Chapter 8: Letting the Wolf In
"What on earth happened last night?"
Kiana's chin opened and closed mechanically, like a machine controlled by a program, without any sense of agility.
The breakfast in her mouth tasted like chewing wax and brought no satisfaction.
Her eyes were dull, without a trace of light, only the daze of being struck by reality.
She couldn't figure it out. Absolutely couldn't figure it out.
Everything was fine yesterday. Mei was lying in the same bed with her in the morning, but in the blink of an eye, this uninvited bastard had taken advantage of her.
From staying one night to staying indefinitely, from staying indefinitely to joining this family.

This is intolerable!
She must take back her own Raiden Mei.
"You guy, what the hell did you do to Mei?!" Kiana's expression turned ferocious. The stainless steel knife and fork in her hands were twisted by the unintentional burst of force.

Kiana was filled with regret. She should've beaten this guy up right at school and made him a VIP customer at Nagazora City Hospital.
If she had reacted faster, this incident—one that made her loved ones sad and her enemies happy—wouldn't have happened.

"Kiana, this matter isn't what you think." Raiden Mei spoke with a calm expression.
It seemed that, in her eyes, letting a wolf into the house wasn't a big deal at all.

"Mei..." Kiana opened her mouth.

There was no choice but for Kiana to sit down and eat.
Raiden Mei was the host here, and her opinion as a guest couldn't influence Mei's decision.

Seeing that Kiana had calmed down, Subin, who had chosen not to escalate the conflict, spoke up: "Mei, do you want me to prepare lunch boxes for you?"
"Thank you, but I want to do it myself."

Kiana breathed a sigh of relief.
Based on what she'd seen and heard at Chiba Academy, if there was intimate contact between a man and a woman, it would be visible no matter how much they tried to hide it.
After all, once the two had reached a state of great harmony in life, certain unnecessary distances would be subconsciously erased.
But now, Raiden Mei and Subin seemed far from reaching that point.
As long as she could beat this stinky yellow-haired guy, she could save Mei from the abyss.
Kiana Kaslana firmly believed that.
After breakfast, the two girls joined the crowd heading to Chiba Academy along with the other ordinary JKs as usual.
On the way, Kiana, who had been daydreaming all the while, finally couldn't resist the impulse in her heart and asked Raiden Mei:
"Mei, what happened between you two? Why did you agree to that guy's excessive request?"
To invite a wolf into the house isn't even enough to describe it. It was like peeling your own skin and handing yourself over to a tiger.

If Kiana hadn't noticed that Mei didn't carry any strange scent, she would've thought she'd walked onto a film set and become the tragic heroine, powerless to stop her Mei from being defiled step by step by that yellow-haired bastard.
"Kiana, I don't know how to explain this to you." Raiden Mei looked embarrassed. "If you knew, it wouldn't benefit anyone."
It was Subin's request that she not tell Kiana what had happened last night.
Raiden Mei didn't want to keep secrets from Kiana, but considering how brainless she was sometimes, she realized she couldn't entrust her with any secrets at all.
If Kiana knew the truth, nothing good would come of it.
Between two evils, choose the lesser one.
Raiden Mei would rather let Kiana misunderstand and think she'd suffered some tragic treatment than let the truth of last night be revealed.
"Why? Is there something I can't know?" The white-haired dumpling remained as sincere and straightforward as ever.
She had always been this way—until the pain hit home.
"When everything is over, he and I will tell you the truth." Raiden Mei promised. "For now, let's just do our part."
"Okay..." Kiana responded unenthusiastically.
As Chiba Academy came into view, their conversation gradually faded.
The students around them, dressed in the same uniforms, silently distanced themselves from the two, though they lived in the same world, they were clearly divided from it.
Raiden Mei and Kiana parted in the corridor; after all, they weren't in the same grade.
The girl, deep in thought, grew quiet and walked silently into the classroom, heading toward her seat by the window in the second-to-last row.
Sure enough, her desk was already covered with crude drawings and words filled with malice.
"Embezzler's daughter"
"Go to hell, bitch!"
"Dirty slut"
"..."
Such foul language was unbearable.
Compared with these people who bullied her without hesitation, even Subin, who was only after her body, was much more pleasing to the eye.
