They stood there for a full minute.
Taehyung stared at the bed.
Jungkook stared at him.
"…You've gotta be kidding me," Taehyung muttered, dragging a hand through his hair.
"One bed?" he hissed. "One freaking bed?"
Jungkook blinked innocently. "You didn't know?"
"I thought this was a guest room—"
"Well," Jungkook smiled, crawling into the middle of the mattress like he'd been waiting all day, "I guess we'll have to cuddle."
Taehyung turned toward the door. "Couch. I'll sleep on the couch."
Jungkook froze.
And then—bam.
"I knew it!" he snapped, voice rising. "You think I'm disgusting, don't you?!"
Taehyung turned back fast. "What?! No—I never said that!"
"But you're acting like I have cooties or something!" Jungkook whined, puffing his cheeks out like an angry bunny. "Like I'm some dirty kid you don't wanna be around—"
Taehyung sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Kook. It's not that. It's just—"
"Just what? I'm not a girl so you're grossed out?!" he cried dramatically, grabbing the pillow and whacking Tae with it. "I'm small, not fragile!"
"Okay okay OKAY!" Taehyung yelled, waving his hands like a white flag. "I'll sleep on the bed, alright?!"
Jungkook stopped mid-pillow swing.
"…You will?"
Taehyung exhaled. "Yes. Fine. Happy now?"
Jungkook grinned, flopping back and tucking himself under the blanket like a smug little cat. "Ecstatic."
The lights were off.
School was tomorrow.
Taehyung couldn't sleep.
It was past 1:00 AM, and his body refused to relax.
He lay stiff on the edge of the bed like he was avoiding landmines.
But even with the silence…
His mind was loud.
He's so close. He's so damn soft. Why does he smell like cherry lotion and dreams—
He made the mistake of glancing over.
And that's when it happened.
Jungkook moved in his sleep.
Rolled over.
Snuggled up to Taehyung's side with the grace of a sleepy kitten, one hand pressed against his chest.
His legs tangled up with Taehyung's.
And his delicate little face buried against Taehyung's collarbone.
Taehyung stopped breathing.
His body tensed. His brain screamed.
But Jungkook just let out a quiet sigh… and smiled.
That soft, sweet, bunny-like smile from their childhood.
Taehyung's heart cracked like glass.
F**k it.
He shifted slowly, gently wrapping one arm around the smaller boy's waist.
Letting his hand rest on the curve of Jungkook's back.
The contact burned.
But it felt… safe.
Jungkook sighed again, nuzzling deeper into his chest.
Taehyung felt the warmth of his breath through the fabric of his shirt.
And for the first time in weeks… he closed his eyes.
He didn't even realize he was smiling.
Next Morning…
Taehyung woke up to a drooling bunny-boy wrapped around him like a sleepy octopus.
And worse?
He liked it.
To be continued…They stood there for a full minute.
