jiraiya's name mentioned countless times, this was her very first encounter with him in person!
Shizune rolled her eyes, unsure whether to play impressed or just flat-out ignore him.
As she hesitated, Tsunade suddenly attacked.
Boom!
Tsunade punched Jiraiya on the head. A red bump rose visibly fast on his scalp, emitting visible steam.
"How can you act so irresponsibly in front of your disciples!"
After smacking Jiraiya, Tsunade retracted her fist casually, shaking her hand a few times.
"Tch, who's irresponsible is obvious to anyone with eyes!"
Jiraiya whispered under his breath while covering his head with both hands—he wouldn't dare say that out loud directly.
"Where's Orochimaru?"
Looking around, Jiraiya noticed only Tsunade and Shizune were present waiting for him. He asked immediately, turning serious.
"Oh, Orochimaru's in a meeting. Since I had free time, I came to meet you."
Tsunade waved her hand dismissively.
"Is the situation already this dire?" Jiraiya turned completely serious when dealing with actual matters, instantly sensing the gravity of the crisis.
"Let's go inside first!"
Tsunade turned around, walking toward the main camp. They were still standing at the entrance where several young ninja who earlier stopped Jiraiya stood nearby.
They had no idea they'd just stopped Jiraiya—one of the Legendary Sannin! If they knew who he was, they'd definitely brag about it later. I mean, how many people can say they actually stopped Jiraiya?
Shizune quickly followed behind, glancing sideways at Jiraiya now and then.
This guy, who seemed like some irresponsible old uncle, wasn't nearly as impressive as Saitama made him sound!
He looked more like a middle-aged man who'd lived too hard on sake and women!
Puzzled, they entered the main camp heading toward the command tent where a meeting was ongoing.
Yagura's Hidden Mist has posed a serious threat to Konoha, especially since Konoha currently lacks any ninja capable of matching Yagura's power.
Although Orochimaru alone could barely hold back Yagura, if Yagura achieves partial or full tailed beast transformation, Orochimaru alone would be insufficient.
A few days ago in a battle, Orochimaru had been beaten so severely by Yagura—who was half-transformed into a tailed beast—that he was practically scared out of his wits. Fortunately, this was Orochimaru we were talking about—he only needed two days of weakness after the fight before fully recovering and bouncing back energetically.
If even Orochimaru, known as the one with the strongest survival abilities in the Shinobi World, could be thrashed this badly by Yagura, then Yagura's strength was self-evident.
Saitama also found it strange how someone as powerful as Yagura could later be controlled by Obito, who had only just mastered his Mangekyō Sharingan.
Only the author knows the real answer to that!
Jiraiya pulled aside the tent flap and followed Tsunade straight inside, while Shizune remained outside.
Although she was Tsunade's prized disciple, she still hadn't reached the level where she could participate in meetings like this. Even if Tsunade sometimes shared secret information with her, these were two completely different situations!
"Haha! Everyone's gathered here!"
Standing at the entrance, Shizune heard Jiraiya's opening line—it felt oddly familiar to her, though she couldn't catch anything afterward.
Saitama sat on Uchiha Tianming's left side, watching Jiraiya walk in unexpectedly; his heart skipped a beat—but not from any romantic sentiment.
It was simply because Saitama always held a soft spot for Jiraiya. Back in his previous life watching anime, he deeply admired Jiraiya's sense of responsibility. After arriving in this world, hearing firsthand about Jiraiya's deeds had further deepened his admiration.
"Haha!" Jiraiya laughed again, trying to hide his awkwardness.
The moment he walked in, everyone noticed him—even Orochimaru had voluntarily stopped mid-sentence.
So, seizing the moment, Jiraiya launched into yet another one of his self-praising speeches, instantly silencing the entire room.
Those who knew Jiraiya well were naturally used to his antics. However, some shinobi present had never seen Jiraiya before, and upon meeting him up close now, they couldn't help but instinctively sweatdrop.
"Just sit down already—we're continuing!"
Orochimaru, one of the few people who understood Jiraiya best, smiled slightly at Jiraiya's embarrassment, his golden eyes barely concealing amusement as he gestured for Jiraiya to take the seat on his right-hand side.
Tsunade's seat was on Orochimaru's left.
At this moment, the Sannin were officially reunited—the Konoha dream team had officially come online!
"Now then," Orochimaru continued, scanning the room. His raspy voice echoed through the tent, treating Jiraiya's arrival as merely a minor interruption. "We will continue our earlier discussion. Now that Jiraiya's here, some plans will need adjustments."
Saitama sat upright in his chair. His seat was only separated from Jiraiya by Uchiha Tianming. His status within the Uchiha Clan had been steadily rising, and among the younger generation, his prestige had already surpassed Tianming's.
Were it not for Tianming's seniority and Saitama's natural laziness, the position currently occupied by Tianming would have long belonged to Saitama.
Of course, Tianming treated Saitama extremely well, proudly regarding him as his own pride.
