Chapter 3 - Sparks and Snaps

KAYLA POV

"We meet

again, little one." Every word left my eyes widening inch by inch, and

then my dad came out from the kitchen. He saw me and quickly looked away….guilt

was probably eating him up.

"I see you

guys have met each other," he said and gestured for me to walk forward….I

did, because if I didn't, the man would walk to me instead.

"Don...I mean

Romeo...this is my daughter..." He cut my dad off before he could complete

his sentence….

Rude ass...those

were the words that came to my mind.

"Kayla

Adams," the man, whose name was supposedly Romeo, said and took my hand in

his. He delivered a soft yet heart-racing kiss to the back of my hand. My eyes

widened as my heart raced at the contact; his thumb slowly grazed the spot he

kissed as he gazed deep into my eyes...like he could see my soul.

Dad cleared his

throat, and he finally let go of me. I let out a sigh, and it seemed Romeo

heard that because his brow raised teasingly before his face went stoic.

"Probably

bipolar," I didn't know I had spoken those words out loud.

"What did you

say?" he asked, his eyes dark as he took a step towards me. I shrieked and

jumped back.

My dad analyzed

the situation quickly and placed a hand on Romeo's shoulder. He flinched and

moved away from Dad quickly….his pupils flared, and his nose crinkled; he

ground his jaw as he stared at the place where Dad's hand was once.

Dad was equally as

confused as I was, but he quickly muttered an apology, not wanting to anger the

already livid man.

"Kayla...I...,"

my dad started to say, but I cut him off.

"When is the

marriage?" My dad's eyes widened at my question, probably surprised that I

was actually agreeing to this proposal. He was about to speak when Romeo spoke.

"Today."

It was finally my turn to be surprised.

"But I have

class today...," I muttered.

Romeo cut me off.

"I didn't ask." Okay, I wanted to smack this man right in the face,

but those piercing orbs of his were too scary.

"It's not a

grand wedding as you always imagined...just sign the paper," he said, and

looked annoyed, tapping his legs before he finally decided to sit.

I was about to

take a seat too when my dad grasped my arm.

"I'm

sorry...I love you," he said, begging me with his eyes. I faked a smile at

him and nodded.

"It's okay,

Dad," I said and hugged him before taking a seat far away from Romeo. He

studied me with his eyes, and I didn't like it one bit.

"Stop

staring," I mouthed, but he simply smirked and looked away.

My dad gave me

some documents and a pen. I didn't bother reading them...who bothers reading

files before signing them?

"I'll be back

by 7 pm to pick her up," he said and shook my dad's hands before turning

to me.

My dad walked up

the stairs, leaving me with him. He walked to me and bent slightly to a level

where he was eye to eye with me. His hand slowly lifted up to my face, and he

stroked my cheeks...my eyes closed as a chill sensation went through each cell

in my body.

His fingertips

left slow and light touches around my face; then his thumb grazed my bottom

lip. My eyes slowly opened, locking with his.

His mesmerizing

grey-colored orbs stared at my plain hazel-colored eyes; our faces were inches

apart, his warm breath fanning my face, leaving me breathless.

"I'll be

back," he gently whispered, his voice monotone yet sweet and erotic.

His touch slowly

left me, and I was left in a daze...what just happened?

••••

Throughout the

day, I was wandering aimlessly in my thoughts...my mind replaying the moment he

and I had...his eyes...his voice.

"Girlll,"

Anita snapped me out of my thoughts. Did I mention that ever since I told Anita

about the marriage, she had been looking for baby names? I expected her to be

jealous, seeing I was marrying her crush, but she simply stated, "At least

I get to breathe the same air as he does."

Micheal, whom I

expected to be mad about it the next day, even though he seemed fine the night

I told him...was surprisingly chill. I didn't tell him what happened between

Romeo and me; I felt ashamed. I let that happen...when he touched me...I felt

light...my head blank.

Snap out of it!

"Girlll,"

I heard Anita again, and finally focused on her.

"You've been

distracted since you came to...wait did you...," she started to ask, but I

cut her off.

"No, I and

Micheal didn't do the dirty," I answered, and she rolled her eyes.

"Who cares

about Micheal...I mean you and Mr. Hottie...Romeo...," she said, and was

cut off by a bunch of girls who screamed his surname.

"DELACRUZ!!!"

The shriek and giggles, Anita looked at me with her brows raised and the corner

of her lips lifted.

"No...we just

met," I snapped at her, not wanting to think to that extent.

"Ever heard

of a one-night stand?" she asked, and I groaned before walking away from

her...she laughed behind me, and then I bumped into someone.

"Ouch,"

I cried out, was that a wall? Slowly opening my eyes, I was met with a black

shirt. I took my gaze up and then met with grey orbs that looked familiar, a

smile...not a smirk, but a smile on the lips of the boy I bumped into.

