[Morning — Westhill Estates]
A rooster crowed, though no one knew where it came from. Probably summoned by Aya's beast taming at some point.
The Truck Survivors gathered in front of the estate house, yawning, stretching, and looking at the massive open fields that now belonged to them.
Daichi (hands on hips): "Alright everyone, today we start working our own land!"
Takeshi (grumbling, cigarette in mouth): "I came here to kill demons, not plant potatoes."
Ms. Sato (smiling sweetly): "Too bad. Everyone's helping."
Hiroshi (cracking knuckles): "This'll be good strength training!"
Mari (pouting): "But it's hot…"
Usapyon (ears perking up): "Do we get snacks?"
Sho (already holding a frying pan): "I'm on it."
[Task Assignments]
Clarisse the head maid had already drawn up a plan.
Clarisse (holding a clipboard):
"Team 1: Plow the west field.
Team 2: Plant vegetable seeds in the east field.
Team 3: Clear the old orchard and tend to the hot spring pond.
Backup Squad: Clean the stables and gather firewood."
Everyone groaned — except Takeshi.
Takeshi (grinning): "I call dibs on plowing."
Nobu: "We don't have a tractor."
Takeshi: "Who needs one when you've got this?"
He proudly gestured to his beloved truck.
Daichi: "You are not plowing a field with your truck."
Takeshi (already revving it up): "Too late."
[Farming: Truck Style]
And so, Takeshi floored the gas, the truck roaring to life as it tore across the field. Dirt flew, birds scattered, and everyone screamed as he left deep furrows in the earth.
Aiko (shielding her face): "You're gonna ruin it!"
Takeshi (laughing): "Efficient farming, baby!"
Clarisse (eyes twitching): "...I'll… adjust the planting plan…"
[Meanwhile — Vegetable Planting]
Team 2 knelt in the east field, carefully dropping seeds into the freshly dug rows.
Mari: "How do you know which side is up?"
Kaoru (examining a seed): "I… don't?"
Naomi (twirling): "Let's just plant them with love~"
Ms. Sato: "Please take this seriously."
Usapyon (already nibbling a carrot): "Too late."
[Orchard & Pond Cleanup]
Team 3 hacked through overgrown trees and weeds. Aya tamed a giant raccoon beast lurking by the pond, naming it 'Ponta.'
Aya (hugging Ponta): "You're ours now!"
Jun (stringing traps): "Good. It can carry stuff."
Miki (accidentally lighting a tree on fire): "Oops."
Haru (sighing as he put it out): "I knew this would happen."
[Backup Squad's Stable Duty]
The eight students cleaned the stables, only to discover a single ancient warhorse skeleton in one corner.
Ryo (paling): "What… is that?"
Minako: "A haunted horse?"
Kenta: "It's staring at me and it doesn't even have eyes!"
[Evening — Harvest Feast]
By sunset, they managed to plow, plant, clean, and nearly burn down the estate twice.
Clarisse prepared a hearty meal with what little they harvested. Sho whipped up roasted wild herbs, rabbit stew, and baked root vegetables.
Sho (smiling proudly): "Farm-to-table, guys!"
Daichi (raising his cup): "To our first day as farmers!"
Everyone: "Cheers!"
Takeshi: "Next time, I'm planting an engine workshop."
[Late Night Balcony Scene]
Takeshi and Daichi leaned against the balcony railing again, sipping wine.
Daichi: "Not bad for a bunch of city kids, huh?"
Takeshi: "Did you see that raccoon beast? Nearly stole my smokes."
Daichi: "We're slowly making this place ours."
Takeshi: "Yeah. But don't get too comfy… we still got a Demon Lord to crush someday."
They clinked glasses again under the starry sky.
