At the same time…
D'lean who had just finished fighting the monster, and had already wrapped his wound began finding his way downstairs.
All he could see were dead bodies of students. Blood staining the ground and walls. Bodies without hands or legs. Some without any, they had all been torn out. The sign was truly unforgivable. Which was how D'lean felt.
"What kind of massacre is this. What created such calamity to destroy lives like this."
D'lean didn't have the slightest clue of what brought about creatures such as this. Their existence was unknown to mankind. One moment everything was peaceful and calm. And under less than an hour, things had turned into a disaster. Life was thrown away like it was worthless.
"I wouldn't forgive them. I wouldn't forgive them."
While still walking in the hallway, he noticed something. He hadn't seen anyone alive. Although there were dead bodies on the ground with blood everywhere. But not a single soul was alive. No running. No screaming. The place was deserted.
"What is going on? Where is everyone."
D'lean was very curious as he walked past some classrooms to the stairs. There was no one. It was almost like he was the only one in the school building. With no sound whatsoever. Even though it had just been less than thirty minutes since Uvenna and Phillip left him. It was still so quiet.
"Have they already evaluated the rest of the students?"
"Impossible. Even though they were able to do it, they wouldn't take everyone under less than thirty minutes. More importantly, where are the monsters. I don't see any around."
Quickly, he ran down the stairs past two floors before getting to the ground floor. On his way outside. There he saw it. What he never imagined. What was never supposed to be. What he didn't plan.
A horde of monsters. Just standing. Their gaze fixed in a certain direction. The number of the monsters was about seventy percent of the school population. Meaning, almost all the students were turned into monsters. Truly unlucky.
"What are they…"
D'lean wondered what they were all looking at. With the blood and dead bodies of the ground, he tried to make his way to a certain area where he wouldn't be noticed, and be able to see what they were staring at.
He walked on the edge of the school building. With the monsters a couple of meters away from him, he began making his way to the fields. However, just as he was about to cross to the other side. It happened. Strange lights began glowing, as it caught his attention.
"W-What is that?"
This was the same time when Uvenna and the other awakened different forms and abilities. Their new form was unheard of to D'lean.
"What…?"
He was speechless. He couldn't take his eyes off the appearance of his fellow students. Their various appearance and looks, struck a large impact. It was a magnificent sight. On that could only be seen in comic books.
Were they heroes? gods perhaps. The thought crossed his mind. But soon something was to happen. Something beyond what they had ever witnessed this day.
"It can't be."
D'lean who at the time was holding his wounded hand, stepped on a breek as it made a slight sound. It was not that loud to be heard from a distance. However, luck wasn't on his side, as a monster caught a glimpse of him.
"KAAACK!"
Hearing this sound, D'lean looked up and saw a monster looking at him. The monster locked eyes with him as if telling him. I see you. However, D'lean had a very fierce expression. The way he looked at the monster was with hatred and rage. But there was no moving.
'This is not good.'
Mumbling to himself, he knew what was about to come before him, and he wasn't at all prepared for it. He needed to make his way to the others, and fast. However, with the gaze of the monster on him, he wasn't able to make that move.
It was as though if he took a step, that would prompt the monster to make its own move. Although, as for now they were both staring at each other, as they waited for who would move first.
..
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Uvenna locked eyes with Phillip, a smile played on her face. And also on his. They both looked at themselves, then at the others; who were still grasping what was going on with their appearances. Then the silence broke.
"Everyone!"
Phillip exclaimed.
"As you can see, our cries have been heard. The heavens answered our cries."
He looked at the gauntlets with gem-like stones in his head.
"…although I don't know what this is. But what I would say is that we can use this to fight our way out of here."
The Uvenna added:
"We can defeat this monster!!"
Hearing this, the expression on the students changed. Those who had awakened, were beginning to feel confident about what they had been blessed with. And stood on the side of those who were going to fight. However, those who didn't get anything, were frightened and also shocked as to why they didn't receive anything.
"I am in."
"I am with you."
"I will fight too."
