Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11

Asher.

I could hear the music from the frat house from a mile away. Not because it was that loud, although it was loud even for human standards. A rogue hunter wouldn't come near a place like this. The discomfort and potential damage to his ears wouldn't be worth it. But me? I was used to it.

Or maybe it was part of my abnormality. Not being able to control when I transform and not being as affected by sounds as normal werewolves. Checked out.

The house came into view. I had wanted to slip in through the back, but it would seem there was no hope of that now. There were people everywhere. I could smell the booze and sweat and, god! the lust.

They didn't need a reason to party. All they needed were drinks flowing in surplus and students willing to show up.

People were making out all over the place. A girl had her tongue so far down a guy's throat, I was concerned he was going to throw up. It looked like half the campus was here. Which would not even be surprising. Todd Hanley threw the best ragers.

Speaking of Todd, I spotted him through the window, chanting with a group of other guys as they cheered one of their friends to finish a litre of beer in one gulp. That had to be bad for you, right? But the son of a bitch did it and the room went wild in drunken celebration.

I wish I didn't have to go in. There was another secret entrance I could use, but there wasn't any. There was another entrance to the attic from the garage, but Todd had the keys, so I had to go in. I could hear a few whispers as I walked in.

'Asher Lowell is here?'

'Never seen him at one of these.'

'Heard he does dudes.'

 I ignored them all.

"My man! What's up, Asher?" Todd hailed drunkenly. He made his way through the living room towards me on unsteady feet, his hands clutching a beer can. He stretched his hands out for a handshake but missed mine by a couple of inches. "Whoops. Hehe. Let's try that again." He slurred.

"Doesn't matter. You know it's still, like, early in the morning, right?" I whispered in concern.

"Yeah. Isn't it awesome?" He hiccuped and smiled widely. Todd was an awesome guy if you could look past the constant drinking, long greasy hair, and the bad breath. Which came from too much beer and too little hygiene.

"Yeah, whatever. Thanks for letting me crash here, man." I gestured for the keys to the attic.

"Sure sure, anytime." He patted his jeans pockets, "Umm, keys aren't on me right now. Gotta go up to my room to get it." He turned to the stairs and began to chuckle, "Five bucks says I trip down those stairs before we get halfway up. I'm so wasted, man."

"Tell me where it is and I'll go." I was getting impatient.

"Nah nah nah. You wouldn't know where to look. I'm kidding. I can make it up the stairs no problem."

We made it up the stairs alright, but not without problems. He tripped a couple of times, but not enough to roll down the stairs. We passed a couple making out at the top of the stairs and two rooms with unholy moans coming from within.

Todd's room was a mess. But that wasn't anything new. I was impressed he was able to find the keys in the mayhem and in his drunken state at that.

"Here you go." He placed them in my hand and took a long swig from his beer can. "Oh yeah, your stuff should be around here somewhere." He said, referring to the jasmine powder. He looked around in mild confusion.

"Don't worry about it. You can come give me later tonight." I said, already on my way out the door. I didn't want to be in there much longer than I needed to be. It was easy for me to ignore the loud music, but it still bothered me nonetheless, and the current song had a long, drawn-out electric guitar sequence that was burning my eardrums.

"Aiit man. Let me know if you need anything else, Kay? Todd took another swig from his can, emptying it. He crushed the can and threw it amongst the growing pile in a corner.

I nodded and headed out of the house and to the garage as fast as I could.

"You really should keep better friends," Dean spoke up, his voice mocking.

"Oh, now you say something?" I replied to him in my mind.

"You did ask me to shut up. Remember?" he sulked.

 "Well, keep shutting up."

"I hate this place." He continued, ignoring me.

"If you have any ideas for a better hiding spot, I'm all ears," I replied, mildly annoyed.

He said nothing in reply, so I guess he didn't.

There were a couple of partygoers in the garage as well, but they were either too busy making out or being drunk to pay me any mind. I dragged the step ladder under the hatch and unlocked it.

The attic was done simply. A medium-sized bed, a dresser, a blue bean bag, and dim lights. There was a mini fridge, a small microwave as well, and someone had filled a tin bucket with snacks. I had to crouch a little to move around, and that got annoying, but I didn't have any better living options for the moment.

I grabbed a pack of Doritos from the tin bucket and plopped myself down on the bed. Classes for the day were out of the question. I'd get in trouble with Mrs Phyllis again, but that was an issue for a later time.

"Dean?" I called out to my wolf.

"Yes, Asher." His raspy voice replied.

"We can't keep running forever. What do you say we kill this rogue hunter?"
