The night drifted on with sleepy yawns and warm laughter.
Eventually, Ava and Ryan said their goodbyes — Ava blushing as she tugged on her coat while pretending not to notice Ryan's smug grin. They stepped out into the snow, still trading playful jabs, their silhouettes fading beneath a swirl of snowflakes and porchlight.
And then… it was just Eliza and Lucifer standing at the door.
The air outside was cold and quiet, snowflakes drifting lazily like feathers from the clouds. The streetlights glowed golden, casting a dreamy haze over the soft white streets.
Eliza stood bundled up, hands tucked in her pockets, ready to leave.
But Lucifer didn't move. Didn't open the door. Didn't let her go.
Instead, he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into the warmth of his chest. His voice was low, brushing against her ear.
"Don't go yet."
Eliza giggled softly. "It's late."
"I know," he murmured, nuzzling gently into her scarf. "Just… stay a little longer."
She glanced nervously toward the house. "Your mom will see us."
Lucifer smirked, still holding her tight. "It's okay. She knows."
Eliza's eyes widened. "Wait—what?!"
"She approves," he said casually, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Since when?!" she whisper-yelled, cheeks already burning.
Lucifer chuckled. "Since before I let this dumb heart fall for you."
Eliza groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Oh my God. How did she even know?!"
"Maybe," he whispered, lips brushing her ear, "you couldn't exactly hide how in love you were with me. Guess she read you like a book."
"You're impossible," she mumbled, flustered.
"I know," he grinned.
She huffed and tried to step back. "Okay, I'm really going now."
But Lucifer just tightened his hold.
"Just five more seconds," he said softly, leaning his forehead against hers.
So they stood there forehead to forehead breath mingling in the cold.
Five seconds turned into ten.Ten into twenty.
Lucifer peeked one eye open and pouted his lips poked out dramatically, expectantly.
Eliza bit back a laugh. "You look ridiculous."
He didn't move.
So with a smile, she leaned in and kissed him gently — snow falling around them like a silent blessing.
When she pulled away, her eyes sparkled.
"Merry early Christmas… boyfriend."
Lucifer's grin lit up his entire face. "Best. Present. Ever."
He finally let her go, his hands lingering in hers for a moment longer.
"I'll text you when I get home," Eliza said, stepping back.
"I'll already be missing you by then," he smirked.
As she walked away down the snowy path, she turned back once to wave.
Lucifer stood on the porch, grinning like a fool.
When he stepped inside, the warmth of the house wrapped around him. From the kitchen, his mom called out without even turning around.
"Missing her already?"
Lucifer blinked, startled. "How do you always know?"
"Poor girl," his mom said with a dramatic sigh. "Falling for my dumbest son."
Lucifer groaned. "Mom! I hate you"
She laughed. "Yeah, yeah. I love you too."
He rolled his eyes, lips twitching with a smile.
---
Days passed like falling snowflakes gentle, quiet, and soft.
And before they knew it… Christmas Day had arrived.
Everywhere, families were lighting fireplaces, unwrapping gifts, and humming carols over hot cocoa.
Lucifer and Eliza had always exchanged gifts. Every year, without fail. It was their little tradition even before anything romantic started. But this year, everything felt different.
This year, they weren't just best friends exchanging presents.
This year was special.
This year… they were together.
So instead of knocking at her door like any normal person, Lucifer decided to make it more romantically.
As the plan he bundled in his jacket and carrying a small gift box, Lucifer climbed through Eliza's bedroom window with all the grace of a very determined cat burglar. A cold breeze followed him in as he landed quietly inside, holding the box behind his back like it was top secret.
But her room was empty.
He blinked. "Seriously?"
Lucifer sat on her bed, grumbling. "I risk frostbite for this romantic entrance and she's not even here?"
Moments later, the door creaked open.
Eliza stepped inside, and when she saw him sitting there — she jumped like she'd seen a ghost.
"OH MY GOD, LUCIFER!" she gasped, clutching her chest. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
"Surprise," he grinned.
"You idiot! You could've just used the door!"
He shrugged, unbothered. "Where's the fun in that?"
Eliza eyed him, noticing the grin he was poorly hiding… and his hands behind his back.
"So?" she said, folding her arms. "Where's my Christmas gift?"
Lucifer smirked. "Guess what it is."
"I don't know," she said, grinning. "Just give it to me already!"
He brought out a small box, placed it in her hands. Inside was a snowman globe, tiny and glittering.
"Merry Christmas," he said softly.
Eliza's eyes lit up. "Aww, it's so cute."
"Do you like it?" he asked, watching her carefully.
"Of course I do. It's beautiful."
"Not prettier than you," he murmured.
Her cheeks turned pink. "You're such a flirt."
Lucifer stepped closer, eyes gleaming. "Now… where's my gift?"
She raised a brow. "Close your eyes first."
He obeyed instantly, grinning as he heard her shuffle around.
"Okay," she said finally. "Open."
In front of him, Eliza stood holding a soft, sky-blue muffler. "I made it," she said shyly.
Lucifer lit up like the tree downstairs. "You made this?"
She nodded. "It's not perfect but—"
He took it reverently, brushing his fingers across the knit. "I'm the luckiest boyfriend in the world."
Eliza looked away, blushing.
Lucifer held it back out to her. "Now put it on me yourself."
Eliza giggled, stepping closer. "You're so dramatic."
"And adorable," he added helpfully, leaning in.
She looped the muffler gently around his neck. Lucifer just stared at her the whole time — warm eyes, slow smile, like she was the only person that existed.
"Don't look at me like that," she muttered, trying to hide her blush.
"Like what?" he asked innocently, slipping his hand around her waist and pulling her closer.
Eliza rolled her eyes — but she couldn't stop smiling.
And neither could he, still holding her close.
"Let me hold you for a moment," Lucifer murmured, burying his face in the curve of her neck and shoulder.
Eliza smiled softly, her heart full. she also leaned into him. Feeling his warm touch.
