Chapter 1 - Ch. 1 Blood Aptitude ceremony

About a hundred years ago, seven divine pagodas appeared suddenly across Asia. At first, mankind barely paid them any mind—silent towers of unknown origin, too ancient to study, too strange to understand.

Then everything changed.

The emergence of the seven pagodas revived the world's spiritual energy. In a matter of years, the balance of nature was shattered. Animals and plants mutated into savage monsters and towering beasts. Forests grew wild and uncontrollable; mountains moved and rivers dried. Humanity's weapons—bullets, missiles, even the dreaded nuclear arsenal—proved powerless to stop the advance of this new world.

Facing extinction, humankind stood on the edge of despair.

Until, within the depths of one divine pagoda, a team of researchers discovered something extraordinary: remnants of ancient cultivation techniques. From them, a single man succeeded in walking the path of cultivation, becoming the first modern practitioner.

By then, humanity's population had already fallen below one billion.

Yet from this turning point, a new era was born—one built upon bloodlines, talent, and the relentless pursuit of power.

An era we now remember as: The Great spritual era.

Azure Martial high School – Blood Aptitude Ceremony

"Welcome, students," Principal Lin spoke with pride in his voice. "After three years of dedicated study, you are now well-versed in blood quality, martial theory, and the sacred history of cultivation."

"Today is a turning point in your lives—the day your destinies will be decided. Some of you will walk the path of martial artists. Others may not. But fear not. Even if you cannot cultivate, you can still serve our great society with honor, as ordinary citizens."

A respectful silence followed, broken only by the subtle hum of the blood-testing instruments activating in the background. The students stood in long, straight lines—robes neatly pressed, eyes flickering with anticipation, fear, and hidden dreams.

"Now," Principal Lin declared, raising a hand toward the raised altar behind him, "let the Awakening begin."

Golden light streamed down from the ceremonial array above, bathing the stone platform in radiant glow. One by one, names began to appear on the hovering screen. The first student stepped forward, his heart pounding like a drum.

"Participant No. 1, place your hand on the orb," Principal Lin instructed the first student.

The boy stepped forward and pressed his palm against the glowing sphere. A faint hum echoed, and after a brief flash of light, the result appeared above the platform:

"—Blood Quality: none

Next," Principal Lin said calmly, as one by one, several students stepped forward to have their blood quality tested.

"Participant No. 178, step forward."

From among the students, a handsome boy took a confident step ahead.

"Hey, isn't that Bai Xiao? Xiao Xinyi's younger brother?" one female student whispered to her friend.

"Yeah, his sister scored a blood quality of 9 last year and took first place in the martial competition."

Ignoring the murmurs around him, Bai Xiao stepped toward the platform and placed his hand on the orb.

For a brief moment, the orb reacted—light shimmered weakly inside. Then, the result appeared above in glowing text:

—Blood Quality: 1

Seeing this, several students began whispering among themselves.

"Silence, students!" Principal Lin's voice thundered across the hall, instantly quieting the crowd.

Turning to Bai Xiao, he spoke more gently:

"Bai Xiao, do not lose heart. True, your talent is mediocre—but you can still become a martial artist. There are many things in this world that can help enhance one's potential."

With that, Principal Lin called the next participant to the platform.

Bai Xiao stepped down, his face calm but his fists clenched at his sides. As he passed by, a boy standing nearby sneered at him.

"Hahaha! Bai Xiao, what happened? Didn't you always dream of being like your sister? And now… look at you!"

Beside the mocking boy, another student added flatteringly,

"Yes, Young Master Wang, you're absolutely right. People used to compare Bai Xiao to you—but now everyone must see the difference between you two."

Hearing this, Wang Feng—the son of the Wang family patriarch, one of the three most powerful families in the city—laughed coldly.

"Hahaha! Exactly. I am the young master of the Wang family… and then there's him."

Bai Xiao's fist tightened, but he said nothing and walked away silently.

The ceremony continued. One by one, the remaining students stepped forward to complete their aptitude tests.

At the end, Principal Lin addressed them all:

"To those who have passed today's test—congratulations. And to those who could not, I still wish you the best for your future. With this, the awakening ceremony ends here. For those who qualified, best of luck in the competition three months from now."
