Chapter 10: An Unexpected Ally: The Reincarnated Demon King
After the introductions, everyone moved to the great hall, where the heirs of the two families and the wives began to socialize, while the patriarchs held their own conversation. Kyle observed from a distance until the young Heinz clan member approached him.
"Oh, hello friend, I'm Rush, the youngest son, and you?" he said with an enigmatic smile.
Kyle stared at Rush and, with a smile, replied, "I'm Kyle, also the youngest son. So, how's it going, Rush... or should I say Demon King?"
Rush chuckled. "Very well, I see why they called you the strongest man in humanity... Now I'm not the Demon King, just the youngest son of the Heinz clan."
Kyle asked, "So, what happened to you? Did you reincarnate in someone's body?"
Rush sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "No, the Demon King you knew was actually a human, just like you. This is me when I was little. I went through a lot, and that's why I became the Demon King."
Kyle let out a sigh, trying to process what he'd just heard. "But weren't you the Demon King I killed in the city of Siglas?"
Rush gave a sarcastic smile. "How cruel you are, saying it so easily. Well, unfortunately, yes, I am that Demon King."
Kyle leaned closer and whispered, "And what do you want now? To rebuild your underworld kingdom?"
Rush said with sincerity, "No, I don't know what happened to you after you killed me, but I don't want to experience that tragedy again. In my past life, I had no choice; I had to be the Demon King if I wanted to live. After my father died and the Heinz Family was shattered, I got lost in the abyss. But no, I won't do the same thing again. That's why I wanted to find you; I wanted to be your ally. So, what do you think?"
Kyle thought for a moment and said to himself: With my current third-circle strength, I think I could defeat my third brother Zuho. I don't know how strong Rush is, but he seems sincere.
"I'll take you as an ally, but..." Kyle interrupted, surrounding the area with a protective barrier so no one would notice his aura. He let out a killing intent. "Don't try to betray me."
Rush, due to his current weak strength, felt the pressure, but still said, "I wouldn't dare. I already told you, I don't want to die by your hands twice."
At that moment, the second son of the Heinz Clan, Flame, approached. Rush shot Kyle one last look confirming their alliance and turned to go with his brother. Flame also turned, looking at Kyle with contempt, as Kyle was known as the bastard son of the Zujesh clan, and then continued walking alongside Rush.
