Chapter 2 - Report No. 2 - A Letter

I found myself in a field of white. Towering, unfamiliar creatures moved about, building massive walls that encircled the horizon. The air buzzed with an energy I couldn't explain.

Then I heard a voice.

"Here is another who has made contact with one of ours. He may seem like a normal child, but he holds potential."

A glowing white figure stood in the distance. Our eyes met.

"You have a chance. Please... meet me soon."

It smiled—but not out of joy. It was a lonely, hollow smile.

What does it mean to meet you? What is waiting for me?

My eyes snapped open. I was in a hospital room. Machines beeped softly around me. My body felt sore but intact. I turned and saw my parents at my bedside, tears streaming down their faces.

"Felix!"

They pulled me into a tight hug, crying into my hospital gown.

"Mom… Dad…"

"We're just so glad you're alright," my mom whispered, voice trembling. "As soon as we heard about the attack, we rushed here."

"The injuries… they were bad," Dad added. "We didn't know if you'd make it."

But now they smiled through their tears.

"You're awake—and that's all we need."

We spent the next hour together, quietly holding onto each other until the doctor arrived. A man followed behind him—tall, sharp-eyed, and unreadable.

"Oh, you're already awake?" the doctor said, surprised. "That's… fast."

He ran tests, pressing on my injuries. I didn't even wince.

"Incredible. Your bones and wounds completely healed. Not at a normal human rate. Do you feel any pain?"

I shook my head. "None."

The doctor blinked. "That's… extraordinary."

The man behind him finally spoke.

"That's because he made contact with Bia."

All eyes turned to him.

"Sorry for the sudden interruption," he said, stepping forward. "I'm Horald Lunes, from Eden Corp."

Dad raised an eyebrow. "Eden Corp?"

"Yes. The creatures you've seen in the news Psytonoids aren't just random incidents. We are an organization working covertly with governments worldwide to neutralize them. We operate in the shadows, under the guise of law enforcement."

He glanced at me. "The only ones capable of defeating Psytonoids… are those chosen by Bia."

My eyes widened. "Wait you're the one who shot that bolt of light at the Psytonoid's head?"

Everyone looked at me in surprise. Lunes let out a sigh, visibly annoyed, but pulled something from his pocket. It looked like a small hilt something out of Star Wars.

He held it out and muttered a phrase. A beam of glowing blue light extended from both ends, forming a full-length energy bow.

"This is my internal weapon manifested from Bia. It heals, it protects… and it kills when necessary. The same energy now resides in your body."

The room fell silent, awestruck.

Something inside me stirred. This wasn't normal. It was… meant for me.

"What do I do now that I have this power?"

Lunes adjusted his coat. Still annoyed.

"You can live your life normally… or" he paused, eyes sharp, "you can join Eden Corp. We've analyzed your Bia resonance. You qualify for recruitment."

My mom's eyes flashed with panic. "No way he's just a child! You're putting him in danger!"

"We're not forcing him," Lunes said calmly. "We only ask for a decision one from his heart."

Dad pulled him aside to speak privately. I sat in silence, processing.

I became interested in medicine because I wanted to save lives to protect people.

Especially after what happened to my brother...

When they returned, Dad looked me in the eye.

"We would've liked to talk about this later, son… but this opportunity doesn't wait. We'll respect your decision."

I looked down. My chest burned with something maybe fear, maybe hope.

But I knew my answer.

I lifted my head.

"I'll accept. This is my chance to become someone stronger not someone weak, but someone who protects."

The room fell silent. Even Lunes blinked.

Negotiations continued, and eventually, I was handed a sealed letter.

"Felix, this is your confirmation. You'll undergo training to prepare for combat. Don't worry your instructor is located right here in Bohol. His name is Instructor Terah Forest, and your training begins in Ubay."

As Lunes turned to leave, I remembered something.

"Hey… Horald. Thank you. For saving me."

He paused, visibly cringing.

"…Ugh. I hate compliments."

And with that, he stormed out.

Well, that explains a lot.

I looked at the letter again.

Ubay, Bohol – Instructor Terah Forest.

Let's see where this takes me.

Ubay, Bohol – Beachside

A lone bahay kubo sits by the shore. A man enters quietly and finds a letter on his desk.

He opens it.

Felix Torregosa.

Potential Ranking: Highest.

He smiles faintly.

"A letter from Eden, huh… Interesting."

Horald's POV

Talking to them felt like pulling teeth. I hate pretending to be formal.

Then the kid said it loud and proud.

"I'll accept. This is my chance to be a new me someone who protects others."

That look… fear in his eyes, but calm. Strange. He didn't feel like a kid. He felt… solid.

Later, Eden Corp emailed me for confirmation. I filled it out.

Then I saw the name of his trainer.

Instructor: Terah Forest.

…No way.

Forest lives in this province? That kid is unbelievably lucky.

I'm a huge fan, but… meh. Let the experience speak for itself.

As I left the room, his thank-you echoed behind me.

God, I hate compliments. Makes me wanna eat ice cream or something.

I looked up. The sky was overcast.

Lately, higher-grade Psytonoids have been showing up more and more. Felix was in a coma, but the world kept getting darker.

What is Eden planning with this kid…?
