Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Brightness That Faded(DỊCH)

News of Như Nguyệt advancing to university sent shockwaves through the Lưu Quang Academy. No one expected that the girl who seemed "only good at show" would actually pass the international student excellence exam and be directly admitted to the most prestigious Economics University in the country.

She officially left the 12th grade just a week after classes started, leaving behind astonished, envious, and bewildered gazes.

At the Lâm family, on a quiet Saturday morning, Lâm Thiên Dương sat in the study, his calm gaze fixed on the file that had just been delivered.

It was a report from Teacher Sở – a special teacher he arranged to monitor Như Nguyệt's academic situation. It clearly stated:

"Student Lâm Như Nguyệt demonstrates extremely sharp analytical thinking, outstanding data processing abilities, comprehensive knowledge, and quick responsiveness. After being nominated, she passed the international exam with high results and was officially directly admitted to the Economics University..." Lâm Thiên Dương frowned slightly. He had thought she was just trying to show off to get attention, but unexpectedly this time... she truly surprised him.

When he brought the report down to the living room, the other three brothers had just returned from the airport, coinciding with Lâm Hạo Kỳ's birthday. – "Did Như Nguyệt pass the international student excellence exam?" – Lâm Minh Hiên asked in surprise when he saw the eldest brother take out the report.

– "Not just passing. She was directly admitted to university." – Tian Yang replied coldly.

The other three looked at each other, their expressions changing significantly. Although they had previously looked down on her, now they were forced to reconsider.

Lam Hao Ki nodded slightly: – "It seems the girl isn't as bad as we imagined."

Lam Ya Shen remained silent, but his gaze was no longer as cold as before.

This year's birthday party was held simply at the Lam family's villa. The atmosphere was somewhat subdued. Although all five brothers were present, the appearance of Nhu Nguyet clearly displeased Mr. and Mrs. Lam.

Throughout the party, they only forced smiles and exchanged a few words, their eyes often communicating as if discussing something covertly.

In a dark corner of the villa, Mr. Lam poured a glass of wine for Mrs. Lam, his voice low and cold:

– "I didn't expect the girl to actually skip grades."

– "We need to reassess. If she continues like this... the position of heir in the eyes of those four won't be easy to control anymore." – Mrs. Lam replied, her gaze full of calculation.

The party ended in a gloomy atmosphere, despite the soft music and birthday wishes echoing outside.

Only Nhu Nguyet – the girl who had once been considered invisible in the family – stood by the railing on the second floor, calmly gazing at the night sky.

No one knew that a plan was gradually forming in her heart.

Step by step, person by person, secret by secret... all would be exposed.

The next morning, a big headline appeared on top educational news sites:

"Exceptional talent: A 10th-grade female student wins an international excellence award and is directly admitted to the National Economics University."

Just below is a photo of Nhu Nguyet – a delicate face, calm yet sharp eyes, accompanied by a short description:

"Lam Nhu Nguyet – a student of the Luu Quang Academy, only 16 years old, has astonished the academic community with her outstanding achievements. She is regarded as one of the most promising young talents today."

Within hours, social media buzzed with shares. School forums erupted in debate:

– "What? Lam Nhu Nguyet? The girl they called a 'walking flower'?"

– "This is really shocking... turns out the quiet ones can be the most formidable."

– "Does anyone remember when that girl was sent on errands by Tham Vu? Who's the inferior one now?"

At her old school – Luu Quang Academy, Tham Vu was so furious she threw her phone onto the bed. She couldn't believe that the girl she once looked down upon was now being praised nationwide.

Meanwhile, Nhu Nguyet remained silent. She did not respond to any interviews, nor did she post a thank-you note like other students.

She simply stood quietly behind the doors of the new academy – the University of Economics – where she was about to officially enter a completely different phase.

At the Lam family home, Mr. Lam was reading the newspaper when he turned pale with anger, throwing the paper onto the table:

– "Why is she in the news? These reporters have no sense!"

Mrs. Lam, sitting beside him, bit her lip lightly, her eyes flashing with concern:

– "The more prominent she becomes, the harder it is to control. What are you planning to do?"

Mr. Lam sneered:– "Let her rise high... then she'll fall hard."

On the balcony on the second floor, Lam Thien Duong looked at the newspaper brought by the secretary, his eyes slightly darkened. A person like Nhu Nguyet... more silently, more ominous. But he couldn't help but admit: his sister was no longer the stupid girl of any year.

In Mr. Lam's office, the air was thick. On the table, the iPad displays a series of articles praising Nhu Nguyet. His face was cold, his fingers tapping on the table in a grumpy rhythm.

– "Call the media party. Take all that trash down."

The secretary standing next to him hesitated for a moment:

– "Sir... but the article has spread. There is also a Ministry of Education page sharing it back—"

ROAR!

The tea cup hit the table hard, the water splashed.

– "I say remove is remove! Pull it down before everything gets out of hand. Don't let outsiders think our Lam family has a daughter 'dangerous'."

The secretary bowed his head and retreated. But in his heart he thought to himself: It's clear that your daughter made the family famous, yet you're so angry...

On the third floor of the villa, Nhu Nguyet leaned against the sofa, scrolling through her phone reading each complimentary comment, each sharing proudly. She clearly heard the arguing below, without guessing, she knew it was because of her.

The corners of her lips curled slightly. The world knows that she – is the thing they hate the most. But this time, no one can stop it anymore.