The confident voices came to rise, as they stepped forward to where Uvenna and Phillip stood. And before they knew it, all those who had obtained some kind of power were at the front line facing the monsters.
The ties had already turned. From grass to grace. They were ready, and even excited to fight what they wouldn't in their entire lives had guessed they would do.
..
As this event was unfolding, D'lean and the same monster were still… eyes locked. It was as though they were having a; who would blink the first challenge. However, D'lean was running out of patience. There was no time to be playing who blinks first with some monster.
It was not too big. Not too small. About the size of a goblin. Whoever that monster was when it was still human. The person must have been really small. Probably a first year.
"Tsk!"
All this information didn't matter to D'lean. But at this point, that was all he could think of as he stared and waited for the right moment. For the right time to make his move. And with a second to waste, he was blessed with one.
"CHARGE!!!!"
The voice of students instantly drew his attention, and in an instant he turned to see what was going on.
Before him, were amateur students. Not up to 18 years of age. Who had just awakened hidden abilities and were now charging towards a horde of monsters like they knew what they were doing. Charging to monsters who only had one intent.
To kill.
"W-What are they doing? They are completely outnumbered!"
As D'lean yelled this, a chill ran through his spine. It was a sting from the wound on his hand, but it didn't feel painful, but rather like a call. A sense.
Instantly, the thought of the monster he had looked away from. In a flash, he turned in the direction, and it was gone.
"Sh!t"
The monster had disappeared.
"Where did it go?"
"Where did it go?"
D'lean began looking around for where it might have gone. Even though the rest of the monsters had already made their way to attack the students charging towards them, this one couldn't leave his mind. Something just told him that, the monster didn't go after the students.
"It is here. I know it."
Moving around with his hand on his injury, D'lean tried looking for the monster. However, it was nowhere to be found. Not in the midst of the horde of running monsters, even though he couldn't be able to actually tell. But the feeling didn't leave it.
Suddenly, a shadow hovered above him. And in a little time to react, he looked at and saw the monster landing on his face with a weapon in its hand.
However, swiftly. D'lean was able to dodge it by rolling on the ground.
SLAM!!!
The impact of the weapon of the monster hitting the ground, was so strong that it shattered a breek in its landing spot. A second late and that would have been D'lean's head.
"KAAACK!!"
The monster didn't give up, as it leaped to attack D'lean again. And at the same time, the students and the horde of the monsters were about to clash, when suddenly a massive earthquake occurred.
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
The ground began shaking, hard, as though something had hit the earth creating the cause. This wasn't any ordinary earthquake. Both the students and the horde of monsters all lost their balance and fell to the ground.
Even the monster that was about to attack D'lean, fell to the ground, while it leaped to the air. It wasn't just the ground feeling the quake but also the air.
"Huh?"
D'lean eyes widened, as he couldn't believe it. The monster lost balance in the air, and fell to the ground. Hitting its head, and breaking it in the process, causing its instant death.
The earthquake, instantly stopped and disappeared. The ground was stable again and normal once again. And then everyone began to gain their balance. However…
"W-What is that?"
"What…?"
D'lean looked up and saw something unreal. Something was impossible. A phenomenon that isn't a possibility. An achievement that mankind wouldn't be able to reach in the near 1000 years. There it was. Right above their noses.
A crack in the sky. A wide space had opened. A split between two dimensions. A world of the unknown on the other side. The background was dark. But that wasn't the main attraction. A massive creature appeared out of the space. Everyone starting.
And in the blink of an eye.
SWOOSH!!
BOOOM!!!!!!!
It descended on the ground. Causing a horde of dust to manifest. Following it, other creatures began descending. Pouring like an endless lake… they flowed.
THUD!!
BOOM!!
THUD!!
BOOM!!
THUD!
THUD!!
THUD!!!…
BOOOOOM!!
Before D'lean, his eyes trembled, wide, uncertain, as though struggling to make sense of what stood before him. Then he spoke, his voice quivering…
"W… What's this Madness?!"
