Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen: The Lovers and the End of Gods

Part I: The Waking of the God-Eater

In the ruins of the Veil, beneath a cracked sky that bled crimson, something ancient stirred.

The God-Eater.

A being older than the stars, once shackled by the law of death and life's balance.

Kael's defiance had broken those chains.

It rose a mass of black flame and teeth, with a voice like the scream of a thousand dying suns.

"Kael Veyne.Breaker of Balance.Your soul is mine."

And with every step it took, kingdoms crumbled. The last gods fled. The night turned eternal.

Part II: The Refuge of the Damned

Kael and Lyra, exhausted and bloodied, found refuge in Blackmourne, a shattered city of outcasts and warlords.

Those who knelt to no god, answered to no king.

Kael stood atop the ancient walls, sword in hand, Lyra at his side, her palm pressed to his chest as if to steady the storm within.

"We can't win this war," she whispered.

"I know," Kael said."But I'll burn every star in the sky before I let them take you again."

Lyra smiled, a broken, beautiful thing, and kissed him.

The damned rallied beneath their banner.Demons, old soldiers, forsaken godlings.

A broken army for a doomed world.

But for the first time, Kael didn't care about destiny.Only her.

Part III: The Blood Vow

On the eve of the final war, Kael and Lyra stood before the dying flame of the old gods' altar.

Both bloodied from battle, both knowing the dawn would bring death.

They clasped hands, slicing their palms with twin daggers, their blood mingling in the ashes.

"I vow to love you beyond worlds," Kael said, voice raw.

"I vow to die with you before I let them break us again," Lyra whispered.

Their blood hissed as it touched the altar.

The old gods screamed.

A new power, dark and ancient, answered, one untouched by gods or fate.

Born of love.Born of death.Born of defiance.

Part IV: The Final Stand

The next dawn, if it could be called that beneath a blood-red sky, saw the God-Eater's army clash with the Forsaken Legion.

Demons.Shattered humans.Ancient shadows. All fighting for two doomed lovers.

Kael cut through horrors with a feral grin, Lyra beside him, her twin daggers dancing through flesh and shadow.

Every blow they struck was a message to the world.

We will not bow.

The God-Eater descended upon them, a darkness blotting out the sky.

And together, Kael and Lyra charged.

One last kiss.One last promise.

Then into the jaws of death.
