Chapter 25 - Chapter 24

I watched as Colt and Aaron got to know each other as they filleted the fish. "Well, now you don't have to worry bout Aaron trying to kill your fiancé." I laughed at grandpa's comment. "Yeah. I just hope that none of my exes do." "Nah. Three are married and one is engaged to a girl going to college here." "That's good to hear." I finally said.

"Well, I better get the Hush Puppies and calf fries going." He said before going in. I picked up two glasses and walked out to the two men. "Here's some tea," I said as I set the cups down. "Baby, can I have a drink? I have fish all over my hands." I rolled my eyes before holding his drink while he drank.

"So, Aaron, I hear that you have a girlfriend?" Colt continues. "Don't say anything in front of her," Aaron whispered. "Then I want to meet her." "You already have. It's Genevieve." "Oh, then you should be happy," I told him as I put a straw in his drink.

I went inside and went into the kitchen. Matt was helping his dad and grandpa cook. I ruffled his hair before carrying the fryer out. I set it down and plugged it in. I put the vegetable oil in and went back in for the hushpuppies. Matt came out of the kitchen with them. He followed me back out to the front porch.

He set the bowl on the railing, making sure it didn't fall. Then he put some in. "Glad Aaron found himself someone," Matt said, plopping down on the porch swing. "Yeah, when did he meet her?" "Last month at church." He said as I leaned against the post.

"So, where are you planning on getting married?" "The first full week in December." "Ah, Las Vegas. Think both fams are going to go?" "Bud, if you can get this side to go, I'll see if Colt can convince his side to go." "Deal." And we shook on it. "And the bridal party?"

"I was thinking the OSU vs. Texas game." "Sweet and you know if the bachelor has alcohol...." "You're coming with your mom." "Sweet." "I know, right?" I pulled the batch out and put them in a ready bowl. Matt put more in just before the guys came up.

I opened the door, letting them in. They then came back with the batter for the fish to be fried in. While one was battered, the other watched them. A white Dodge truck pulled in. "That should be Gen now," Aaron said. "I'll let her in," Matt said as he jumped off the porch onto a four-wheeler.

"Baby, could you please get my drink off the tailgate?" Colt asked. "So demanding," I said sarcastically. "Love you." "Love you too." I picked up his cup and took it back to the porch. "Thank you, Cupcake."

Matt got back just in time to see me kiss Colt. "Eww, get a room." "Don't worry, bud, you'll enjoy it one day," Colt said. A girl with dark hair got out of the truck. Aaron went out to greet her. Colt wrapped his left arm around me and kissed my cheek while he took the fish out.

I put more in the fryer before Aaron came up with the girl. "Hey Genevieve, how are you?" Matt asked. "All up when the world is down. Meaning I'm doing good." She said as she walked onto the porch. "Gen, you remember Hedli, right?" "Yeah, back then I had blonde hair." "Oh, that's why I didn't recognize you," I said as I hugged her.

"And who's this man behind you?" "This is my fiancé, Colt." "Nice to meet you." She said as they shook hands. "You too." I nudged Colt to take the fish out. He did, and Matt put the last of it in. "That fish done yet?" "Yes, sir, the last batch was just thrown in," I told grandpa. He came out and got the Hush Puppies.

I carried the batter following him. Matt followed me with the drinks. After the rest of the fish was done, Colt came in, followed by Aaron and Genevieve. "Did you turn it off?" "Yes, I did so the porch wouldn't burn down." I kissed him.

"Heh, more than one young couple in the house makes me feel old," Grandpa said. "But you're still young, grandpa." Aaron and I said at the same time. "Glad to hear that my grandchildren think so." "Well then all the food's done so let's eat." Grandma said breaking the silence.

I sat on the porch swing next to Colt. He kissed my forehead then temple. "So what is the plan for the bridal parties?" He asked. "Well I'm taking the girls to the stadium for a football game." "And that means I have to plan mine out. Which game?" "The OSU vs. Texas game." "Then I'll have mine at my house, might wanna take Matt with you." "Then I plan on it." We both laughed.

Then Colt started tickling me. "N-n-no s-st-o-p. Hahaha." He continued. "C-Colt s-stop." "Not until you give up." He whispered huskily in my ear. I almost melted. "Ok I-I sur-render. Hahaha." His arms tightened securely around my waist before he kissed my cheek.

Genevieve walked out holding hands with Aaron. We watched until she drove off. He came back up looking like a love sick puppy. He went back in leaving me and Colt alone.

I kissed Colt's cheek before he pulled me closer. I slipped my hand under his shirt and traced his abdominal muscles. They tightened under my hand as it went across them. He rested his head on mine and sighed contently.

"How even did we even get to know each other?" He asked. "I was the only woman to be able to handle your horse." He chuckled. "Not exactly." "Then what did you mean?" "I mean how did a rough guy like me end up with a woman like you? Your soft, smart and not afraid to try stuff. You always try to think through the problem instead of avoiding it or going around it." "Because you had a soft spot for girls and women that challenged you or made it a challenge for you."

He kissed my head as we watched the weanlings run and play as the sun was setting. He yawned and got up. I followed him inside. While he went upstairs to shower I went into the library. I dug through my documents and found the document I needed. "Aaron." I yelled.

Seconds later he came in. "Yeah." He said as leaned against the door. "You know how you've wanted your own ranch?" "Yeah and I can't find one in this county." I handed him the document. "Wait your giving me the ranch?" I nodded. "But..." "But nothing when I go to live with my new husband I can't be coming up every weekend to do paperwork and it can't be sent to me down there."

The smile on his face showed it all. "And while the rodeo is in town you'll be able to stay here in return for this." "Thank you!" "Now all we have to do is get the ownership signed over to me."

"Well I'm going to get a shower and get in bed if you don't mind." I said in a fake British accent. We both laughed before I disappeared up the stairs. I got my undergarments and the shirt I found in my trailer. After knocking on the bathroom door he came out letting me in.

I got my shower and got into the clothes. Once back in my room I crashed on the bed. His arm gripped my waist and pulled me towards him. "After Pasadena we'll have the house all to ourselves. Mom and dad are going to move in with Bucky, he has a house at the edge of the property and Zach is going to college." "That means that we'll be alone." "Don't worry your big strong Cowboy will protect you."