"Sorry about

that," he said and took a step back after noticing our proximity.

"It's

okay..." I was about to speak again when Anita pulled me away, shouting a

sorry to the boy I never got his name.

"Who is

that?" I asked, looking back, but the boy was gone.

"That is

David...according to rumors, he looks a lot like Romeo Delacruz," she

said, and I finally realized why his eyes looked very familiar.

"But the

surprising part is, Romeo Delacruz is an only child," she said, and I was

very confused...That David guy looks so much like Romeo. Maybe I'm overthinking

it; there's no way.

"Kayla,"

someone called my name from behind; I slightly turned, but was soon picked up

into a tight hug...Micheal's hug.

"I miss

you," he said and buried his face in my back, his arms around me becoming

tighter...wow, he has never hugged me this way.

"Same,"

I said and laughed, a scoff was heard beside me. I looked down to see Anita

rolling her eyes.

Micheal put me

down, and then his lips connected with mine...okay, he was behaving very

weird...is something wrong? I quickly moved away from him, and then my nose

scrunched up at the unnoticeable odor...he was drunk.

"Did you

drink?" I asked to be sure, and then a sheepish smile formed on his lips.

His hand went up

as if demonstrating something big. "Just a tiny bit," he said, and I

chuckled, seeing that what he described was different from what he said.

I slowly took my

hand to his hair, standing on my tippy toes, his hand went around my waist, and

his face buried into my neck.

"Why?" I

asked as I ran my hand through his hair...I heard him sigh out in relief and

comfort.

"You're

getting married, and you'll forget me," his voice...the voice I love the

most...his drunk, thick, yet low voice.

Anita's eyes

showed a little bit of sympathy before it disappeared, and she looked away.

"I won't

forget you," I said, assuring him...my words have never been so honest.

"Promise?"

He raised his head and stuck out his pinky finger; I laughed slightly and

locked my pinky finger with his.

"Promise,"

I said, and he returned to his position, his hand around my waist, and his face

in my neck.

I won't lie when I

said I was a bit worried when I told him yesterday, and he didn't react...he

didn't act like he was affected, but I guess he needed to get loose to say his

true feelings. You know what they say...Drunken words, sober thoughts.

•••6:50 PM••

Micheal had driven

me home; I also had told him I was moving in with Mr. Rude Ass, and he left a

lot of rules. I was glad to see him at least showing a reaction, and now I had

packed my clothes, my skincare that I never use, and my favorite shoes.

"Try not to

provoke him, Darling...he's dangerous, and I want you safe," my dad

repeated for the 10th time.

You want me safe,

yet you married me to a man you claim to be dangerous...how wonderful...note

the sarcasm.

As soon as the

long hand hit 7 pm, a hoot of a car was heard; my heart dropped, knowing what

and especially who had come. I slowly stood up; the maids took my bag outside.

I walked out to see a shiny limousine parked in the huge compound...what a

show-off.

I slowly walked to

it, and the driver came out and was about to open the door when a voice rang

from inside.

"Don't open

it for her....clearly she has hands," I grit my teeth as annoyance began

sipping into me...moreover, I opened the door and entered.

My eyes locked

with familiar grey ones...

"We meet

again, little one," he said, and I muttered under my breath.

"Rude

ass," I said, and the car was put into ignition and began to move.

The drive took

roughly one hour, and my legs were aching and cramped, wanting to be

stretched....the door to the car was opened after we entered a mansion even

bigger than mine.

A gasp of shock

and admiration left my lips as the maids rushed out and took my bags into the

house.

"Walk faster

if you don't want to be locked out," he said and passed me by. I rolled my

eyes but didn't respond as I followed behind him.

I was left in an

even greater shock as we entered the living room; the walls were glassy and

shiny, lights illuminated the room beautifully...the TV, as big as the width of

the wall, was hung majestically.

This

is....Paradise, I felt like I had walked straight into one...the maid's all

wore fancy outfits, guards situated by every door, wearing matching suits and

cool glasses.

Here I was

thinking my father was rich...this man is 10 times richer...this is pure

Luxury.

He was about to

walk up the stairs when I grabbed his hand; his whole body went stiff, and he

quickly jerked away from me.

His jerking left

me stumbling back, and then I looked into his eyes, wondering what was wrong

and why he behaved that way. My eyes widened, seeing the look on his face.

Tense...his eyes

wide in fear...his jaw clenched, his brow drawn together, his pupils dilated,

and his expression terrified.

He then took a

step towards me, and as he spoke, his voice low, each word he spoke left me

with intense fear.

"Rule Number

1," he took one last step...and looked me straight in the eyes.

"Do Not Touch

Me."
