*Noah's POV*
"You look like you haven't slept."
Leo stands in the hotel lobby wearing a charcoal suit that probably costs more than most people's rent. His hair is perfectly styled, his smile practiced. He looks like sin wrapped in Italian wool.
"I slept fine."
"Liar."
We walk through the revolving doors into the crisp New York morning. The city moves around us with its usual intensity, everyone rushing toward their own private dramas.
"Second thoughts?"
"No second thoughts."
Leo falls into step beside me as we head toward the coffee shop where I've been monitoring Mia's routine for the past week.
"You know, I've been thinking about this all night."
"And?"
"This woman, Mia. She's not really the target here, is she?"
I stop walking. "What do you mean?"
"I mean you're not doing this for some wronged husband you barely know. You're doing this because you're still angry about Chloe."
The observation cuts deeper than I want to admit. "Does it matter?"
