Chapter 1 - The Awakening

Long ago, in a kingdom bathed in moonlight and magic, lived a noble brat named Kite Mota and her sworn protector, Rikushi Ari, a loyal bodyguard and her beloved. Their bond was unbreakable, forged in Trust, sharpened by Love, and Sealed from countless days spent together side-by-side.

But peace is a fragile thing.

Their kingdom, envied for its magical strength and harmony, became the target of a massive raid from the Orcus Kingdom.

Armies from beyond the horizon stormed through their walls, determined to erase the magic that flowed through their people.

Rikushi grabbed Kite's hand and quickly led her inside their house, bringing her to the lowest level of their enclosure and enacting a desperate, yet forbidden, Magic spell.

To preserve their bloodline and power, Kite and Rikushi were sealed inside an ancient grimoire--hidden away from time, locked in silence, stasis, and away from the rest of the world.

A thousand years passed.

Magic became widespread. Kingdoms crumbled. Skyscrapers rose where castles once stood, and technology ruled in a world where Magic was supposed to be the center of attention.

Enter Toku Mei.

A down-on-his-luck young man with no Magic, no Job, no Mana, and no bi- direction in life. After being fired, with the last of his money, he bought a worn-down house on the outskirts of the city--a place with cracked windows, creaking floors, and a basement thick with dust and mold.

While cleaning off some old shelves, he stumbled upon an old, leather-bound book--its title long faded, its pages humming softly with something strange and written in an old language of the past.

Half-mocking, half-curious, Toku read aloud a strange Latin phrase etched into a page with a weird symbol of a Magic circle around two beings.

Some time goes by and he tosses the book into the trashcan, continuing his work for a little while.

But, after some time, suddenly the air cracked. Light spilled from the book.

And then--they emerged from their 1000-year torture.

Rikushi and Kite awoke in a world they did not recognize.

Rikushi, startled by the sudden interaction with a foreign-looking being, does a quick scan on Toku, realizing he is Mana-less and has...no Magic? Rikushi then quickly grabs onto Toku, threatening him whilst thinking he's an enemy, asking about where everyone is and if the raid is over. Toku responds that he is just a nobody and has no idea what Rikushi is blabbing about and that he's in the basement of an old shack with a roof that's about to collapse from age and decay.

Confused and disoriented, they stormed past the scared Toku and threw open the cellar doors--only to find their kingdom... gone. In its place stood a strange hybrid of Steel Towers and Ancient Ruins, Magic paired with Machines, their home reduced to whispers in History.

Now, with the help of the very man who freed them--powerless but a valuable asset in traversing this 'unknown'--the pair must navigate this new era. What became of their home? What happened to their people? And why does this world feel like it's hiding something beneath all its lights and screens?

Together, an unlikely trio sets off on an adventure to uncover the truth, reclaim the past, and maybe--just maybe--reshape the world back to its original glory, in this strange world...
