Abbigail emerged in a large hall before a wall. In front of her, way down the room, is an open door. Between them is a checkerboard of black and white tiles, spread irregularly before her. She found an inscription and read it from her slip
To pass this door,
Don't step on the black tiles on the floor.
"Umm…" Abbigail stared at the words. Is this the Ender Trial? Did she come to the right place? The first task is… basically hopscotch? She stepped on the first patch of white tiles. The next patch is a meter, one entire tile, away. She readied herself and jumped, landing right in the middle of the tile. The next one is two tiles away, so she went back, started with a small run, and landed right in the middle. However, she saw no more tiles in front of her. Looking left, she saw that there were two whites diagonal from her, with a black tile in between. She swung her hands back and forth, and with one huge leap, jumped across. She hopped between the white islands and with a few near misses, arrived at the door and entered the next room.
It had nothing except a sentence on the wall and a patch of that portal membrane to her left
Down your armor, ready your blade.
A horde of zombies you vill face.
Abbigail had not taken off her obsidian armor when she entered. She drew the Endersword, now black in her hands, and went through.
An hour later, she emerged in the next room. Panting, she collapsed on the floor. She took off her helmet and laid it on the ground. Never, not even in her worst nightmares, could she imagine the sheer amount of green hands gnawing at her. Nor could she imagine such a horrifying chorus of growls and yowls. After another hour, she finally calmed down and stood up. There was another short verse on the wall, and an Ender chest below it. If she remembered correctly, this is where she would take a bath.
"I guess there really never were female Enderknights before me." She thought. "Everything in these ancient chambers seems to be designed for the standards of big, strong men." She approached the inscription on the opposte wall.
Disrobe, and place them in the chest.
Through deep waters you must press.
"Hold on, I need to do what?" She was no stranger to swimming. When she was back at the farm, she and Darlene would sometimes go swimming in a nearby river, when Mr. Finch gave her leave. However, they always kept their undergarments in place, even if they came back soaking wet.
"Stupid Ender Trials." She complained as she took off her armor, then her clothes, and placed them into the Ender chest. Stark naked, she stepped through the portal membrane and instantly wished she had taken a breath and done some warm-ups before hand.
There was no platform on the other side, nor was there any kind of solid ground. Abbigail dropped straight into an icy cold pool of water.
"What the!" She kicked the water and lifted her head above the gentle waves. At the far end was another portal, and on the walls were two lines, both vertical. Gingerly, Abbigail put a finger across and instantly knew that there was close to a tsunami of motion on the other side.
"Ok, let's just do this. I can't stand being like this in the water." Swing her wet hair out of her face, she reached forward and dove into the storm.
The waves pushed her around. Sometimes forwards, sometimes backwards, sometimes to the left or right, and other times just spinning her in circles. She kept her eyes on the prize and pushed forward.
"Ow!" A huge wave slapped her against the wall, bruising her shoulder. The pain almost made her give up. With one hand, she struggled towards the exit and after a while, perhaps she received some healing from the room, she could use her arm again.
Finally, she crossed the second pair of lines and the water became calm again. Not wanting to waste another minute, she dove into the portal and emerged completely dry in another small room. It had another Ender chest and another verse.
Congratulations you have passed.
The Strenth trials but it is not the last.
Go on, mi king, to the hall
Rest, prepare, for a riddle brawl.
Abbigail grabbed her garments from the chest and put them back on swiftly. She went through the small portal and emerged back in the first hall, housing the portals to all three trials.
