Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Beheading Obito!

Whoosh—

In the next instant, the [Rinnegan Shadow], just before disappearing, cleanly decapitated Uchiha Obito.

However—

Swish—

Though Obito was beheaded, he didn't die. His severed head and body vanished in a blink, only to instantly regenerate.

Obito, now whole again, stared at Leo—who stood calmly with a pair of lavender Rinnegan—his gaze filled with shock and disbelief.

Without hesitation, Obito turned and fled!

"Izanagi, huh? That's a bit troublesome," Leo said with a cold smile, his tone more amused than concerned.

Despite his words, Leo showed no signs of worry. On the contrary, he looked like a cat toying with its prey.

---

"White Zetsu!"

As Obito bolted out of the Hokage Building and landed on the ground, he shouted loudly.

Instantly, the White Zetsu known as 'Afei', who had been fused with Obito's body, responded. Taking over, he activated his unique escape ability—sinking swiftly into the earth and vanishing underground.

High above on the rooftop, Leo stepped up to the railing. His Rinnegan scanned the location Obito had just left.

"Oh, Obito," he muttered coldly, like a Shinigami pronouncing a death sentence. "You're already doomed."

Izanagi was a forbidden ocular jutsu. Since each user had different conditions and durations for invincibility, it wasn't always predictable.

But for Obito…

Leo remembered: back in the original timeline, Obito once used Izanagi to escape Konan's six-hundred-billion-paper-bomb trap.

If that was any reference, then Obito's Izanagi duration must last at least three—maybe even five—minutes.

Three minutes was more than enough.

Leo had no intention of chasing. He simply waited.

By then, the backup plan he had discreetly planted would be ready.

"Obito, you'll be my fifth," Leo murmured.

---

Elsewhere—

With White Zetsu's help, Obito fled rapidly from Konoha.

Now some might wonder—why didn't he just use Kamui to escape?

Obito's answer: "Damn it, there's an enemy clone lurking inside Kamui's dimension. If I jump in recklessly, I'll get killed."

Calling on Afei was a last resort.

As for fighting Leo head-on?

Not a chance.

Kamui had nearly failed earlier when Leo's clone attacked him inside the pocket dimension.

Later, he had been cleanly decapitated by an invisible force, one he couldn't see or sense.

It had to be Leo's Rinnegan ability!

Had he not secretly activated Izanagi in time, he would be dead.

"That guy… It's like he knew everything about me."

Obito cursed mentally. "He's even more sinister than I am!"

Two minutes had passed.

"Afei, keep going!" he ordered.

They were now beyond the village walls. Still not far enough.

"Right away!" Afei replied, continuing the subterranean escape.

Only when they had fled more than ten kilometers from Konoha did Obito allow Afei to surface.

The moment they emerged, Izanagi's effect wore off.

"Ugh…"

Obito winced and grabbed his injured left arm.

"This was a huge loss," he grumbled. "Who the hell is that guy? He looks just like Madara-sama… and has real Rinnegan."

White Zetsu Afei added, "He even used Flying Thunder God... That's not something Madara-sama ever had."

"I don't know," Obito replied grimly, removing his brown mask to reveal his scarred right face.

Only his right eye—Kamui's Sharingan—remained functional. The left eye had gone blind after using Izanagi.

Click—

Obito gouged out his now-useless left Sharingan.

From his cloak, he pulled out a small vial containing another Three Tomoe Sharingan preserved in liquid.

He was about to transplant it—

Shing—

Suddenly, a red flash streaked through the air. A figure in crimson armor appeared without warning.

"Obito."

It was Leo.

Obito stared in horror. "Flying Thunder God? No way!!"

His heart dropped. Something was terribly wrong.

Panic surged. Obito tried to activate Kamui and phase out.

But—

Slash—!

He didn't even have time to move.

In a flash, the invisible entity struck again—cleanly beheading Uchiha Obito for a second time.

It was: Limbo: Border Jail—the Rinnegan's ultimate ability.

A gruesome arc of blood painted the air as Obito's head fell to the earth.

Thud—

The invisible shadow reached into Obito's right socket and extracted his Kamui Sharingan.

Then, it handed the precious eye to Leo.

Leo, still calm, received the Kamui Sharingan and stored it directly in his system's internal space.

---

On the side, White Zetsu Afei tried to flee in terror.

But Leo's Limbo Shadow intercepted him.

Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!

Fwoosh—!!

Zetsu was incinerated on the spot.

