Chapter 6 - Extracting Chakra

Chapter 6 – Extracting Chakra

Several days had passed. While the soreness in her body had completely faded, Natsuri could still feel lingering aftereffects. It wasn't anything major—just that subtle sense of tiredness that took time to wear off.

Well, that was the standard in the Naruto world. Even ordinary folks here, though lacking special bloodlines, had bodies way stronger than the people in her past life. Honestly, if she had trained that hard back then, she probably would've ended up paralyzed.

Actually, even back then, she wouldn't have made it this far without some decent mental fortitude. Natsuri wasn't blind to her own weaknesses—when it came to willpower and grit, she wasn't exactly the strongest type.

The past few days at school were uneventful. Iruka had been walking the class through basic training and going over chakra theory.

For Natsuri, it all felt like a bit of a waste. She'd already learned everything from the textbook herself, and the school's training didn't even come close to the routine she put herself through.

Still, maybe it was just because it was the start of the semester. The teachers were probably trying to build everyone's foundation first. Maybe later they'd be allowed to train more freely.

Now that she'd finished all the theory, Natsuri figured it was time to actually try extracting chakra. Since this was her first attempt, she waited until her mom, Sinai, was home—just in case anything went wrong.

Technically, chakra extraction wasn't dangerous, but still… you never knew. Better safe than sorry.

"Mom, I'm gonna start," Natsuri said, sitting cross-legged on the bed. There wasn't a specific posture required, but since someone was watching, she tried to look proper.

"Mhm, go ahead. Mama remembers—chakra extraction isn't dangerous," Sinai said with a warm smile.

"I know," Natsuri replied with a nod. Still, having someone there made her feel safer. What if she passed out or something?

Following the steps she'd memorized from the book, Natsuri began focusing on sensing her body's energy. She'd done this before, and honestly, it wasn't hard for her. This time, she planned to go all the way and actually extract chakra.

And with her mom right there, she didn't hesitate. She concentrated, merged her mental and physical energies, and—

Success.

Just like that, she extracted chakra for the first time. She shaped it in her palm, watching as a soft blue glow flickered to life. Natsuri stared at it, stunned for a second.

"Wow! You did it on your first try? That's amazing, Natsuri!" Sinai looked just as shocked. Sure, chakra extraction wasn't dangerous, but pulling it off on the first try? That wasn't exactly common. Did this mean her daughter was super talented? That thought made her feel all warm and proud inside.

Right then and there, Sinai made a little plan—tomorrow, after work, she'd ask Natsuri's teacher to trade in for the Shadow Clone Jutsu scroll as a surprise gift.

"Hmm... yeah, I guess that went well," Natsuri muttered. Honestly, even she hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. Maybe it was because her mental energy was naturally strong? Either way, this proved she had potential. The next step was figuring out how skilled she'd be with ninjutsu.

The only thing bugging her now was: how much chakra did she actually have? She could feel that it was a decent amount, but without a reference point, there was no way to tell for sure.

As she thought about it, she suddenly felt someone tugging at her cheek.

"Come on, you just extracted chakra for the first time! At least look happy," Sinai said, pinching her daughter's cheek playfully.

Caught off guard, Natsuri gave a half-hearted smile under the 'cheek torture.' That was enough for Sinai.

"There it is! You're still a kid, you know. No need to always be so serious."

Natsuri sighed in defeat. It wasn't that she didn't want to smile—she just had a lot on her mind.

After managing to escape her mom's clutches, she headed back to her room and resumed practicing. Even if the chakra couldn't be used for anything yet, she wanted to get comfortable with the process.

Eventually, she needed to reach the point where extracting chakra was second nature—something she could do without focusing. It had to be fast and seamless in battle. The question was… what could she actually use the chakra for right now?

She didn't know a single jutsu yet. Letting it vanish into the air felt like a waste. Maybe she could use it to practice chakra control—like walking on walls or trees?

But then she remembered her mom was resting in the next room. If she fell off a wall and made a loud thud, she'd probably get yelled at. So that plan was out.

What about shape transformation or chakra nature transformation?

The problem was, she didn't even know what her chakra nature was yet. So for now, shape transformation it was.

Well, calling it "chakra shape transformation" sounded fancy. Really, she just wanted to practice forming shapes with her chakra—starting with something simple, like a sphere.

She tried channeling chakra to her hand, but as soon as it left her body, it scattered and disappeared. Like trying to hold smoke.

Natsuri frowned but didn't give up. No one got it on the first try, right?

So she kept going: extract, try, extract again, try again. Over and over until her chakra finally ran out.

She realized something interesting—if she went all in, she could extract all her chakra in one go. It meant her mental energy was high, but her chakra reserves hadn't caught up yet.

Still, she made some progress. She was starting to feel a faint connection with the chakra even after it left her body. It wasn't easy to control, but that tiny thread of connection was enough to make her happy.

It meant she was on the right track.

With her chakra depleted, that marked the end of her training for the day. Time to rest.

Tomorrow, she had a mission—find Iruka. First, she wanted to ask him to help her gauge how much chakra she actually had. Second, she wanted to request permission to start learning the Three Basic Jutsu early. She was pretty sure she had enough chakra to handle them.

If Iruka said no, then plan B was to ask her mom for the jutsu scrolls and get Iruka to teach her how to use them.

Feeling confident with her plan, Natsuri slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next day, once classes ended, Natsuri walked up to Iruka.

"Natsuri-kun? What's up?" he asked, a bit surprised to see her approaching him directly.

"Iruka-sensei, I've already learned how to extract chakra using the textbook. I wanted to ask—can you help me figure out how much chakra I have right now?"

Iruka blinked. "Wait—you learned it all by yourself?"

He was genuinely surprised. As a responsible teacher, he knew most of his students' backgrounds. In Natsuri's case, her mom had once been a Genin, but it didn't seem like she could actually teach. She knew how things worked, sure—but not why they worked.

Which meant Natsuri had taught herself the entire chakra theory in just a few days… and successfully extracted it on her own.

Iruka didn't know why she wanted to measure her chakra level, but seeing a student take that much initiative made him smile. He liked hardworking kids.

"Of course," he said, nodding. "Let's check it out."
