The nature of the conflict

The world had been split into two colossal factions: Meridia and Verdannia.

Once equals in both might and majesty, the tides turned when the city of Meridia-a sprawling super metropolis the size of an entire country—was erased from existence. No one knows how or why. What followed was nothing short of apocalyptic: white phosphorus fell from the sky, blanketing regions far beyond the crater's radius. Nearly 40 million lives were lost in what would later be known only as The Emperor's Final Judgement.

This cataclysm marked the end of the war.

In the aftermath, Meridia was subjugated. While pockets of resistance—the so-called Freedom Forces still survive in the ruins and wilderness, they are slowly being crushed beneath the might of Verdannia's forces. What was once a proud and prosperous nation, blessed with an abundance of coal, oil, gas, and arable land, has now been forced into guerilla warfare. Its armies scattered, its dignity stripped, its soil soaked in memory and blood. Yet they still try to resist The Emperor's Undying mercy.

And yet! Verdannia stands tall under the banner of The Emperor most merciful, his title to be echoed and exalted:

Long Live The Emperor.

Long Live The Supreme Arbiter.
