Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Blue eyes

The sun attempted to lay assault upon a young man as he sat beneath a grand willow tree, rehydrating himself from a morning filled with grueling work while also enjoying the natural protection of the said tree. His matted brown hair ran untamed down his face, only allowing his beryl blue eyes to gaze upon the golden field of wheat before him; "Maybe it isn't so bad------if this is the result." he thought to himself, this was all Blue has ever known, the fields, for as long as he could remember, he dined in the house of strangers. As the days faded into months, which faded into years, the people never became familiar to him, perhaps, because they didn't want to.

"Hey!!! No slacking off boy" exclaimed Blue's 'caretaker', Clive was a dreadful bastard, he owned the farm blue both works and lives on, he also happens to be the person who was entrusted by Blue's parents to look after the boy. Anyone who took a gander over the boy's body, his suntanned skin was lined with scars, bandages and sun burn could tell that Blue was far from taken care of. "As you wish uncle." Blue said, his words calm, but his eyes piercing through to the stubby man's soul. Without protest, Blue returned to harvesting the wheat, he often wonders if this is all he was made for but just as quickly, he silences the thoughts and focuses on his task at hand.

The blazing day light phased into the freezing night as Blue exited the field and walked past the main farmhouse, where Clive and his family reside, memories flooded his mind, it wasn't too long ago where he himself lived in there, it was about seven years ago, when Blue was nine that he was forced to move into the barn because Clive's wife wanted an extra room for her shoe collection. Although he bore no hatred for the family, Blue definitely didn't accept their treatment with gratitude, he knew one day he'd be off of this farm, he dreamed of fighting chaos beasts in the middle of the vive seas, dancing in the grandest balls that the land could possibly host, he imagined himself sitting a dinner table with persons who cared about him.

"ROAR!!" Blue was ripped away from his dreams by the sound of raging beast, mixed with screams coming from farmhouse. There was no hesitance, he ran out of the barn and straight towards the commotion, Clive and the rest Corget family, stood on the porch paralyzed, Blue wished he could laugh at them, he wanted to, he couldn't help but have the same reaction when he saw the beast that was rampaging through the wheat fields, causing craters in the floor and destroying crops with each movement, energy spilling from cracks in its tar black skin.

He'd heard of them before from passersby who had business at the farm, chaos beasts, creatures whose soul was overpowered by chaos energy; however it was a lot more real now that it stood right Infront of him, it seemed to be a deer before it became soulless, corrupted by chaos energy.

He couldn't help but think about how his life was pointless as it rushed towards him, fifteen feet, three tons of pure malice seeing nothing but the next thing it's going to destroy.

Blue began to focus his mind, I have to use, I have to do that, he could feel his soul fluctuating as he brough in the chaos energy, it filled him with raw untapped energy, it began to spill from his eyes, as the energy passed through his soul, he had to redirect it out, his goal was to blast the deer away with his soul energy. When his power reached its climax, he raised his palm and attempted to release the energy, a small blue flame flickered, then it stopped, dread filled his body, he knew it was over. The deer was a mere inch away from his face when heard the sound of energy warping around him, almost bending.

Suddenly, he was back at the barn, along the rest of the Corget family, a strange figure adorned in a royal blue coat that opened up at the front, as well as a soft white shirt and a long golden spear attached to his back, stood beside them, staring intently at the farmhouse as his companion used soul energy to create huge rock pillars that trapped the chaos beast in a restrictive cage, his soul manipulation was effortless and he attempted to drive a spiked pillar through the beast's head however, the man in the blue robe instantly disappeared from Blue's sight and reappeared in the path of the pillar, crushing it to pebbles with a touch of his finger.

Curiosity flooded Blue's mind, he itched closer towards the farmhouse, the beast was still conscious, but Blue felt no danger with those two around; the robed man placed his palm upon the subdued beast's head and in an instant, it crumbled to ashes that resembled its previously black skin. As the ash floated upwards towards the heavens, the robed man's gaze did not leave the sky..

Blue moved closer to the men, to analyze them further, however, he was pushed aside by Clive, seeking his own interest "May your souls burn bright! Thank you!" Clive rattled out thanks with no intent of stopping, the man in the blue robe put his left hand forward, signaling Clive to stop. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that these men were from the west, the man in the blue robe was seemingly in his mid-thirties, while his companion had to be no older than Blue himself; they were both dressed in the most detailed of fabrics, however, the younger one's clothes seemed to be a lot more minimalistic.

"How can we ever repay you for rescuing us from this beast? Lodging? Food? We have the best wheat in all three of the great kingdoms." Clive asked, hoping they'd say that they needed no payment; the robed man glanced past the shrub like man and spoke

"No need for all of that, I will take the boy." The robed mans voice echoed

Clive stuttered "Unfortunately, I can't give him to you. he's far too valuable----to our family"

"To your family or to your farm?" The younger man quipped

With one hand in the air, the robed figure declared "Slavery is illegal, especially that of a child, so unless you wish to be sent to Purgatory for the rest of your life. He's coming with me"

The short man clenched his fist "Maybe it's illegal in ( ) , if i wanted him to be my slave, he would be!" Clive turned around and looked at Blue, a look that Blue had never seen before, it was almost---fatherly. "Fine, he's not worth the trouble, take him." Clive said as he made his way back to the farmhouse.

The two strangers approached Blue, "You're with us now, I am Nurien of the sky, and this is my apprentice Trev." The robe man stated, while Trev bowed his head slightly; Blue paused----------- "Its common curtesy to state your name when someone introduces themself" the young man in the brown cloak said, his voice slightly condescending.

"I am Blue...of the farm" the boy said, his words mocking, Trev's annoyance was obvious, but it was contrasted by the wide grin on his master's face. "Anything you need to get before we leave, Blue?" Blues eyes couldn't help but taking in the farm for one last time, he tried to reminisce on the good memories he had of the place, nothing came to mind.

"Let's go." The boys voice laced with more conviction than he'd had in his entire life.

As the group left the confines of the farm, no one looked back, Blue could see the connection that Trev and Nurien had, it was foreign to him, almost unsettling. The master noticed a shift in the boy's energy, he dawned a smile that Blue began to realize was common with him, "Don't worry kid, as long as you're with us, you're soul will never want for anything, as of today, you're free."