Then, a system prompt appeared in Leo's mind, visible only to him:

> [Congratulations, you have killed 'Uchiha Obito.' High Achievement unlocked. Reward: High Achievement Lottery ×1]

[Congratulations, you have killed 'Afei (White Zetsu).' Medium Achievement unlocked. Reward: Medium Achievement Lottery ×1]

[Current Draw Counts — Primary: 3, Medium: 3, High: 1]

Leo merely glanced at the notifications, uninterested for now.

He turned his eyes toward Obito's remains.

"You know…"

"My clone in Kamui failed to kill you, but it did leave a mark."

Leo's eyes narrowed.

"The Flying Thunder God's seal."

That was how he'd tracked Obito—by planting a mark during the clone's sneak attack.

Leo had calculated everything: from the duration of Izanagi to the mark placement, the Shadow attack, and the final retrieval.

"Obito… you were always destined to be the fifth."

With that, Leo burned the corpse with a Fire Style jutsu—standard cremation, to avoid polluting the wild with residual chakra.

Then, he retrieved his Limbo Shadow and vanished using the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Only flickering flames remained, licking the dark forest floor.

---

But moments later—

Rustle—

The ground trembled slightly.

From the depths below, the true form of White Zetsu, accompanied by Black Zetsu, emerged.

"Madara-sama's Rinnegan… even his chakra signature, and now Flying Thunder God?" White Zetsu murmured, stunned.

"Who the hell is that man?"

Black Zetsu clenched his fists. "I don't know. But this man… he's sabotaging the Eye of the Moon Plan."

"With Obito dead, can we still proceed?" White Zetsu asked hesitantly.

"There's still Nagato," Black Zetsu growled. "We move forward."

---

Back in Konoha…

Leo returned via Flying Thunder God, teleporting directly onto the rooftop of the Hokage building.

At the same time, Tsunade had just finished her lunch and was heading back to her office.

Since Leo's rampage days ago, Tsunade had been swamped—rebuilding budgets, street repairs, resource allocation. It was endless.

She constantly cursed Leo in her heart.

"Hashirama's granddaughter!"

Tsunade flinched, hearing the voice she least wanted to hear.

Looking up, she spotted Leo standing atop the railing, his eyes back to normal black.

'Why didn't he just fall and die…?'

Tsunade grumbled inwardly.

"What now, you damn bastard?!"

Leo ignored the insult. "Come up."

"What do you want now?" she scowled.

"I won't ask again," Leo warned coolly, his tone laced with threat.

"You—ugh!" Tsunade glared angrily. "Fine! You damn bastard!"

She jumped lightly to the rooftop, as two ANBU at the gate silently watched their Hokage obey the man above without resistance.

Once up, Tsunade pointed a finger in Leo's face and scolded, "Do you know how much more work I've had since your little 'incident'? I barely sleep!"

"So noisy," Leo muttered.

"You—ugh!!" Tsunade wanted to bite him in rage.

Leo ignored her complaints and pulled something from his system space.

Shing—

A blood-soaked Mangekyō Sharingan materialized in his hand.

Tsunade's eyes widened.

"This is…"

She'd always wondered how Leo summoned things from thin air, but seeing him pull out a Mangekyō Sharingan floored her.

"With your medical skills, is there a way to integrate Kamui's power into my own eyes?" Leo asked directly.

That was his real purpose—he wanted to fuse Kamui into his own ocular jutsu.

He had considered using the system.

But it demanded three medium-level draws!

Ridiculous!

Creating a special pet space for Kurama had cost the same. Yet fusing a dojutsu was more expensive?

Damn system.

So, Leo had come to Tsunade—hoping her medical expertise could save him the cost.

However—

"You think I'm a god? No matter how skilled I am, I can't do that," she replied flatly.

"And where did you even get that Mangekyō Sharingan? From Itachi? Sasuke? Who else is left from the Uchiha?!"

But Leo wasn't listening.

All he registered was: "She can't do it."

Zing—

He activated his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

"H-Hey! What now?!" Tsunade took a cautious step back.

"I need to confirm it myself," Leo said coldly, his eyes glowing ominously.

"You bastard!"

Despite her protest, Tsunade was hypnotized by Leo's ocular power.

But even after forcing a deep scan—

Result: Fusion still impossible without system assistance.

"Tch… looks like I'll have to use those three damn medium draws," Leo muttered in frustration.

BAM—!!

Tsunade suddenly threw a punch at him.

Leo caught it effortlessly.

"There was a mosquito," Tsunade said with a sugary smile.

Leo simply stared at her.

His eyes, cold and unwavering.
