The cave's door yawned, revealing a dark mouth where Kai had disappeared. Lyra struggled backward until her back hit the cold stone wall, bringing herself close to her chest. It was an incredible sight. A haunting scream of fury and searching, unmistakable like the Silvermoon Pack, was heard as the howling thunder approached. Rhys's wolves. Hunting her.
She experienced a wave of vomiting. The stain of her public rejection was so great that Rhys wouldn't be able to rest until he realized she had already passed away. He was probably angry that she had even attempted to flee.' The most significant thing was his pride.'".
Outside, the noises intensified.'. Snarls. The crashing of bodies through forest. Branching into a sharp crack". A territorial invasion was what happened, not just a search.' Kai fought to protect his territories, his companions, and ultimately Lyra.'
A stomping, guttural voice, wholly within reach, rippled down the ground.' It was Kai's. Later, a multitude of other wolves gave an angry snarl. It was a full-blown skirmish. As Lyra grasped her wounded arm, the pain was a mere throbbing in contrast to the terror she felt in her stomach.
He's fighting them. Because of me.
She hated feeling helpless. She had a strong dislike for being the source of conflict. Her weak state, along with her entrapment and lack of usefulness, was highlighted by Rhys' words. A fiery and rebellious spark arose within her.' She was weary of being weak. Tired of being the victim.
A massive noise echoed across the cave, interrupted by a powerful sound similar to Kai's. Lyra gasped, her heart stopping. No. Not Kai. After he had saved her, a kind and accepting attitude was displayed.
She was infused with an adrenaline rush like no other, from a primal feeling. An inscrutable strong, airy presence was felt throughout the cave.' The flames appeared to be dancing in Lyra's eyes, causing her vision to become impractically clear. The sluggish, anxious heartbeat of a mouse running outside and the distant folding of bat wings could be heard by her. Her senses were suddenly brimming with life, almost excruciatingly sharp.
The throbbing pain in her arm had turned into a strange, intense heat, similar to boiling blood, as she felt it beneath her skin. Instead of being painful, it was an intense, unexplained warmth that spread rapidly.... She was captivated by the sight of the torn skin, as it began to knit together before her eyes and the blood-swollen hole slowly closed. There was a slight, silvery glow that seemed to be shimmering around the wound; it was short lived by.
What's happening?
The cave entrance was approached with a sharp bark that caused her to break out of her mind. The scent of a Silvermoon wolf, becoming more intense and showing aggression.'... They were pushing Kai, getting past him.
Fearing the most, Lyra swooped down into the cave, finding no way out. She heard the thudding sound of paws as they entered the cave's opening. She closed her eyes and prepared for the inevitable.'".
A male voice screamed with intensity, saying "Show yourself, human!" just outside the door.
Lyra recognized the voice. "Rhys has set his sights on the task at hand, as he finds him loyal to Joren, who was once a cruel and merciless wolf.".
Her hearing impaired was the sound of Joren walking into the cave, with heavy footsteps. He came to a standstill merely feet away from her. Lyra looked into the mirror, scanning through hair. Joren's wolf pack was too close to the surface, his eyes unrecognizable. Upon seeing her, he smiled with a wicked look.
He continued, sneering with relief. "You were aware that you could get away from Rhys?".
You will be modeled after him. ".
He stretched his arms, rough and painful, hand in her arm. Lyra screamed and ran away, but he couldn't stop crying. The sudden panic, the unrelenting anxiety of being hurled back to Silvermoon and their judgmental tale, was overwhelming.
Lyra heard a strange, unrecognizable growl in her throat at that point. Silver light burst forth behind her eyes, causing her vision to flare up.'". Uncontrolled, raw power surged through her. It was hot, ancient, furious. Without any prior thought, Lyra unleashed a sudden, impractical force that surged from her core as she lashed out.
Then Joren let out, yelling, shaking startled and stumbling backwards. A sickening scream hit the wall of the cave as he fell. He was sobbing. He looked at Lyra with a mixture of shock and confusion, his eyes wide open. ". He had not expected that. The sudden surge of power had caused Lyra to tremble. What was that? How had she done that?
Joren was unable to move before Lyra unleashed a furious snarl that caused damage in the cave. Kai's wolf-like appearance filled the brief space. With a loud growl, he forcefully collided with Joren and pushed him against the wall. Kai's eyes were filled with a fiery, silver hue, infused with an aura of protectiveness. He came back only to find that his Lyra was in danger.'".
Kai's voice was so low and violent that it made the cave tremble with fear. "This is my territory!" she said.
And she's mine! ".
As Joren was pinned under Kai's enormous weight, he let out a loud whimper. "Rhys isn't going to listen!" the sound of him saying.
Kai exclaimed, "Leave him here!" with his fury exposed, a terrifying experience. "He'll awaken to Shadowfen's strength!".
Additional Silvermoon wolves were close in arrival, as evidenced by growls and screeches outside. A full-fledged pack war was about to ensue. The strange energy that had been pulsating through Lyra left her shaking and with horrified fascination. She had Kai defending her with both strength and violence. All the people in Rhys's group were present at their doorstep. All of it was due to her breaking the peace of the Shadowfen.
The air was filled with the scent of blood and terror.' This was far from over,' Lyra said with a chilling certainty.et. Although Kai was a strong holdover, the Silvermoon force was excessive in numbers. Lyra's inclusion in an opposing group would cause Rhysian to lose his pride and seek retribution.