He had already reached the end of his ninja path—there was no more room for growth. Seeing how Saitama was doing now gave him a true sense of the clan flourishing once more.
Therefore, Jiraiya showed full support and constant compromise toward Saitama. Just like the other day when he hoped Saitama could adapt quickly to handling affairs of the Uchiha Clan, and when Saitama simply replied "don't want to," he still nodded in agreement, continuing to work alone through the night to process those documents.
After all, Saitama's current battle record was already the best in Konoha, clearly becoming a role model for the entire village!
Among the Sannin, Jiraiya's strength could arguably be considered the strongest, and naturally, he could sense Saitama's gaze on him.
Glancing sideways at Saitama's youthful face, then eyeing the Uchiha clan crest on his shoulder, Jiraiya quickly pieced things together and realized who he was.
The currently rising star—Saitama Uchiha!
News from this battlefield would surely return to Konoha Village from time to time, and rumors about Saitama Uchiha were already spreading everywhere.
Although due to certain uncontrollable factors, Saitama's achievements had been intentionally covered up before reaching the ears of the civilians, Jiraiya was definitely an exception.
With obvious interest, Jiraiya turned his gaze back toward Saitama, leaning his body forward while resting his head on one hand.
Saitama gave Jiraiya a slight nod as a greeting, not feeling awkward at all as he continued observing Jiraiya.
Ahem! Ahem!
Orochimaru knocked on the table, signaling Jiraiya to move aside a bit.
Because of Jiraiya's posture, Orochimaru's view had become obstructed, preventing him from seeing everyone else's expressions.
Orochimaru naturally noticed the wordless exchange between Jiraiya and Saitama, wondering in his mind when these two had started communicating. Wasn't Jiraiya always traveling around and rarely home?
In recent years, he himself hadn't seen much of Jiraiya—how exactly did Saitama get to know him?
Not dwelling further on these trivial thoughts, Orochimaru refocused on emphasizing the key points regarding the upcoming battle.
...
"Hey brat!"
Right after stepping out of the tent, Saitama was about to lead Shizune to a secluded spot where no one would find them for a little fun, when a deep and mature voice rang out behind him.
Since Saitama practically exited the tent last, he immediately recognized whose voice it was.
"Ahh, Jiraiya-sama!"
Saitama turned around with a smile while beside him, Shizune also wore her usual stiff, formal smile. She hadn't fully recovered from the shock of seeing her idol fall from grace in her mind.
"Hah, what do we have here?"
Jiraiya originally just wanted to see Saitama after exiting the tent, thinking that the stories surrounding Saitama were indeed fascinating, so he called out instinctively.
Never expecting this kid was actually involved with Tsunade's disciple.
Interrupting them like this made Jiraiya feel somewhat awkward, since young people tended to get really impatient or even angry if someone disturbed them at crucial moments.
But judging by Saitama's reaction, Jiraiya felt confident everything was fine.
"Did you need something, Jiraiya-sama?"
Saitama maintained a polite attitude toward Jiraiya. Though his moment with Shizune had been interrupted, not a hint of blame showed on his face.
"Not really. I just heard some of your stories before coming to the battlefield—they seemed interesting, so I thought I'd stop by and chat casually!"
"Jiraiya wasn't shy about meeting new people and was naturally very easygoing. Even with Saitama, someone he had just met today, he acted completely relaxed, like they'd known each other for years."
"Oh really? I practically grew up on stories about Jiraiya-sama!"
Saitama gently held Shizune's soft hand as he spoke with a wistful tone.
"Hah? Seriously?" Jiraiya said happily, reaching out to ruffle Saitama's hair.
"Jiraiya!"
Orochimaru stepped forward, gesturing for Jiraiya to follow him. Since they hadn't seen each other in quite some time, naturally they had much to discuss. Plus, they needed to work out a strategy for confronting Yagura together.
"Oh, then we'll catch up later. For now, I should go."
Jiraiya gave Saitama another hearty clap on the shoulder. At six foot three, he towered over Saitama when they spoke, making the latter look up slightly.
"Alright!"
"Goodbye, Jiraiya-sama and Orochimaru!"
Saitama nodded while Shizune politely bid them farewell. Soon after, both walked away.
"He certainly is an intriguing young warrior!" Jiraiya mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"Saitama has always been quite the fascinating character," Orochimaru agreed. It was rare for both of them to share such similar opinions.
"Come on, tell me what you know about Yagura!" Jiraiya said, putting his arm around Orochimaru's shoulder as they moved aside. Few could truly understand their unique bond; perhaps this was what people called deep camaraderie.
...
Meanwhile, Saitama and Shizune shared a meal together, chatted briefly, and then parted ways.
Tsunade had been waiting for Shizune to bring back her meal. Although she no longer managed the entire camp, many wounded soldiers still required her guidance and confirmation regarding medical treatments, so she remained quite busy.
These days, Saitama rarely served as team leader for Uchiha Huo and his elder brother. With his power having grown substantially and boasting impressive battle records, Saitama could now serve as a battlefield commander, responsible for leading a segment of combat operations.
